9/23/06 Let's go!!!! Who's with us???

Howdy everyone,
well the port web cam is still pointed the wrong way and it doesnt seem to be moving towards the ships at all :furious:
I know I can go to the two palms cam or the jetty park web cam to watch the ships pull out, but I am in the habit of looking to see them in port.
Anybody else having the same problem as me??

We are having a few more brush fires. One friday night closed the main route to the port again. Yesterday it was more toward Kissimmee, so no traffic problems to get tot he port, however around hunters creek it was horrible for closures. No homes lost or injuries, but some did have to evacuate for awhile. We get lots of lightning this time of the year and it always sets lots of fires.

we stayed home and enjoyed the pool yesterday. :goodvibes Too many tourists in the area to go anywhere around here. We may catch a movie this weekend, but mostly staying home to get over a cold and relax. DH got some more borders put up and washed the cars, and is now taking a well deserved nap in his recliner. :cloud9:
enjoy the weekend everyone,
Kathy

Monica,
Congrats on the scrabble game.
Sorry Becca, maybe next time you'll be victorious :confused3

You guys need to have a championship match on the ship. :goodvibes They have scrabble in the Promenade lounge. :thumbsup2 They have lots of board games stored there for guests. If you play, let me know and I'll come and cheer for both of you!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

WE fianlly got a little rain last night, maybe 1/2 an inch, which we needed very badly.

Have a good day everyone,
Kathy

 Just wanted to wish everyone a fun and safe holiday/monday. We are not doing much...just gonna do some MUCH needed laundry...of course with 4 kids still at home, a hubby, and myself when ISN'T laundry a much needed thing :lmao: And am gonna try to clean out and organize our closet.

My goal for this year was two things. 1-any used film that we ran across we would turn in and have it developed.... You see I am :teeth: REALLY REALLY GOOD at taking TONS of pictures, but  VERY VERY BAD at getting them to the film store and developing them. I have turned in 17 rolls this year so far. :cheer2: :cheer2:

My second goal was to SLOWLY oraganize things/places in our home. We have totally done our girls room, and most of our boys room, and the whole laundry room, 85% of our garage, and some of the great room... I really want to concentrate on our room/bath/closet now. :thumbsup2

Well, I need to go cook some breakfast... DH is gonna go pick up the kids from camping in a few hours... so gonna enjoy the little bit of quiet time that we have left. :cloud9:

Many :grouphug: & lots of

 I'm sure you all read/skim through the main post on the dsl boards...but just in case you didn't see/missed this one.. It is a cool site that a fellow diser has posted/down loaded some video clips of the :sail: sail away and pirate: pirates party. The priate one didn't come out good for me... It is EXTREMELY dark, but the other ones are nice... :thumbsup2 Hope you enjoy them ;)

Many :grouphug: & lots of

 Hello everyone, Ok this might sound like a stupid question :confused3 But In order to get a good rate we are concidering booking our next cruise while still on board...But to save a few $$ My question is...Can we book for say just DH and I, and later on when/if we transfer the reservation, can I then add 2 of our kids? that way we are only paying $500 for the deposit? :teeth: And will have more time to pay their $500?

Many :grouphug: & lots of

Hi, Everyone,

I could have sworn I posted a little while ago but maybe I didn't. I don't see my post. I'm so tired I'm not sure if I'm dreaming already. The girls' camp I attended many years ago held a weekend long reunion and I just got home late this afternoon.

Becca, that's an interesting strategy you're considering. I don't see why it couldn't work since you won't need a second room. You wouldn't save money on their reservations like you will on your own but if your concern is shelling out a bigger deposit, it sounds doable. Are you going to call your TA to run it by her or him? I am looking forward to playing your dh at Scrabble. I guess I play well enough but I'm nothing compared to some on that site. Qwerty or Scrabble, I'll play you anytime. Please let me know when your dh has a username and wants a game.

Kathy, I can't believe how long these fires have been going on. What a headache.

Good morning everyone, :sunny:

As long as your kids are in the same room as you I cant think of any reason you couldnt do it that way. Once after we had our room booked we decided to take a family friend along, so we called an booked him in our room with us.
We had no problem at all. we did our booking directly through DCL so it was really easy. If you book on board it should work the same for you. :thumbsup2

Monica,
your right about these fires. There are just hanging in there. 2 more roads that go to the port area are closed again due to smoke. We are suppose to get some rain later in the week, but I have heard that story before!! :confused3 unfortunately even though the rain should help, we always get lightning this time of the year which will cause more fires!! We need a good downpour on and off for a few days to even start to help. The under brush is so thick they cant even get in to fight most of it. All they can do is let it burn itself out, dump water from copters and a few places they can cut fire lines, but not many. June is the start of our rainy season so hopefully that will help, of course it is the start of hurricane season too!! :rolleyes1

It's pretty quiet around here today, which can be good I guess.
Have a great day everyone,
Kathy

Welceom back to our regularly scheduled week. The holiday was nice, but for those of us that like consistency, back to normal is good.

Becca, I believe your thinking is wise. We considered doing that (deposit for 2 - add the third later) to lock in a lower rate. However, the extra money becamse available and we did not have to test the system. I think you'd be wise to ask the booking agent on board. Of course if it were me - I'd broach the subject along the lines of "we are not sure if our kids are coming, but we know we will be sailing.."

Good luck in booking. Our plan for now is to look at either the new Freedom, the Voyager of the Seas (which will be close to home in Galveston next year) or head out on a Princess sailing to Alaska (we did Princess 2 years ago and really liked it) next year, so booking with Disney again likely won't be a priority. Although Brooke may try to impose her opinions on the decision once there!

Here's hoping that the fires in FL dissipate. My grandparents live in Ocala, so we get some updates occasionally. My understanding of the situation from his comments is that all the underbrush is the cause of these fires. Here's hoping controlled burns will be allowed again.

 Forgive me Scott, but will this be the first DCL sailing for you? Was wondering if not...then why are you going on another cruise line? We have done Carnival and RCCL, and are hoping that DCL is better then them, but price wise DCL is MUCH higher then the other two. And I we have ONLY cruised out of either Los Angeles, or San Deigo before, so didn't have to pay for air fair...

It was EYE OPENING for me...For the four of us, round trip to Orlando was just over $1250.00, then the transfers $125.00, and hotel $150 per night...which will equal three nights... two before the cruise..and one the day we get off the cruise... We couldn't find a fight out that left after 11am that wouldn't get into Sacramento till 2am+

So with JUST all of "extras" that we normally don't have to pay for, we could pay for a 7 nighgt cruise for DH and I on Carnival. :rotfl2: .

Was just interested in what your theroy is. :)

Many :grouphug: & lots of  everyone

Howdy everyone, :wave2:
Hey i was just looking over our thread and realized that Peaches 23 hasnt posted in weeks :confused3
Peaches are you still out there? I hope you are still coming with us. :thumbsup2
Drop us a line and let us know how you are doing. :goodvibes

I feel badly for people who are driving to the port tomarrow. We have 3 major fires going again!! 2 major roads on the way to the port are closed today and last night. :guilty:
I hope they allow extra time to get there so they dont miss the ship!
They keep saying rain is coming, but it never seems to appear.

Next week I will buy my magnetic sheets to make door signs. I had a couple left here, but wound up using them on our May 5th cruise. ;)

Hope eveyone has a great day!! It's over the hump day, then another week will be gone!! The cruise is that much closer. :woohoo:

Kathy

We've done 4 Disney Cruises, 1 Royal Caribbean, 1 Carnival, and 1 Princess.

The only one of those that was off-putting was the Carnival trip. It was not so horrible to never sail Carnival again, but it had some issues that we'd prefer to avoid if possible.

We do enjoy the Disney product, but those prices are just too hard to swallow consistently. Especially when the product is not THAT much better. I know that sounds odd from a die hard Disney fan. For example, on Princess, we were able to do any time dining. That was a nice feature. The outdoor movie screen each night supplanted the bad entertainment offerings (we prefer the Disney Broadway version - plot based - to the other ships Vegas style - review/dance based entertainment) on board and so on. So where Disney zigs, the other lines zag; We CAN find nice offerings. That said, if prices and itineraries were equal, we'd be loyal Disney patrons. But that is just mom and dad speaking - once Brooke gets all her Mickey and Princess fixes, we may not have much choice!

Fortunately for us, airfare is not as stifling as it is for others. Living in the center of the country we don't have staggering airfare costs to add on top of a cruise in order to get to a ship. Plus, with Galveston 4-5 hours away, we can always drive there. With the Voyager coming to Galveston, the big new ship experience is available.

Good morning everyone,

It is hot and humid today :sunny:
Only 3 minutes of rain last night :sad2:

They even have a brush fire on Disney property. It is off on land that hasnt been developed yet, so no danger to anyone and the news said it is pretty much contained today. :thumbsup2
Still having road closures on the way to the port. Lots of smoke still.

Well I am off to the store and bank before it hits 90 plus out. I want to get some frozen stuff and keep it frozen until I get home!! ;) That can be a challenge this time of the year. Lots of people use ice chests, but I am too lazy to do that.

Have a great day everyone,
Kathy

Hi everyone!!!! School's out!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We've been out for a week now and haven't heard "I'm bored" yet, so things are great! We have a small pool (the Blue Blob) that we finally got up a few days ago and my kids are trying to grow gills. It's so hot!!!

Kathy~ we had about 45 minutes of good steady rain today. I went outside and blew it in your direction. Hope it gets to ya. I just can't believe all these fires. :sad2:

Did eveyone stock up on their hurricane supplies? We had to get more flashlights because "Not Me" and "I don't know" lost ours. :rolleyes1 I just pray that we don't have another bad season. We've lost too much of our natural beauty.

Well, another month passed and I haven't lost a single pound!!!! It was all of those end of the year parties, 5th grade BBQs, etc. I swear I'm serious now! :yay: My dad actually rescheduled a doctor's appointment from AFTER the cruise to BEFORE. That way he can eat more!

I need to get busy on my door signs. I got the paper, now I just need to get busy on my designs. I downloaded the Disney font yesterday and it's so cute. I have to get more ink tomorrow and then I'm all set.

Cheri

Hi Cheri,
We got about 2 minutes worth of sprinkles this afternoon when I went out to the store. So it worked. :thumbsup2 THANKS!! :goodvibes
But next time blow harder so we get more than 2 minutes worth. OK?? :confused3

We appreciate all the help we can get right now. Lots of pixie dust needed this year :wizard:

Have a great night everyone,
kathy

HAPPY FRIDAY :woohoo:

We are one week closer, actually it's June, so we are a month closer :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We may finally get to go to WDW. I havnt been feeling too good the past 3 weeks so we have been staying home. I hope tomarrow to go to MGM studios to meet a lady I met on another cruise thread before they go on their first DCL cruise on Sunday. :cloud9: I love meeting people whom I have been chatting with for a few months. It is so much fun to do.
I have never been disappointed yet!!! :thumbsup2
Maybe catch the new X-men movie i :3dglasses in the afternoon when it gets too hot to walk around in the parks.

Have a great weekend everyone and try to keep us bumped up!!
