9/23/06 Let's go!!!! Who's with us???

Paula's doing her homework! :thumbsup2

I wanted to add some more to this awesome thread tonight but I'm really, really tired. I drove to Western Maryland (4 hours) yesterday morning to be mind the children and house of one of my best friends who was in the hospital with a scheduled induction to have a baby. I returned just a few hours ago. I'm not complaining. It was worth it. I always forget how tired all that driving makes a person. It didn't help matters that I had to share a bed with my daughter who kicks, steals covers, and talks in her sleep. I'm happy tired though.

For now, here's my list

To Do:
1. make a list
2. do the things on the list.

p.s. Paula I'm buying a dress for formal night. I have a red, silk dress for semiformal night but it won't cut it for a formal night.

Oh gosh, I feel totally unprepared!

Only 1 month to go :woohoo:

I have done nothing. Other than brought a suit for DS on ebay.
Angie

I was afraid of that kind of outcome. I came really close to buying the boys' suits on ebay. Was it a store or a person you bought from?

Just thought I would pop in and say "Hi". I've been lurking but have not had the opportunity to post.

I am so excited that we only have 1 month until the cruise. :cheer2:  My boys are so excited about this cruise. I ended up changing our flight. We will be coming in Fri morning instead of Fri night. I bought tickets to attend MNSSHP that night. I'm so happy that I will get the chance to go to the Magic Kingdom - it's my favorite!!!!

As far as "to do lists" go, I've got so many it's not even funny. And I feel like I have not gotten anything done. I just got a promotion at work and everything is soooo hectic. I'm learning a new job and still doing my old job :sad2:

What I find hard to understand is that my boss expects me to do work when he knows I am in the midst of putting the finishing touches on our trip :lmao:

I come here to read the boards as an escape from the madness that is my life. I need a VACATION!!!

I am trying not to rush the next month because I don't want my trip to be rushed. I want to enjoy and savor every single second.

I know I have not ben very active on this thread but I hope we all do get the chance to meet. It would be nice to put a face with a screen name.

Well, I'm off to bed where hopefully I will have "Magic"al dreams!!

Have a great day tomorrow everybody!!

Hi Paula!

You won't be the only person dressed up on formal night! I am wearing a floor length gown that I bought about 5 years ago. It's funny because I actually intended to buy a new gown and when I was shopping at Dillard’s I saw my gown in a different color on the main display with an almost $300 price tag. Um, I guess my dress is not out of style after all. :rotfl: It is navy and floor length. It is the type of dress that looks like separates but really one piece. The bodice is shimmery and striped and has a high neckline with no sleeves. My DD is wearing a pink gown that is very girly and fun. DH will be wearing a jacket, slacks and tie.

Hi Again. I'm Paula from Colorado.

Angie, where do you live? We will also be on a 3 week break from school so I figure you are on a year round track system?

We are so excited! DS is 11 and can't wait. DH and I are just as excited!

I am starting to panic about having everything ready. I have spent a small fortune on clothes but at least I waited until late in the summer to hit the sales.

I have read most of the board now except for about 7 pages in the middle so I feel like I know you all.

I do have a queation about formal night. How formal are you going to dress? I keep thinking I'll be the only one dressed formally. True?

4 weeks from Friday we fly!

Can't wait to meet you all and I think a "meet and greet" for this thread would be great.

See you soon,
Paula :cool1:

APB513,

We are also attending MNSSHP! We are going after the cruise though. If we see each other on the ship you will have to give me a report on the party. I will be anxious to know all the fun details. The moccasins for my DD's Pocahontas costume came in the mail yesterday and they look so darn cute on her. We should get the costume any day now! How old are your DS's? My DD is 3 going on 13. ;)

I hear you on adding things on an hourly basis! I think I am finished buying clothes except that I want to buy my DH a couple of more shirts. DD and I are more than covered!

Speaking of rolling suitcases I bought one (actually a rolling backpack style but the size of a suitcase) for DD for $15.99 + an additional 10% off. It came yesterday and she is in love with it. I think she will easily be able to roll it around the airport which is what I was hoping for. This will be our first airport trip without a stroller so I am hoping the rolling suitcase will slow her down a little. :rotfl:

Oh gosh I feel like a million things still need to be done, but in reality there isn't "that" much LOL :rotfl2: I still need to find a pretty semi-formal gown... It is VERY tough for me... I am a BBW [big beautiful woman] but am VERY short 5' even. I have a hard enough time finding normal clothes, let alone a nice dress. I know hubby still needs to buy some shorts and a few new shirts..I need to buy some new/pretty sandles for the girls....Their summer ones are shot.

I actully found a nice rolling tinker bell suitcase at walmart a few months ago for $15 and got the girls each one, and at the same time walmart had disney brand clothes..so I got the girls 7 new outfits each... will pack them into the tink cases and they are pretty much done...Remember the girls have no idea that we are going.

I've gotten all the Dramamine tablets, band aids, tums, tylenol, and frist aid stuff ready and together.
I got a cute beach tote bag, and a sun hat.
I've made hotel and flight reservations.
I bought the small over the door "shoe" organizer that will hold all of our small stuff...to keep it off the beds, counters and floors.
I've been putting $120 in a "secret" savings account for the past 8 months...I will hand hubby $800 and $80 to each of the girls for spending money. But hubbys will be for excursions and photos as well :thumbsup2

I know i'm forgetting a ton of stuff but i'm a HUGE list maker and will be adding stuff on a daily if not hourly basis i'm sure. :rotfl2: Can't wait to see all of your list... Have a great Wednesday everyone :yay:

Did anyone else buy these matching outfits from Disney Shopping? I saw on another thread that every time Disney has a great sale on tropical Disney themed clothes everyone on the ship is wearing it. So, will we have lots of twins on board? I actually think it would be fun and wouldn't bother me at all. We received them in the mail last night and everything fits great! :dance3:

I looked around at formal attire, but I am too much woman to look right in any of them. So I going to be wearing sunday best for formal/semi formal night.
I also looked at getting matching cruisewear for DD and myself - but she was having none of that!!!

What are everyone’s thoughts on meeting? I know it has been brought up several times casually but we have never ironed down anything specifically. I know I have hesitated to weigh in because I have no idea if I am going to be in a position to attend a scheduled meet with a daughter that is still napping. I have a 1:45 pedicure scheduled the first day and I am planning on leaving my DD and DH in the cabin napping so I hope that works out as well as it does in my mind. ;)

Several months ago, momx4grandmax4 suggested a 3:00 meeting in the promenade lounge on day one of the cruise. I think that is the only day/time that has been discussed. I know she is not going on this cruise anymore but I think she probably has the most experience with cruise meet ups so I say we keep it in the mix for now since it is our only proposed plan to date. :rotfl: I guess let's start by throwing out any other suggestions for the next 24 hours or so. After that maybe we can put all the suggestions up for a vote. Does that sound alright? Is there anyway to put a poll within an existing thread? :confused3 If not I guess we can do a manual poll and just add tally marks to our choice.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Happy saturday morning everyone!! :sunny:

I am just trying to keep us bumped up off page 2, it is about time for some more people to join our group :grouphug:
Our cruise is getting so close that I am surprised that we are such a small group still :confused3
But that has it's advantages too :thumbsup2
I can keep track of everyone without making out a huge list to try and memorize names. I am terrible with names, but great with faces  .

I know it may be a little early yet, but I want all of you to be thinking about having a cruise meet the first day. Just for 10 or 15 minutes so we can all meet and have faces to match with our names. For us, it has always been one of the biggest highlights of the cruise to meet people and then to see them around the ship all week and hear their stories of what they have been doing.

On our last few cruises we usually had our meet the first day in the Promenade lounge around 3:00 to 3:15 time slot.
The reason for this was you are suppose to be on the ship by 3, so everyone should be on board. Most people have found their rooms, checked in with the kids clubs and started exploring the ship. Plus that gives plenty of time before the safety drill at 4 p.m. The Promenade lounge is easy to find, lots of chairs and so far they have never had anything happening in there at that time where other areas of the ship are set up for doing other things.
If you wait til later that evening, most people are already too busy having a blast to want to stop for a meet, plus all areas of the ship are usually being used.
What are your opinions on this??? I am open for any suggestions and ideas you may have. :goodvibes This meet is for all of us, so lets hear any ideas out there??? :wizard:
I have spoken mine already. :woohoo:

Let me know what you think, time is flying by. :hourglass

Paula -- you won't be the only one dressed up for formal night. I plan to be in a tux with a black satin on black mickey vest and tie while my DW will be in a copper colored formal gown. I'm even taking a coat for "semi-formal" night -- it's a white linen jacket. Also -- where in Colorado are you -- we used to live in Highlands Ranch before moving to Kansas.

ABP13-- We too will be attending MNSSHP on the 22nd, but the kids don't know yet. I think a night at the Magic Kingdom is a great way to start off a Disney vacation!

vpalmer -- we don't have those particular matching outfits from the Disney store, but we bought a set last year. They are a little darker blue with a disney tiki theme to them. We saw about 10 other families with them on the cruise last year. Oh well.

I think Sunday best will work beautifully! :thumbsup2 How old is your DD? I never thought I would do that matching thing but one I had my DD I kind of got into it. THere is a brand called Hanna Andersson that has the cutest coordinating mother/dauther outfits and I try to get at least one a year. I figure I might as well do it now while she still loves it. I know it is just a matter of time before she will snub the idea and want nothing to do wtih i so I am taking full advantage now! ;)

I figure there is a good chance there will be several others with the same outfits but it's a chance I am willing to take. ;) There were so cheap it was impossible to pass them up!

I am all for meeting up - but is 3:00 late enough for all of those who want to meet to get onboard and acclimated to the ship? Or should we do this after the sail-away party?

One more question since I seem to be on a major roll today! :rotfl2: Are there any other scrapbookers on this cruise? I have been scrapbooking for about 6 years and can't wait to do a DCL album. Here are some pictures of an autograph album I did for my DD last December. I am skipping the autograph album this year though, I figure we can just use the Disney one this time around.

ETA: I can post more if anyone is interested. :wizard:

Well, I am far from an expert as this is my first cruise! :rotfl2: I think the Sail Away party is at 4:30, right? And the first dinner seating is at 5:30 with pictures starting around 5:00 or 5:15? Honestly, no matter what time we meet we are going to lose people to different events, that is just part of it.

Okay, so what is your thought to the location and specific time and I will add it to our poll tomorrow. :wizard:

We live in Wilmington NC. On the coast about an hour north from the SC state line.

This is my DD last year in year round as we do not have any year round middle schools. I don't know what I will do next year having her home the entire summer and NO fall break, NO Disney cruise! :guilty:

A person.

I emailed them and asked them to contact the second highest bidder to see if they still wanted it rather than have the hassle of relisting.

Hi VPalmer -

I'd be happy to give you a trip report on MNSSHP!

Yes, we will be twins!!! I ordered this dress for me and the shirt for my youngest son (my oldest son refused to wear one! :rotfl: ). The dress fits a little snuggly on me but I'm hoping to lose some more weight before the cruise.

Paula - I will be in a tux for formal night, so you won't be alone!

As for planning, we have done NOTHING! Cindy was on a business trip until last night, I will be headed to New York to compete in drum and bugle corps championships next week and then more marching events happen around here. So, we have too much stuff going on to pay attention to packing or planning.

I think we'll be OK soon enough. Anything that does not get done was not meant to be. It's vacation - the less mess, the more fun it is.

Happy packing all - our chain hit 29 last night! That's a fun psychological barrier to break through.

Cool! I ordered a size larger than my normal size because it was 100% cotton so I have plenty of room. :rotfl: Not that I couldn't stand to lose a few ponds as well. ;) What night are you thinking about wearing the outfits? I can't decide. I initially thought about Pirate Night because they are tropical but since they are not Pirate-like at all I can't decide. "Tinkerbell" is brining my DD a pirate hat and patch for pirate night so we may just do the matching outfits another night.

Speaking of Tinkerbell, is anyone else doing gifts from Tinkerbell? I bought 4 Little Adventures costumes and matching doll costumes for my DD's Build a Bear kitty since she is not into dolls at all. I plan to give her an autograph book our first night at the Hyatt, the costumes, pirate garb and other small souvenirs all from Tinkerbell. Anyone else?
