9/28/13. Disney Wonder 7 night Bahamian out of Galveston.

I made a stupid newbie mistake! Dang! I'm not signed up!!!!

Oh no!

I'll be posting a link for Group C in a day or two. We'll get you signed up on that one. It's still early and I bet we will have more people join you in Group C. Also, Group A has lost quite a few cabins so I'm guessing some of those people might join Group C if there aren't very may cabins. I know my cabins will join you for sure. :)

Also, I haven't confirmed everyone in Group B yet. If someone drops from that group we'll add you there.

 Good Morning Cruisers! Called DCL this morning to verify that shorts were now allowed in the MDR's, and they are! Not sure if that will affect us or not, but wanted to let you know. Might help with luggage space?
And I asked if the Halloween festivities were just one night and if so, what night? And the cm replied "Oh, every night! Just check your Navigators for the daily festivities, it's going to be fun!". I'm pretty sure we don't wear costumes every night, so we'll just be checking that Navigator in our room!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information. :thumbsup2 Glad that they have finally just changed the policy on shorts. I understand the concept, but the reality was very different.

Interesting about the halloween activities. We have decided we are going to wear our costumes. I read somewhere - now don't remember where but I'm sure on the DIS somewhere :confused3 that the adult costume party is one evening - that should be FUN!! :cheer2:

The reality that folks were already doing so? Is that what you mean?:rotfl: I know last cruise, dh and ds wore dress khaki's every night, and they would look around and say "Well...THEY are wearing shorts, so why can't we?" So, I'm betting my guy will wear shorts once or twice....though when I mentioned it, he said "Not a big deal".

And I thought I had read another Dis cruisers cruise in Oct that they knew Halloween was taking the place of semi-formal night, and that's why I called. But the cm didn't seem to think so when I asked if it was on that night in stead or would it be a particular night. He just said "Oh, the festivities are all week...CHECK your Navigator daily." No commitment to a time and/or day. Which is fine with me..I like surprises. If it's on that first night? Ooooh, it could get scary as far as our costumes..(and we might not even be in them..:scared1:) So, it'll be interesting if someone else calls, what they say!:)

Yes! Exactly!! LOL. :-) My DH doesn't really mind but especially on that first day when luggage is just being delivered etc it was a bit of a pain to have to change into nicer khakis.

Ok so I just completed our online check in. And I have a question. Our PAT says anytime because we have concierge services in our reservations. What the heck does that mean? And does that mean I just go on board when we get there?

If you are booked in the concierge level, then, yes, you can arrive at any time. The port opens at 11 am, although they do let people in a bit earlier than that we have found, and as concierge you would automatically be assigned boarding group 1. If you get there after general boarding has started, then I am not sure what happens, but I assume you would still have a boarding group 1 # and can just walk on with whatever group is boarding at the time. :thumbsup2

Boy, do I understand! Last cruise, we left Memphis in October, had to wear jackets as it had turned unusually cool, got to port, and they had an unusual storm with 18ft swells!! We got so wet at the muster drill, and barely had time to get cleaned up before early dining. It would have been SO nice to slip on his shorts, but we followed guidelines. :)

The only night my DH used to wear shorts into the MDR was on pirate night...we figured if people can be in pirate costumes a pair of shorts wouldn't hurt. Other than that, we've always followed the rules, although I know he will be glad to wear shorts some nights. :goodvibes

Is anyone with a GTY room still waiting on a room assignment? Hopefully most people have their rooms by now - the waiting game is a test of patience! :rolleyes1

We bit the bullet and have booked at Harbor House the night before. I swore we weren't going to, as we are only about 1 1/2 hours away, but the thought of leaving the "real world" behind a bit sooner was just too much. ;)

There are 2 people on our FE list I know of still with GTYs. Maybe the upgrade fairy will be kind to those who wait?

We're at the HH too, but we are about 5 hours away (realistically 6 when traveling with kids). I'm looking forward to getting up bright and early to watch the ships come in, then we'll head to the soda fountain place for breakfast (the name escapes me right now).

:thumbsup2 We're at HH too...but we're way more than 5 hours away. :) Now, you've got our curiosity up. What is the soda fountain place?

Can't believe the amount of controversy that this new shorts policy is causing! It makes me laugh and hope that I do not grow up to become as trivial as to care about people coming to dinner in shorts! (I'm 21 and assuming a majority of the people on here are parent-aged as they are taking their children on a Disney cruise usually) Anyway I dress quite differently as I am a very big fashionista who has transcended the typical American college student jeans/Nike shorts wardrobe, but never even bat an eye at what the others wear around me! I know I get judged constantly for being different so it strikes me as funny that people are being judged for "dressing down" rather then dressing up. Just wanted to leave my thoughts somewhere rather then the heated discussion on the main page as I'm sure to be flamed!

I hope that the upgrade fairy will be VERY kind for all of those still waiting on their GTY assignments. pixiedust:

DH wanted to try the Tremont House this time around, but I just can't pass up the excitement of hopping in and out of bed to see if the ship is coming in yet. :cheer2: When I told him that I would want to get up and go and stand at the pier to watch her sail in (at about 6 am), he "graciously" agreed to stay at HH. :rotfl2:

THAT is so cool! We love vintage places! How far is that from HH? Can we walk? We'll have a car, but know we won't want to go too far! But, yum! My 14dd got giggly;) when she looked at the website and the food!:)

I think you could walk there - it's probably a 10 min walk I would guess looking at the map. The breakfast at HH is very hit and miss. Danish Pastries, cereal, bagels and coffee & juice. The first time we stayed they had plenty, the last time, they were out of almost everything and didn't restock it. We went and ate at Denny's on the Sea Wall last time instead but this soda fountain place looks awesome! La Kings on the Strand is also a great place for an old fashioned Soda Fountain & candy store. I'm going to try and hit that up in the afternoon when we get there. :thumbsup2

It can be very humorous if you look at it in the right light. ;) Sometimes I just have to grin at the things that get people all worked up. My personal experience is that life is wayyyyy too busy, and wayyyyy too short (<- ha pun! :rotfl:) to worry about what others do or don't do when I am on vacation. :goodvibes I will just say this though. I did however notice at the adult pool, there was a lady I saw on several occasions who wore the most beautiful colored straw hats - the large floppy kind - and it matched her bathing suit (different colors) every time I saw her. I was VERY jealous that she could look so glamorous and have all that room to pack those large hats!! :flower3: That's my only recollection of anyone elses dress. She rocked those hats! ::yes::

My PAT is11:30. I'd like to show up earlier if I could. Does anyone know If that would be a problem? Also what time do they open the port and start letting people in?

Google maps says .4 miles maybe 6-7 Galveston blocks. We plan on walking. :)

I can't vouch for the food, as I've never eaten there, but the reviews are decent on tripadvisor. It's pretty hard to mess up eggs though.
