Majeda - Nice to meet you! Monica has started a yahoo group for our sailing. To join the yahoo group, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sailinginseptember/ and click the "join this group" button at the top of the page on the right side. Monica approves the new members.

If anyone has not booked flights yet, Southwest is having a great sale going on for trips to FL. I had actually booked earlier this month and got a great rate of 79$ each way. However, the price went down to 49$ during this sale. I was able to get the lower price, but could not get the difference back on my credit card, but did get a credit with Southwest. So those of you who have not booked, do it now on Southwest. Those of you who have booked, call to get that credit!..

Welcome majeda and princesslondon! It's great to "see" more of our fellow cruisers here. KSDisney, I have 11 and 9 year old boys, too. When it comes to a Disney Cruise, our boys have a one track mind, THE LAB.

That's fantastic about Southwest's prices. If we hadn't gotten a good promotional deal with the Auto Train, I'd book flights on SW in a heartbeat. Even though the airport experience is no longer fun, we've always had good experiences with SW.

I wanted to look up Paradise Beach but the search function isn't working. This has been going on for a while and it's driving me nuts! Anyone else?

Hi everyone -

It's been awhile since I've been here. Things have been crazy around here but hopefully everything is settling down now.

I've been so preoccupied that I have not had time to really think about the cruise (how crazy is that?!) But I made my final payment and was able to book a dinner at Palo's for my son 18th b-day so I am really trying to get back into cruise planning mode.

I have not had a chance to read all of the old posts yet but I did notice that we have some new people on board since I was last here. Let me say "Welcome to you all". :grouphug:

Hi, Angela

That's terrific to hear you were able to get reservations for Palo and what a special way to celebrate an 18th birthday with your son. It's a ways off for my kids, but I would LOVE to do the same thing with each one. I've got 6-1/2 years to go. :hourglass

It's been kind of quiet on this thread the past few days. Busy weekends?

If any of the boys about the same age as my boys would like to email, my guys would be into that. If you email or PM me, I'll give you their email address.

OT: Hot, hot, hot here! 98 degrees but feels like 101 according to the experts. We're all participating in Cub Scout camp this week. There's ice water at every activity station and we (den guides) must witness each boy drinking from their water bottles at some time during the activity.

We purchased our airling tickets yesterday. Unfortunately we are a little late! We had to wait on a reimbursement check in order to purchase the flight. As a result of a slow arrival, it cost us a little over $200 from a fare sale that had been running. Oh well..

Heat is something we can relate to here in TX. 104 the last couple of days. and NO rain in sight over the last number of weeks and those coming ahead. We are in a severe drought situation over the last two years, so this is more insult to injury. We've had mild summers the last couple of years (highs only reaching upper 90's), so we were due, but that is small solace when the high temps hit. Look out for the nasty electric bills coming - ugh...

Has anyone with a GTY been assigned a room number yet? I keep checking every day & I know the boards say that I probably wont get a room assignment until about a month out....but has anyone had any luck?

Also, I have a very bored 12 y/o daughter at home who would love to chat with girls around her age going on this cruise. If there are any takers please let me know and I can get in touch with you off line.

Tata,
M :sunny:

The Disney Cruise we booked a GTY cabin, we did not find our cabin assignment until the day we boarded the ship. So, you could go to that extreme. We were pleased with just being on the ship. We had to walk a little to get to our cabin, but we bumped up one category, so it was a fair trade to have a little mystery!

Scott - That's not what I wanted to hear :( I want to know NOW!
I guess I am a product of the instant gratification generation.

I have reserved a space on the disney bus, but was reconsidering taking a towncar. Has anyone taken the disney bus? I heard that it takes forever and that I will not get to the port until later in the afternoon. Thoughts, suggestions????

Scott, now I know why I never want to live in Texas. The heat eased up today but Monday and Tuesday were brutal. To make matters worse, we lost power Tuesday after dinner. Electric was restored around 11pm. It could have been worse.

One more day of extreme heat here. They are forecasting 104 and then we break out the winter coats for a high of 93 on Saturday. We are SO thankful for that. Our electrical grid did rather well. While the authorities indicated we hit record power usage, the state is used to the heat each summer, so we could manage it. The only thing worse than the bad heat is having to suffer without A/C - so my hat is off to you for dealing with that. It's not fun. One night a few years back we did lose power and I could not stand it any longer. I climbed on a float and fell asleep in the pool!

Sorry - the tradeoff on the GTY booking is the liklihood of an upgrade for the ability to know where you are located. I always encourage folks though to not worry about location. We've up high, down low, mid ship and extreme front and back - we've never really noticed a difference or advantage to any of the locations. After about a day and a half, the traffic patterns become obvious and you get used to your location. It's all very good!

We have done the buses. We liked it. You will arrive a little later, but you'll walk off the bus, check in and walk on the ship in many cases. The bus is nice in that they show videos, so the kids can be distracted. We will be taking the bus from the Airport Hyatt Saturday morning.

Scott,

We are staying at one of the hotels near the airport and taking the bus Saturday morning. What time has your family scheduled to take the bus? Were do we catch the bus?

Rats! I wanted to catch a gliimpse of the Magic today but I forgot all about it. Has anyone else been taking a peak? Nine weeks from today......What will you be doing 9 weeks from right now? I'd like to think I'd be up partying but I know I'll probably be asleep.

I think the buses start running about 10:30 from the airport, but I could be wrong. I don't have any verification on that right at hand.

We are now starting to look at a car rental. Even with gas prices - a rental and gas will be cheaper for three of us - especially when you factor in a desire to go to Downtown Disney with that flexibility.

 Hi everyone... Its been SOOOOOOOOO very hot here :furious: :furious: We are in out 10th day of over 105 degrees each day.... and the past 4 have been over 111 we topped out at 117. On Saturday our whole sub-division lost power for over 4 hours... We literally have our AC on at 70 degrees 24/7 but it can only cool our house down to 78+ degrees... I am soooooooo miserable... I normally don't tolarate the heat well, but now i'm on two diffrent meds that make me even more heat sensitive. :guilty: :guilty: I woke up this morning with the LOW getting only down to 87 degrees... I was on the verge of tears... :guilty: I can't do this much longer. The heat has killed three people in our town the past few days...and our neighbors cars are now minus some windows...the heat is busting them out....the heat blew out my pistons?? [the two things that hold up the trunk] out of my brand new Yukon XL, and the paint/plastic surface of my dash is bubbling and peeling all over... So I have to take it in tomorrow to the GMC dealer.. :moped: Thankfully my yukon is only 6 months old and everything is still under warranty. :thumbsup2 Ok I will stop whinning now... :rotfl:

Last Saturday was my Jennahs 10th birthday... :bday: We had a nice party, party: and I [stupidly]  agreed to have 7 ten year olds for an over nighter.... UUUGGG they woke up the twins 6 times throughout the night... I told Jennah... Sweetie from now on... only 2 or 3 girls and NOT THE LOUD ones :teeth:

I haven't even thought of the cruise for the past few weeks...just been busy trying to get four kids ready for school in less then one month... And getting ready of DH and mine Drama/Worship Arts retreat...the REALLY good thing about the retreat is that it is up in Half Moon Bay...which is MUCH MUCH cooler then in this FRIGGEN valley... It is typically in the mid 70's during retreat...

Well, the plumber is on his way...We suddenly developed leaks in our hall bath tub and toilet, and our dishwasher... all on the same day...so something is going on?? thank goodness for Home Appliance Warranty :thumbsup2 Have a super Monday all....

Much ::MinnieMo & ::MickeyMo Love.

Well, Becca, that is some kind of rough week you're having with the heat and the car and the plumbing. I was wondering why we haven't seen you around in a bit. As you can see, it's been quiet around here in general. I wonder why your bathroom and dishwasher plumbing has gone cablooey like that. Our washer, dishwasher and refrigerator are having a race to the appliance junk yard and it's looking like it's going to be a three-way tie.

Lately, I've been very interested in reading the DCL forums and also looking up directions and reading about the islands and the Kennedy Space Center. I think it's a means of mental escape. LOL. Today, I mapquested and printed the directions for getting from the Residence Inn to the port.

You know what would be kind of cool? If any of us could link our Palo brunch or dinner reservations and eat together. Or another idea, the ladies have brunch together. We have brunch reservations on the 24th and dinner on the 28th.

How are my fellow weight-losers doing? Not much progress here. I still go to my weight training appts but I've skipped the aerobics way too many times. Last week I was at Scout camp and too tired at night, the week before I hurt my back, the two weeks before that I had company. Excuses, excuses, excuses.

The heat is nasty! I am so thankful our heat wave broke. We have never been so happy to have temps top out at 97! My heart goes out to you out there Becca. Hang in there, hopefully this pattern will break soon for everyone. While we are cooler, we are still begging for rain, so it's not all better yet. It's been a tough summer. Thank goodness a cruise lies at the end of the road!

Hi! This is my first post on the DIS boards, although I have been reading for a while. This is our 2nd Disney cruise. We done a 4 day Wonder July05. My husband, our almost 4 yr old son and myself are looking forward to the 7 day venture. We are from Eastern coast of NC. Love and appreciate all of the advise on the boards.

Take care,
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
