Well I'll be calling to try and make some ADRs at decent restaurants tomorrow but it sounds to me from reading that everything decent is being booked up. What good is Free DDP without the dining and only the plan? Am I going to sound like an idiot when I ask for a table for 2 at Ohana at 7pm on 9/8(or any other night?) If no one knows, I'll update the thread with my potential embarrassment/failure tomorrow.

Edit: Darn, meant to put a question mark on the title

I made my ADR's for sept. 2 months ago.:confused3 I guess it help to be well-informed. but I think there is a thread where people list their cancellations. have you tried the new teppanyaki? in japan? are you driving or flying?
the reason I ask is: there are a few resort restaurants that don't book up that are VERY NICE! the Maya GRill at Coronado Springs.. holy cow.. delicious. you can get a their triple grill (a filet you can cut through with a fork, a half slab of ribs, and a fish cut; and scrumptuios brulee for dessert, oh... and empanada for appetizer. OR BOMA at Animal kingdom lodge. .GREAT food. (don't bother with shutter's at CBR) and big river grille at boardwalk... it was really bad.
but keep calling and trying. people cancel all the time. (I hear people book up ressies; "just in case". I think disney should put a stop to that. it is on their books.... how can you have ressies in the same name for dif. restaurants around the same time???? that is JUST SELFISH!

You may not be "out of luck" but you may have to be flexible on exact dates or times. You may have to eat at off-times, early or late or maybe do some TS lunches or breakfasts instead of dinners. You may have to keep trying to get reservations at some of the more popular spots as you get closer to your vacation. It is doable.

My BF and I were able to get ADR's for every restaurant we wanted, except for Le Cellier. As a previous poster said, if you're flexible, you'll have a much better chance at getting the restaurants you want. Ohana at 9:45pm is better than no Ohana at all :)

dont forget places like ESPN, Big River Grille and Planet Hollywood dont take ADR but yet are on the DDP

My best advice is to call and ask if they have any dinner openings on such and such date for Ohana's. They can tell you if there are any time slots open and you can decide if that time works for you. If you say you have to eat at 7 then yeah there is a really good chance you won't get what you want.

I called to make my ADR's for 9/22 - 10/6 at the weekend and managed to get all but a few. Magic Kingdom and surrounding area was all booked up for 9/23 so i had to go for a late lunch at Kona cafe. :)

we booked le cellier a few weeks ago and had to settle for 2 tables for our party of 6 but at least we got in :woohoo:

MGM was also pretty busy but I did manage to get HBD for 6pm which i thought was still pretty good

I have had no problem (except LC) getting ADRs for a party of 9 between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. I have made them, changed them, then changed my whole itenerary, and was still able to get all the ressies I wanted (i.e. Boma, Biergarten, Kona, Sci-Fi, & Rose & Crown). Our travel dates are Sept. 8-13. Good luck. I think I still have Coral Reef for the 8th at 4:50 p.m. for a party of 9 which I will be cancelling in the next several days, if you are interested in that let me know.

The key is to be flexible - you might want to eat at LeCellier, but obviously all the dinner slots are full. You'll have to settle for a late lunch, maybe...or any lunch time for that matter.

Same thing with 'Ohana...you may have to say, "We will be there from this date to that date any availability at all for the entire week?" Then go with what they give you.

There are many good places to eat, and maybe this will be the shove needed to get out there and try something new.

thanks for the encouragement friends. I'm about as flexible as they come luckily. Le Cellier is of course sold out for lunch and dinner the entire week. I was able to get Teppenyaki at 5pm on the 8th, Kona at 520pm on the 9th and Hollywood and Vine at 5pm on the 10th. Ohana was booked on the 8th except for 840pm same with Kona except for the early 5pm slots. I guess Ill take it for now and see about other restaurants.

doesn't sound like you did too bad. It is just the really popular places that are hard to impossible to get.

The other thing that may work in your favor is that you are a party of 2. Obviously, parties of 2 can be seated almost anywhere, whereas larger parties require moving chairs/tables, etc. When I made my ADRs for my May trip, I didn't even realize that I should have made them 180 days out and I got every restaurant I wanted, I just had to be a little flexible with the times, but nothing outrageous. Good luck and have a great trip!

My arrival is Sept 9 to Sept 15. I made my dining reservations as soon as I made my travel reservations, and I still did not get what I wanted. I know the Rose & Crown in EPCOT is still open and they say you can watch the light show from there at 9pm. I wanted Le Cellier or Coral Reef and I couldn't get either for 9/10 But this should be OK...

Added:

Sept 7th: Rose and Crown at 440pm
Sept 11th Concourse at 830pm
Sept 12th Jiko at 810pm

I dont think Jiko will be my final destination and I may switch out Concourse for Ohana at 515pm but I have to mull that over. Either way, it doesnt look like all is lost.

7th- Epcot Extra Magic Until Midnight – Rose + Crown 440pm
8th Play It by ear in the morning. Mitsukoshi Teppenyaki 5pm
9th- Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hour Until Midnight- Kona 520pm
10th- MGM Studios Extra Magic Hour Until 11pm- Hollywood + Vine Fantasmic 5pm
11th- Magic Kingdom 9am-9pm- Concourse 830pm
12th Animal Kingdom Extra Magic Hour 8pm- Jiko 810pm

If you keep your Jiko ressies, we may pass each other as we have 6:40 PM ressies that same night! And Le Cellier for lunch (that was our first dinner choice, no luck).
As other posters said, it's hit or miss. While I couldn't get into Le Cellier for dinner on the 12th (or O'hanas or Boma's), I was able to make dinner reservations for Yachtsman (then cancelled), Narcoosees (then cancelled), and Jiko's (still current). And that was all within the last couple of weeks.
I did have forethought to book early for Hoop-Dee-Doo and Cindy's Table (lunch) though.

Basically, the more popular, the quicker it books, but you can always find something!
