9/23/06 Let's go!!!! Who's with us???

Hi everyone!!!!

It's only a 4 hour drive for us, and we wouldn't be able to leave here till after 5:00 pm anyway. So, I think a hotel would just be a waste of $$$$$$. What do y'all think? :confused3

I vote for coming in the night before. A four hour drive is pretty draining on everyone and especially for whoever is doing the driving. Don't you think? I'm sure you've done long car trips before. Even if it only takes you four hours (no complications to stall you), there's great meltdown potential by dinner time Saturday. I know it bites to shell out almost a 100.00 for a place to crash, but it's worth it to be well rested on embarkment day and have a bit more wiggle room with day.

That's some kind of prize your MIL won, and it's sweet that your MIL and you love each other enough that she would pick you to be part of the group..... or is it that she thinks you REALLY need a makeover? ;) I hope you all have a great time.

Oh My!!! We were on the bottom of page 2! :confused3

Well, yesterday was not exactly what I thought it would be. Turns out the "facial and makeover" was just a makeup party where someone was trying to get us to spend $$$$. :rolleyes2 It was makeup that was supposed to stay on all day until you take it off. My face was very shiney and the stuff did flake off over the rest of the day. And it was very expensive. lip color + lip gloss was $35!!!! :scared1:

Oh well, today is going to be better. I'll be spending all day talking about the cruise!! :dance3: Everyone's coming over and we're gonna grill and plan our excursions. Hopefully we'll decide on the hotel thing.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Rats, I was hoping to see what would happen if we let the thread languish long enough to reach page 3. LOL. Considering how much more we want to chat now that the cruise is getting closer and closer, I don't think it's going to happen.

That's down right sneaky to tell someone they won a pampering package and it's just a sales ploy. Shame on them. Did you buy any cosmetics? I hardly ever wear make up and when I do it's Mary Kay.

Somehow I was not surprised by the "makeup" party. Gotta love those gym marketing scams. It's becoming, for me, a huge eye opener when an establishment is legitimate in it's give away or survey opportunities. You mean there are no strings attached? I am SHOCKED!

More Texas heat - 100 degrees and no rain in sight - sigh...

At least Florida will get some relief from it's rain shortages. And thankfully the storm is not a full strength job. Hurricane season is indeed here.

Happy Monday gang.

Howdy,

I just wanted to share with you guys.

WE HAVE RAIN!!!!!!

Where I live should get 2 to 4 inches in the next 36 hours!!! :woohoo:

There was a brush fire buring at Four corners all weekend. The smoke from there has been going to the animal kingdom and really upsetting the animals.

Anyway i wanted to say HI and share our good news.

Hope you guys are all doing great and I will stop in once in awhile so say Hi, if you dont mind.

Take care,
Kathy

:teeth: You silly, why the heck would we mind... Your still part of our cruise family, :grouphug: and technically you did start this thread.. :rotfl: Oh and congrats :thumbsup2 on the MUCH needed rain.

Brerrabit, I am sooo sorry that they coned you into going to nothing more then a sales pitch. :furious: That was NOT nice of them. As for :moped: driving down...I vote for the night before... You NEVER know what might happen... And I would rather not take the chance. :thumbsup2

Scott, I agree with you about the legit contest... pirate: I used to enter MASSIVE amounts of online contest...& while I did win a few of them...Nothing big... A cookbook, a Daily Show with John Stewart gift box, and other misc. items.... What I mostly won was A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS...since my old one was FLOODED daily with HUNDREDS of Spam emails. :furious: Oh well, live and learn :teacher:

We had a very nice, :Pinkbounc but VERY busy weekend... We all were soooo exhausted by last night, that my twins fell alseep by 6:30, my girls by 7:30 and I was OUT by 8:15pm. :teeth: DH made it till 9pm. What a sorry bunch are we... :lmao:

Today is a clean the house and do some laundry day.... Nothing exciting... :cheer2: But sadly necessary :rotfl: Hope you all have a nce week... Many :grouphug: & lots of ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo pluto: Love.

 Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you knew about a hotel that a friend of mine told me about...They remembered the hotel, but NOT the name :lmao: Any way the hotel is near the port and has a REALLY COOL water/pool/slide available. they took the very same cruise :boat: [magic 7 nights] 2 years ago with their two little ones and stayed at this hotel..What they remembered the most was the awesome pool area. It has water slides, water fall, big pool, and they thought a lazy river? Dose this sound familiar to anyone :confused3

We already have the new Residence Inn booked, but we are flying in a day and a half before departure and if the other hotel is better for kids we might switch reservations. :rolleyes1 Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many :grouphug: & lots of ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo Love

I started trying to read all of this thread and it is a little overwhelming. Is there a summary of who is sailing?

There will be 5 of us - DM, DH, Me, DS9, DS3.

I would love to find a pen pal for our DS9, so that he knows someone when we get there!

Are there any meets planned?

Thanks,
Beth

Hi, Beth,

Welcome! We have a 9 year old (as of yesterday) ds too. I don't think there are many of us with boys this age on this thread so I'm glad to see someone with one. My name is Monica. I'm traveling with my husband and 3 children. We sailed last April (as you can see from my sig line). How about you and your family? I'm guessing you are a veteran DCL cruiser. :)

We seem to talk about the weather pretty often. Where are you from and how's the weather?

Welcome aboard Beth - no boys here, just a 4 year old daughter and a XX year old wife! :)

I think the one they're talking about is the Ron Jon Resort. It is beautiful!!!!! I thought about getting a room there, but it would be wasted on us.
The website is www.ronjonresort.com.

Welcome, Beth!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: My kids are waaaay older than yours (11,14), but we will have a 4yr old girl and her family with us.

Monica-I'm glad to hear that there is another 9 year old boy!! Does your son like to do the clubs?

We will be getting there the day before and staying at the Radisson. When will you be getting there?

This will be our 6th DCL cruise. Our last was 9/05. We like going during our anniversary week, but we may have to switch to another time of year so our kids don't miss so much school!

We live in Georgia and the weather is beautiful today, but it is supposed to get very hot with no rain over the next week!

Are there any meets or anything set-up yet?

Scott-We have a soon to be 3 DS who will be in the same club as your
daughter, if she does the clubs.

Beth

 Hello Beth.... Welcome... Sailing will be :lovestruc Me, :groom: DH and our two younger girls... :cheer2: Jennah will be 10 and princess: Macy will be 7, but neither know that we are going... I CAN'T stand the daily "how much longer" questions... :lmao: We will also be sailing with DH's Two sisters... and his one sister is married, so her DH and two of their daughters who will be 13 and 5. DH also has a co-worker and his wife and their three kids.... two boys ages 16 and 12 and a little girl aged 6. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

DH and I have been on several cruises, :boat: but this will be our first DCL cruise. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo Our oldest has been on several, and our younger girls went on the Carnival Pride last year...BUT THEY HATED it.. :furious: .so hopefully this will go much better :thumbsup2

As for meet and greets nothing has been set up yet... The orginal person who started this thread just had to cancel threir cruise last week :sad2: ...So we all are leaderless :rotfl2:

Again :welcome: and hope to get to know you better.

many :grouphug: & lots of ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo Love

sftslky,

Thanks for the welcome! We are looking forward to the cruise!

DH and I went on the Pride in 2002 from Port Canaveral and loved it, but we did not take the kids on that trip (that could have something to do with it).

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Thanks,
Beth

Hi Beth! :welcome: Glad you found the thread. We have a 9 year old son and he has really enjoyed the clubs on past cruises. I expect that he will enjoy it again.

Busy here so not much time to post. Take care,

Hi Hiedi!

I am glad to know there is another 9YO boy! Thank you for the welcome! I'm glad I found the thread also! I don't want DS9 to spend the whole time in the club, but I would like him to go some because I think he would have fun.
What does your son like to do? Which seating do you have? We have early.

How was your Pride of America cruise?

Thanks,
Beth

Heidi, All this time on this thread AND setting up the yahoo group database, and I didn't realize you had a 9 year old son. Shame on me.

Isn't it great? We're under the 100 day mark? You know that trip chain I made, Leah told the months of the year on the chain are blue, yellow, white and green instead of June, July, August and September.

Monica,

I love your photos! Makes me ready to be there! How did you like Stingray City? We are trying to figureout what we want to do, because I don't want to just end up going to the beach at every port.

Which dinner seating do you have? What does your DS9 like to do?

Is the Yahoo database for this cruise?

Beth

 Hello everyone. Just droping in to say Happy Saturday :sunny: I hope you all will do are are doing something that you enjoy :thumbsup2 DH and I are going to see the movie The Break Up..... it looks soooo funny :happytv: Then this afternoon we have a couples only Bunko/pot luck party. :Pinkbounc I  bunko. Then tomorrow is church and probably to dinner for daddys day ;)

Wanted to say :thanks: to brearabbit for the ron johns info. The place looks awsome :cloud9: We are 95% sure that we are gonna switch our reservations over to them. Have any of you actually stayed there? :confused3 They are actually an RCI time share place with spaces set aside just for non-owners. While we do own a time share in Vegas that we turn into RCI yearly points, we are not going to use them for the two days at Ron Johns. :woohoo:

Well, I sould run have to make a HUGE pot of homemade chili and cornbread for the pot luck. :stir: Have a great Fathers Day Weekend all. :yay:
