I'm with you on the "looks" when I mention going on another cruise. And then get even weirder looks when I tell them I'm going solo, which is WAY more expensive than if I had extra people! They seem to tune me out when I try to tell them that I've had it booked and been paying it off for over a year... it's amazing what you can do with $50 here or $100 there! Can't wait to be there... it's coming fast now! Guess I should finish up my FE gifts and actually sit down and make my FE!

While I don't have any new pics of myself, here (for your viewing pleasure) is the beautiful canyon near my home that I visited yesterday... ;)

Wow, those pictures are BEAUTIFUL!! And you live there? Lucky!!!

Glad to see so much activity on here! You guys are getting me SO excited!! :cheer2:

Quick question...is there anyone NOT getting passports for their cruise? I know it's close to the date, but I just can't decide! :confused3

nvcruiser, love those pictures! Do you have a spare room?? HAHA.
Tiffany, I struggled with the decision of getting our passports last year for that cruise, but we did. The reason I did it was because a dear friend of ours with the military had said you should be safe than sorry and just get them for piece of mind. You never know if anything may happen and you certainly don't want to get stuck somewhere. But I think it is up to you, I am a worrier, so I didn't want to take a risk. BUT, I know people do it all the time and it's all good. Plus, my DH was born in Germany and if I ever lost his original birth certificate, I knew it would take forever to get a new certificate (easier for me to replace his passport if we lose it).

wow! so many postings since I was here yesterday! I love it!

kileybeth- the roof storage story is hilarious...yes Sinderelly...take pics!!

nvcruiser_ beautiful scenary around your home...WOW.

hannahguad- people are just jealous that we get to cruise DCL :woohoo:and they are lucky you did not slap them when they mentioned your dh's salary ;) (people can be so rude AND negative)

my feeling about people making snarky comments about us cruising....I do not need their opinion unless they are going to pay my fare!!:rolleyes1 or should I say my credit card bills :lmao:or DEBT :rotfl2:

gretchen- your family is beautiful...all that Mickey stuff reminds me of a funny pic of my dh! and your girls in their princess attire! Love it!

tonysmom and lcrain - so glad to see your pics too. Tony is handsome and you both look great in your pics too...even if one is tiny-winy!

Tiffany- we all got passports! Cost a fortune but we got them!

well I hope I did not leave anyone out! I am so enjoying all the activity here....it is so fun! let's keep it up!popcorn::

Gretchen. - if you'll paste the picture link in the "reply" box and add
at the end of the address it should post.

we do not have passports, we'll be using our birth certificates.

Ok, I have been trying to post pictures this way for 6 months but could only post links. If this works I am going to be so happy  It is an old picture of my DH and my oldest DD

Wow it worked! I can't beleive it. I have tried everything and could not figure it out ( I am really bad with computers).

Gamomof2, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!:worship:

Everyone will be sick of me posting pictures now:rotfl:

Kileybeth: Love reading your posts, they always make me laugh. I can't wait to meet you

Disneyfan: We got passports last year when we went to DW. We didn't really need them then but got them anyway just to be on the safe side ( which I always am. No living on the edge for me!). Thank goodness we did because we would have had to buy them now just to cross the border and that would have added over $300:scared1:

Great picture mamajojo!! your DD is a real doll, Congrats!! :)

Hey everyone, loving the activity, all the pics are great, the stories are keeping me laughing at work and I can't believe how close we are getting to sailing :) Not much news from us now except...
:banana:The bracelets have shipped!!!!
They probably won't get here for another week or so, but they are on their way, I can't wait to see them and to post pics!
To answer a question: we have passports but only becasue we have both traveled international recently. I don't see why they are necessary though, unless you think you may use it in the next ten years you could save the money and spend it on DOTD's instead :yay:
Hope everyone is having a great week! DF and I are off to a family reunion and a wedding this weekend! I do nto have one weekend between now and the wedding/ honeymoon free! :scared1:

Hi!

It's great to see everyone out on the lively boards! I asked this long ago, but now with more of you onboard, thought I would ask again who the older single cruisers were! :flower3: I know Tammy's mom is going to be there!

My Mom (71) will be travelling with us (Dad does not like to travel much so she is leaving him at home!), she will have her ECV and in a hdcp room so she is not on our FE list. Anyhow, there are a few excursions that she may not be able to join us on and I know she would love to talk and meet some others. Last time she met someone on the last day and wished it was sooner. Not sure if anyone else's parents or just Moms are going?!

Or if you see her on the ship in her red scooter be sure to say hello!!! An automobile accident messed up her back and she hates not being able to run around with the kids anymore! (a few years ago, some idiot going 90mph on a city street took out 5 cars and hers was one of them)

Thank you so much, as I mentioned though that was an OLD picture. She is now 17 years old.:scared1: This is a more recent ( even this is a couple of years old) picture of her. Unfortunalty ( We will miss her but this was the only time we could go.) she has decided that she can not go on vacation with us this year, since this is her last year of high school and she is going to university. As sad as this makes me, I am proud of her for taking school so seriously. I was shocked when I told her we were going in Sept and after thinking about it she told me she wasn't coming. I am sure when the little ones find out, they will be sad:sad1:

Mamajojo, Hope everything post OP is going well. I just have to say, I really can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing your gorgeous DD17 is not cruising. . . you see, our DS17 who is cruising with us does have eyes in his head and all:rotfl:

We also bit the bullet and "invested" in them. So although the DH and I already had passports and the older two DS had them, the four that are actually cruising with us did not so $387 ($355 for passports and $32 for pics) dollars and four weeks to the day later, we are Passported up! And three of those expire in just 5 years! Stink! I think I would have held out on the younger ones and used birth certificates but DH wanted me to go ahead and get them.

YEAH!

Can't wait to see them. But really can't wait to hear all about that wedding! And you are in good company, we also have something every weekend until we sail, oh my! I just realized it when you said that and looked at my calendar, State Fair this weekend. Free tickets and food and a family tradition so off we go. Sponsered by DH current employer, guess it might be our last year to go free. . .

We sure will say Hello! How adventurous of her to keep getting out and doing things, my Mom is like that. Not much slows her down but it is soooo hard to see our parents getting older. What a rotten thing about the accident. Hope the chair helps and she isn't in a lot of pain.

Kileybeth-I really enjoy reading your posts. We will be staying @ CIS the night before the cruise and will look for you. I have really big sense of humor and enjoy others that also love a good laugh. :rotfl:

Yes, I imagine it will be entertaining for all who haven't been trapped in the car with these little urchins of mine!:rotfl2: My DH says we look like the Beverly Hillbillies when we travel. :sad2: but true I'm afraid. The teens are overjoyed at the discovery of Bonine (meclazine for motion sickness) as they used it for a cramped 16 hour ride and it worked. I will be passing it out like candy for the car trip down and the cruise! Not planning on having anyone toss their cookies and having to tell DCL about it! I just may put them all in plastic bubbles for 3 weeks or so before we go. Along with prayers that the media doesn't get going again with the H1N1 virus reporting. . .

and so glad I can provide a few laughs as we all sit around counting to 58 over and over again today. My preschoolers may learn to count to 100 yet! Oh the excitement around here!

Hi Penny, My DM is a single older traveler. She is going to be 73 on this cruise. She is participating in the FE, she is a kid at heart. She has limited mobility though because of knee problems, so she won't be venturing too much on the excursions. She will have a walker with her. Does your DM happen to like bingo? I know that I lost my DM several times on our last cruise because she ended up at bingo. She was on first name basis with them and she just loved that!
Talk soon

My DSis-in-law Sharon is 60 and my DBIL Edwin is 65, he is also a slow poke due to arthritis in his back and ankles (he still walks, just slowly)

Looks like thy will have plenty of company :cutie:

gamomof2, I'm confused! I tried what you said and I didn't try to actually submit it, but I did the preview, and it didn't show up there? Should it work when you look at the preview? Or should I just go ahead and submit it?

Thanks!!

Gretchen
