9/19/09 Western Magic

Hello everyone! My name is Tess and I am cruising with my husband David. I am 25 and he will be 33 at the time of the cruise. This will be our 4th Disney cruise, second on the Magic. I am excited to get to know all of you!

Hello everyone. My name is Tammy (29), sailing with my husband David (31), and mom Elaine (60). This will make David and my 5th cruise, and my moms
2nd. We have sailed Disney once before and tried RCCL, and Carnival since, but had to go back to Disney. I was referred from another board, and can't wait to get to talk to you all. I love your FE exchange and we would too love to participate. I started a gift exchange on the rccl mariner 2 years back, and we all had a great time doing it, we all bought gifts that represented where we came from. We have always stayed in balcony or suites and this time due to finances decided to book a cat 12 gty, wishing for a upgrade, but will be happy just to sail with the mouse again. Can't wait to get to know everyone!:)

Welcome y'all! We are first time cruisers and will be on our honeymoon. We can't wait to meet everyone. Is it September yet????

Hi Tammy, Andrea, Kathy, Tess and all the newcomers!

We just booked our plane tickets from Ohio!!!!!!! The last few times we drove down, but this will be fun too, especially for my husband since he usually does most of the driving. :woohoo:

Tammy, my Mom will be coming with us too. (Will be our 3rd DCL vacation) We are hoping to find her a friend to chat with, maybe she will meet your mom!!

And if there are any other grandmas going, please let me know!!!

I'll be celebrating my big 4-0 while on board. YIKES!!!! :worship:
Our boys will be 8 and 10.

Hello Penny, yeah it would be great to arrange them to meet, she always feels left out when we take her places although we always try to include her, I think she just feels that way since we like different things, my dh and I being active and she can't always do everything we want but thats totally ok, we just don't do them and still have a great time. She would never get to go on vacation period if it wasn't for us, we try to take her everywhere, until I met my husband neither her nor I had seen a beach period, and we have taken her many places since. My dad hates to travel, in fact my entire childhood the only trip I can remember taken out of state (WV) was to your neck of the woods (thats if you live in Ohio) for a baseball game, way back during the Pete Rose era. Big trip huh, about 4 hours away..lol. When he retired 13 years ago he has been rocking in his recliner and watching westerns ever since..lol. We would love to fly down but just can't afford it this year, my DH and I until had all the overtime we wanted but since Oct, no overtime and 2 layoffs, luckily my dh wasn't included, times are tough for everyone and thats why I feel everyone needs a vacation to get away and leave stress behind. And I can't wait! BTW, happy bday just incase I forget in Sep, I myself will be 30 April 10, and I decided to be 29 again, at least to everyone else.lol.

Tammy - I sent you a PM. Our Moms sound like they would hit it off. My Dad is very active and busy, just doesn't like to travel! ALso, my hubby's birthday is the same day as yours!

Congratulations! DCL will be great for your honeymoon (I really wanted to do a DCL wedding, but my mom would not get on the water :sad2: ) Make sure the staff know you are celebrating, they will make it really special for you! Enjoy your honeymoon!

Whew, I just read through the previous posts. I am sad to see PFishgirl and Melissa out, but I am sure we will all have a blast. I think Mickey's Talking P.I.R.A.T.E.S. is really cute and count us in for a meet-up in Promenade lounge! I can't wait for no dishes, laundry, cell phones ect. for an entire week!

Also we want to be added to the FE list...I pmed PFishgirl (ooppss) and Yonkersgirl so hopefully that was the right one to pm. SOrry PFishgirl I just realized you are out of this one...forgive me. I need the list too? Can anyone send it along? :woohoo: Thanks

I have been very naughty and haven't kept up with all the goings on. for a little while we thought we'd have to cancel cuz DH is deployed but we have been assured he WILL be back in time..

Mini recap for the newer participants:

it will be DH John and mine's 2nd cruise overall and 1st with Disney. the 19th is our 11th anniversary and like I said we will also be celebrating his return home from Deployment. he'll be the one in the Navy Dinner Mess Dress outfit on Formal Nights... about the only thing he can't compete with are Kilts and the Marine Dress uniform....:thumbsup2

we are in our early 40s, and no kids together although his son has just reported to Japan and his first duty station. he's also a Squid.

we are in room 76 something or other.. Navigator's veranda...and I might get involved with the FE thingy if I can make it work. Have to do some research to see what all is involved.
only one payment left and that will happen next week when he gets paid. then all I have to do is gnaw on my teeth waiting for the 105 day mark to make ressies at Palo( we got the REAS package).

Speaking of Palo: conundrum. the first night is our anniversary so I wanted that extra special dinner.. but would we be silly to miss out on the first night of main dining? meeting our table mates if any.. Plus I am really wanting to see AP in all its glory and that's only the first day, right? and of course we have no idea what our rotation is..

Mrsjvb,
I would say you can miss the first night, you will be there the next night. Just make sure to tell your maitre'd that you will not be there so the table does not wait for you (I don't mean to presume you wouldn't, it is just that we made this mistake once and our table mates were offended :sad2: )
I am curious as to what the consierge level will be like. We have a suite booked for our cruise in April, and I am curious as to what to expect. Perhaps you can give a bit of a synopsis after you return? :)
I hope your husband comes home safely!

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!! It's a beautiful sunny day in Michigan and most of the snow has melted.

Welcome to all newcomers on the thread. I haven't posted in a while. Cruising with me (Jan) are my DH (Dave), DD (Kim) and DSIL (Pat). Dave and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary on 9/22; Kim and Pat will celebrate their 12th anniversary on 9/20. This will be DCL #12 for us; #3 for Kim and Pat.

Most recently, I cruised on 1-10-09 with Kim's m-i-l. We booked another cruise on board for January 2010.

Dave and I have 6 grandchildren -- all under the age of 7. I just love being a grandma.

Glad to hear the DIS meet is going to be in the Promenade Lounge. I prefer that meeting place over others on the ship. What time? 3 pm?

Have a great weekend everyone.

Jan

For all WB Panama cruisers, do you know Holly (HollyTyler) from your cruise thread? She and I are co-workers.

What do you guys think of going to Cozumel? I don't mean to start a controversy, but it is something my husband and I have been thinking of lately. We already don't get off in Castaway Cay, and I would hate to only do two ports. But, I am not sure as to how comfortable I am in Cozumel. I know there is an all-inclusive resort there, and if we do get off, that is where we would most likely go. It is just getting there and back and wondering around is what concerns me. Does anyone have any thoughts? Is anyone else nervous?

I have no concerns at all. This will be our third time in Cozumel, and it is one of our favorite ports. We love the shopping area right as you get off the ship. We went to Chankanaab last year and plan on going to Paradise Beach this time.

Just curious as to why you don't get off the ship at Castaway Cay?

Thought I'd better jump back in too! I'm going solo on this cruise, celebrating my birthday on the 19th, and plan to visit every port! I'm so excited... I'm one big paycheck away from being paid off and then it's money into savings to spend! Can't wait to be there with my fellow PIRATES!!!! ;)

Just curious as to why you don't get off the ship at Castaway Cay?

My husband has difficulties with mobility, and uses a wheelchair while we are cruising. The wheelchair does not translate well to the beach and the sand/beach wheelchairs they have at Castaway Cay are too difficult for him to get into and use. It is just as well though because we don't really like crowds and the two times we tried Castaway Cay it was really flooded with people. It is just not for us.
