9/19/09 Western Magic

I just finished booking reservations at Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. $50 per person, all you can drink (though we are not big drinkers) and pretty much all you can eat, beach chairs, pool, hot tub. I was there in January and it was nice enough to repeat.

Jan

We always go to Nachi and love it there! I'm considering a dolphin excursion this time though...for my "been there, done that" dh... :sad2:

:cool1:Just booked the 7-day Western on the Magic 9/19/09-9/26/09.

I have been on two other Disney cruises in the past and finally convinced my fiance' that it's the way to go for our honeymoon. We are getting married the evening of the 18th and hopping on a plane at 6:00 am, the 19th. She's never been on DCL and is not even a big fan of Disney (yet). In fact she's never even been to Walt Disney World. Things will change, of course, once she gets a taste for the Disney Magic, however. I'm sure of it.

I'd love to meet some of you on the ship (so you can help her with being WOWED by the Disney experience, ;-).

Ralph (and Madeleine)

:welcome: Aboard Ralph & Madeleine!!

So good to have you guys sailing with us. Your sparkling new wife will sure have the perfect honeymoon, She is gonna love it!

As you can see, we have a great group here :grouphug: I'm sure we are all looking forward to meeting you folks in September. :yay:

Take care,

Dennis

Welcome aboard, and congrats on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon, I'm sure Madeleine will love it!

Welcome and congrats, RalphieN and Madeleine!!! :cheer2:

We'll "convert" Madeleine before the cruise is through! My DD thinks that DCL drugs the water so that you become repeaters. She got hooked last September while we were in the port and before boarding when 11 in our family cruised the Wonder.

Make plans to go to Palo for a romantic honeymoon dinner and brunch.

Jan

A GREAT BIG Welcome and congrats, RalphieN and Madeleine!!! I have a feeling Madeleine will come around...resistance is FUTILE!:lmao:

Welome and congrats, we are a honeymoon couple too!!!

Just made the final payment on the cruise. Of course I used the Disney Visa hoping to get reward dollars built up before we go. It is a nice way to pay for drinks and souvenirs although I think it will go very fast with the drinks this time. Now we have to choose an insurance plan then wait for July 6th to book Palo and any excusrions. We probably will not do many, if any excursions, since this is our first cruise and I would like to have some money left when they offer booking next cruise. I don't know if I can resist the excursions, though, since you all make it sound so tempting. We already did a wonderful dolphin swim off Cancun at Isla Mujeres or I would have to choose that one. I enjoy this planning and will be lost after the cruise so I understand why people are here a year ahead of their next trip.

Hi Vicki. We're not doing anything special in Key West either - just going to enjoy the place. We're doing the Island Tour in Grand Caymen - just the short one, 11.15 I think so we aren't rushed, but haven't decided what to do in Cozumel yet.

Thanks, I will have a look later when I can face the slowness of the Disney site!:headache:

I'm not sure the dock in Cozumel is a place just to wander around, so we would have to do an excursion I think.

Hi Jan and Marilyn,
My DH wanted to do the Mexican cooking class in Cozumel, so I told him I would do it with him. It actually sounds really nice. You have class for 1-2 hours, and have open bar during this time. Brucechase(?) 's wife did this on another cruise, and sent me some pictures-very modern kitchen. I don't know him but he answered my question about it on the main boards. They fixed some kind of fish, veggies(I think) and rice pudding. I don't know if the menu changes or not. After the meal is done, you eat what you have prepared, and have wine with it. The setting is at a beautiful beach with nice facilities, and after the class is over you have about 2 hours at the beach. So, looking forward to that.
Marilyn, the tour in Grand Cayman's sounds like the same one we are on, but I think we are on an earlier one. It gets awfully hot as the day gets later (especially in Hell !!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:) But we have done it before, and enjoyed it. Vicki

John would think that would be a punishment I think!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We are quite difficult I think. We aren't beach people(apart from Castaway Cay, but we still can't face all day there. We don't like water sports, and though we love looking at them, we wouldn't like swimming with dolphins etc. John hates long organised coach sight seeing tours, though we have booked a short one on Grand Cayman, and the previous week on Tortola. I think I like to get a flavour of the place but don't want to be gone for a long time. We don't want to spend too much, and John finds it difficult to buy food when we already have bought all the food onboard!!:lmao:

I'm not brave enough to go off and do things on our own - I would be worrying all the time something would happen and we would miss the ship.:scared1:

It's looking like a stroll around the port area at the moment, or perhaps the shortest trip to some ruins, but even that has a 90 minute guided tour.:headache:

Can't believe our thread dropped to the 2nd page!!!!!

Did we ever get final agreement on where/what time the meets will take place?

Before we get too side tracked with today's activities and the party tomorrow, I wanted to say
Happy Birthday!
:bday::bday::bday:

To my dear (not so) little boy! He changes designation as of today to: DS4 :)

And to think, in 6 short weeks he'll be an official preschooler! (But DW is thinking those 6 weeks can't fly by fast enough because she'll be rid of him 3 days a week :woohoo: )

I know how your wife feels... and I don't even have kids of my own! I babysit an almost 3 year old who will be starting preschool in Sept. (I've had her since she was 2 months old, so she's practically mine!) and I can't wait! Happy birthday kiddo! Good luck with the party! ;)

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY:rotfl:

Been abscent of late, trying not to panic, trying to hold onto that magical feeling, soooo. . .

I'm back and. . .

Passports are ordered (DH and I have ours as well as do our two older boys who are not cruising) These were for our 4 younger ones. $$$

Trip Insurance purchased (suprisingly did not bring much peace to my mind)$$$

Final Payment made. (again, not the woohoo banana feeling I was hoping for just a feeling of no turning back!) $$$$

Not to be a downer but all those worries my DH was having? Now they seem to be on my shoulders. ach!

The parents are older and getting more so everyday. What will 85 days bring?

The swine flu is quieting down but will return with a vengence in the fall, what will that bring?

The DH new job assignment still has no official report to duty time. . .what will that mean eventually to the old employer who knows he is planning to go?

The family budget is hangin' in there through some very stringent planning but the $800 unexpected car repair last week was not entirely welcome!

No one has been convinced to wear a tux or high heels for formal night and I will not die on this hill so it is all good right?

What a crazy "in flux" feeling I am having today. . .

BUT I missed my dismeet buddies and had to come back and say hello.

AND the kiddos are so excited (DS6 & DD4) they do the happy dance for me everyday

My FE gifts are nearly thought thru and purchased if not assembled yet

The clothes are mostly purchased and I've quit obsessing over it

The hotel is booked (CIS, free breakfast, shuttle and parking)

The lady who is making my FE and a few embroidered T's for my kiddos is moving along and as excited about anything Disney as me. So that's fun!

My kids and I watched the Magic and then the Wonder leave the Port and sail away 2x now on live video feed cams and it was awesome.

Thanks for listening, my excitement is sure to return when I get to book Palo on July 6th or hear my room assignment. . .

Hope those who have been under the weather, or knife or what have you are all mending and up and around.:flower3:

Happy Birthday Sweet little Nathan, don't give your Mama to much heck today! :wizard:

and to all those Honeymooners who are crusing with us, share the love you all hear? My DH and I are working on 24 years and it's been quite the ride! Let's rock the ship! (we did get two cabins for some reason. . .:rolleyes1)

Have to go back and see everything I missed now. . . at least 4 or 5 pages I think! :surfweb:

Hi everyone,

Welcome to all of the new people! I have really missed being on these boards. We are palnning on being there first thing on the 19th, so meeting then would be fine. I am also fine with the 3:00 meeting. My DH picked up the supplies for our FE gifts, so now I have something to do while lying in bed.

I am glad people got what they wanted for ressies. I hope you left some spots for those of us that can't book until the 6th.:rotfl:

Thanks for all of the well wishes! My surgery went ok. I was kept in longer because of complications. I am home now but still pretty sore and I have a VERY BIG ugly scar. Oh well, thankfully I have a wonderful DH who thinks I am beautiful no matter what! I no sooner got home when I received some more bad news.:scared1: Another surgeon that I went to see before my operation did a CT scan and unfortunately, it looks like I might have to go in for another surgery ( and yes another ugly scar :sad2: ). I am hoping that I can get it done while I am off work and have time to recover before September. I was suppose to be off of work until the end of August, now I am not sure when I will be going back.

Marilyn,
It does seem like you have a hard time finding something. I saw that you did the Segway tour in WDW. You may be sick of them by now (we did one in Waikiki, and loved it), but I saw on the Travel Channel where Samantha Brown did a Segway tour in Cozumel. Just a thought, probably be right in town and not take long. :confused3
It's looking like a stroll around the port area at the moment, or perhaps the shortest trip to some ruins, but even that has a 90 minute guided tour.:headache:

Mamajojo hope everything you feel better soon, and everything works out good for you.:grouphug:

Congratulations to all the newlyweds, how great to be able to go on a cruise for your honeymoon, very romantic.::bride::groom::

I am real excited today, I get to start packing for the cruise!

We are in the process of buying a new house and should close on July 15th, so we will be moving before our vacation. We do not have to much to pack up, because we moved last year from the house we sold, to a rent house. And we knew we not to unpack, it was temporary until we found one we liked.

So yesterday, I told my husband that I would like to start packing for WDW and the Cruise today. And he said that is a good idea. So that way we are most of the way packed. And we can stay packed until we leave. And it will be easy to move all the stuff, for WDW and the Cruise.

The other benefit is my DS and DD are gone to Grandma's, so they want be in the way and see all the surprises we have for them.:yay:

They know we are going to WDW this year, but do not know what day we are leaving, we want to surprise them that day. They know nothing about the cruise, we plan on telling them at WDW, probably the day before we leave. I still have to come up with a clever way to do that.

So if I get us mostly packed today then that will stop some of the questioning.

I'm so sorry that you had some complications and may be looking at another surgery  Sending hugs, prayers and pixie dust :tinker:

Glad you got over your complications. :grouphug:

Hospitals can suck, how well I know. But for the scar(s), try Mederma. Works very well. Pretty thick so a little goes a long way. Here in the 'git shot' part of the country many of the CVS and Walgreen's stores have this stuff locked in a security case! :sad2:
