9/19/09 Western Magic

Hello to all! Fresh off the Magic 4/5-12 western cruise with DH and DD6. While on board we booked for 9/19/09 with friend and fellow diser yonkersgirl and her family (DH,DS8 and DD5) and two other friends. Decided to toss our hat into the ring. I mean we have a mere 521 days til we board the Magic again for another memory filled week of fun. Thus no time to waste! Guess it is the Cruise withdrawl talking!!! We did the Fishextender thing for the first time last week and the kids all LOVED it. So if any of you lot want to get in on the FE action speak up. I Know Yonkersgirl and I are both game.
Other than that lets hope the next 521 days fly by so we can get this party started!

Hey Everyone!

Have been completely CRAZY since we got back and it's ahrd to believe it's been just about a month since we got off the beautiful MAGIC! As my friend FINFANS said, we area booked, too and cannot wait!
We would love to do the FE again and have lots of time to plan ahead this time! We did get some really cool stuff and the kids loved checking every day (ok so did mom and dad:rotfl2: )! Can't wait to be chatting with everyone and counting down!

This is our first cruise so please forgive the many silly questions that are bound to come from me, but what is a fish extender & what do you do w/ it? :confused3

Hi!

Outside every stateroom there is a Bronze Fish that notes, etc. can be left on for you from DCL or other guests. The "extender" is either fabric or plastic and it hangs from the fish. Those who sign up for the fun bring surprises to put in all the extenders of those participating at some time during the cruise. It's so much fun to see things appear in them and see what goodies you have gotten. On our cruise in April we had lots of cool stuff from magnets, toys, candy, notepads, stickers, beads, etc. and some people use things from where they are from :) :)

Hope that helps

Thanks. Sounds like fun! Do we sign up on a list? I can't wait for the cruise. I was excited when we booked, then we found this board and now I can hardly wait! I'm glad I found this board. I never would have thought to make magnets for the doors or know how to meet other people going on the cruise before hand. You guys make it more exciting than it already is. :cloud9:

I would love to join in the fun with the fish extender goodies! Sign me up!:cool1:

On our past cruise, we just had someone keep track of a list and then posted updates as we got closer to the cruise so that everyone would know which Cabins and how many, etc. We just did the gifts per cabin and not geared toward each person in the cabin. Sometimes we got stuff that was just for the kids, sometimes for the family, sometimes both :-)

I can keep the list of everyone unless someone else has started one or wants to do it :) Just let me know and I will get it started:thumbsup2

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!

MONICA

Just noticed you are going in 3 months! Lucky girl!

Thanks! We were going to Disney for the week since it's a School Break Week for us (we start school August 4th) but checked into rates for the 4-night and decided to do that and then 3 or 4 days at the parks.:woohoo:

So, we will get to experience the Wonder for the 1st time so that will be cool!

I have started the Roster and will post it this weekend and then those who want to be added can let me know and I will just keep updating it every few weeks and of course before we leave, make sure it's accurate with Cabin Numbers, etc. which I can send via PM if everyone would prefer it that way :)

     (My favorite! LOL)

Last time we did the Western, we didn't really get get off the ship. I walked around Key West, and did a bit of shopping in Costa Maya, but that was it. Except for Castaway Cay of course! :goodvibes

Jasmine really liked Pompeii and Olympia so we'll probably go look at the ruins in Cozumel this time around. And I'll look for something interesting in Grand Cayman since she's never been off the ship there.

I'm glad we're doing the Western 2nd, because by that time she'll have had a chance to get her fill of the club (oh sorry, the LAB).

I also want to do a Dolphin swim sometime during the 2 weeks. And we really liked parasailing at Castaway Cay last month....

Thanks goodness for DU and their double shipboard credit! :worship:

Just wanted to share about what we did on our cruise in April...

We tried a gorgeous park in Cozumel for the first time on our April '08 cruise - Chankanaab Park. It was just a 15 minute cab ride from the port and it was amazing - gorgeous beach, very cool pool, dolphin experiences, Myan Ruin Replicas (my DS loved these) and more!

In Grand Cayman we went to Boatswain's Beach! It was AWESOME - it is mainly a Turtle Farm and you get to pick up and hold the turtles - my kids were at the Turtle Tanks almost the entire time (more than 3 hours!!!). They also have an Aviary, snorkling, beach and pool. We ALMOST got rooked into paying an insane amount for a cab until we followed some who had been to the island before and took the bus for $2.50 each! It was completely safe (we had DS - 8 and DD -5 ) and we got to see some cool sites along the way. GC also has a beautiful public beach.

I will post some photos once I remember how to do that here :rolleyes1

How much were the admissions to the park in Cozumel? And the cab ride?

Will you be going to these on the cruise?

If I remember correctly, the fee was $16 for adults and $8 for kids. If you use the link below there is a place in the upper right hand corner where you can print a coupon for $2 off each adult and $1 off each child. You have to fill out a form but I did that and didn't get any spam or anything else. It was an amazing park and we plan on going back and getting there as early as we can when we get to Cozumel again. The cab was $20 for the 6 of us that went over (one way). The entrance fee we paid was for access to everything but it did NOT include the snorkleing or Dolphin Experiences, which are build seperately. The link has alot of info but feel free to ask anything else you want to know :)

We absolutely loved it - us, our kids and our friends who went that do not have kids. They spent most of the time on the beach in chairs under a straw unbrella with some beverages :) We plan on doing a Dolphin Swim next time we go. The only thing I would say is that you would need Water shoes for the beach area. It was very rough on the feet. They are not needed at Castaway Cay but we felt it they would have been great to have at the park.

I will post some photos as well - working on those now :-)

Is this your first Disney cruise?

This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise. The first one was on the Disney Wonder last November. This will be our first trip on the Disney Magic.

The sand and water were GORGEOUS on Castaway Cay. It was amazing.

Thanks for the information and tips!

No problem!

The Sept. '09 cruise will be our 3rd on the Magic and we have booked our First one on the Wonder this Sept. so we are excited to get to try out the other ship and of course - cannot wait for the 2 New Ships!!

Amazing pictures! And what a pair of cuties you have there! I am definitely going to have to do the park in Cozumel. That looks like so much fun.

Again thanks for the recommendations. We will more than likely be seeing each other there!
