9/19/09 Western Magic

I will have to post for my kids since this is going to be a surprise. I am torn with that now though. I want to surprise them and have kept it a secret since the beginning of May,2008 but I do want them to meet some friends as well and not miss out on that

ooohhh, Disney sewing machine that embroiders! Lucky you! Does she take piece work?!:thumbsup2 I see a thriving buisness in her future, :rotfl: at least mine! I have so little talent in that area! Would love to find someone to help me figure this thing out! I am so afraid I am going to show up with a FE my kids will be mortified for me to hang up:laughing:

Man, the MNSSHP is soooo tempting but I can just see my husbands response: "I thought the whole idea was to get to port a day early so we could be well rested to start the cruise? How will we do that being in MK (b/c he would never leave early) until midnight and then driving over an hour to our room in Port Canaveral?" Don't think I'm gonna win that one. Shucks!

About our Port Canaveral room, any one staying at Country Inn and Suites pre cruise? We will see you there! We are thinking about post cruise going by DTD and maybe a resort for a late breakfast or maybe just Earl of Sandwhich (love me some Earl Sandwhich!) before we hit the road for the long drive home.

Cakesnjammom, I am sooo sorry I am nearly computer and especially forum board illiterate so I have no idea how to copy, put links in, etc BUT I will give you what I know! Maybe someone will help us out, after all it is the Disboard!

My daughter started a thread on 3/9/2009 titled "Looking for a friend for 9/19/2009 cruise" I think that's pretty close. It is under thread meets (this section) but not by date yet or anything so it is probably pretty far down the page? She used my Dis name, Kileybeth, so you could just search my post I think?

So, are you all ready for this?

199 Days!!

Now that doesn't sound to bad!

I can ask her. I picked up quilting pieces at the fabric store for the pockets & will be taking it down this June to see what characters we can put on it. I'll ask her today and post tonight or tomorrow. You could send her the material & request the characters you want. She's not good w/a computer & I'm not much better so I'm thinking we'll have to use the characters that came w/ the machine. We might not be able to do any pirate or cruise themed characters.

I just asked her. She said she's very unsure of her work & afraid she'd mess up the material. If you don't mind sending extra material she would be willing to give it a try. She put Cinderella on the back of a hoodie type jacket in '06 that is beautiful. I now know where I got being to paranoid about doing things for other people. I'm always afraid someone won't like it. I guess the apple truly doesn't fall far from the tree. Is it September yet?:lmao:

KileyBeth we are also staing at CIS the night before the cruise. :wave2: We booked through Priceline. It sounds like a great place!
Disneyfinatics I can see your Mom getting boxes full of stuff with embroidery requests :rotfl: Cinderella is my favorite character.
I can't wait to get the FE shopping list. I have already picked up some really cute stuff for the kids. I can't wait to do some more shopping when I know ages, boy, girl etc.

Sinderelly, Yeah! Someone else at the CIS! The reviews on trip advisor look awesome and with my crew we are always up for free breakfast! I booked a tripleA rate and thought that was pretty good, never used Priceline but the deals always sound fantastic by using them.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding, how is the planning coming along? Our Anniversary is Oct 5th (the Pastor was booked solid for September!) , perfect time of year!

LoriS, thanks for putting the kids link up there! Any pics or descriptions of your pirate costumes? Love to see what others are doing. Haven't decided how elaborate/simple we will go.

Disneyfanatics, oh my! what a sweet offer. I will gladly pay her and I could send extra fabric. I tried to PM you but your profile doesn't allow it. I'd love to hear more. Please send me an email with your/your Moms email or address and we can see if this might work out! My email is in my profile I'm pretty sure or just send me a PM and I will get it to you.

and to everyone going on this cruise, and so everyone knows exactly what kind of math challenged nut you are dealing with (in me!) here is a corrected countdown for our cruise:upsidedow

189 Days!!!

Boy those last 10 days went fast hhmm? :rolleyes1

Hope the other 189 days go as fast!!!

Waving back at Kileybeth. How are you getting to CIS from MCO? We are renting a car. The Disney bus sounds like fun but getting to the port early and being able to stop at Walmart on the drive over sounds even better.:goodvibes I agree with you on the free breakfast. Nothing tastes better than free food.

The wedding is actually June. Our honeymoon is a little delayed due to circumstances (work schedules etc)

Relieved that I don't have to wait ten extra days for our cruise! :rotfl:

Sadly, we are driving. . . from Delaware:scared1:

We have driven many times over the years and it is not really horrible just very tiring. When things go well, we are there in under 14-15 hours; when they go poorly, it is a very long 24 hours. We rarely stop over night. Just as much work to unload it for night and get it all back in the car. . .

We have also flown several times as well. I adore ME to get you to the resorts and not having to rent a car. With a large family I get to bring way more luggage flying then I do when we drive! DCL bus from MCO would be so nice but it gets spendy with 6 people!

We will drive our own vehicle. And with 2 adults and 4 kids that means very little room for luggage (DH will not put anything on top of the car ever for any reason:sad2: ) so with 2 sets of teenagers legs, and two little ones carseats, it is an interesting arrangment! At least we have moved on from the days of double strollers:woohoo: and for this trip are only bring one small Mac volo umbrella (usually take two) so.

Are you leaving your car at CIS for the week? We are planning to do that. DH will drop us at port early and then run car back to CIS and take shuttle over.

Will also make a Walmart run. What kinds of things are you bringing on board? I am thinking water bottles for sure. And cheapo toys to leave behind on trip home. And anything else I forget to pack and remember along the way! It will be easier for us not to have all the extras in the car for travel. We do stop for meals and lots of potty breaks so no need for big food mess in the car.

Wow! June is soon! Hope you will post some pics for us all to see!

It's a 16 hour drive to Orlando from here ( Indiana). We drove to the panhandle last Thanksgiving with my daughter. It was an 11 hour drive and only three of us in the car. She slept the entire drive with the exception of bathroom breaks. She woke up and said " Mom I thought you said it would take a long time to get here". The drive seemed really long but there was no cruise at the end of the road.

The plan is DH will drop me and our luggage at the port, take the rental car back, then ride the shuttle to the port.

We are stopping at Walmart for bottled water, maybe some bottled juice
( Hawaiian Punch), toiletries, sunscreen etc. I love the Australian Gold products that you can purchase in FL but not here.It sure beats having to make room in the luggage for all that stuff and with the luggage restrictions now it just doesn't make sense to buy that stuff here at Walmart, then lug it to FL and makes the bags heavier.

Is this your family's first DCL cruise. It's our first cruise ever! From looking at some of the navigators some of the family activities sound like more fun than the adult only ones. Maybe I'm just a kid at heart.

We are driving too. It is about a 24 hour drive. I don't drive so my poor DH has to do it all. We did it last year as well. I was surprised at how well the kids did. When we stopped we got gas, food and bathroom all at the same time and then ate in the car.

I'm kind of glad Nevada's too far away to drive! I don't think I could be stuck in a car for that long! Props to your kids! Anyone at the MCO Hyatt with me the night before? I'm 56.53% paid off... over half-way and waiting for my big "end of the semester" check from the school to be paid off in full! Can't wait to see everyone! ;)

I am with you on the driving nvcruiser! I am really glad Arizona is too far. :thumbsup2 My husband would be the first one to veto that option by saying it is bad enough that we have to take my mother (75 yrs.old) with us on vacation, but, to have her in the car for more than a 2 hour trip is too much to handle.:rotfl: I just pray they don't throw eachother overboard! They were okay with last year's cruise, so we will see about this one, now that we have adjoining cabins. Another thing I was just thinking was if we were within driving distance, I would be taking a cruise more often, and I don't think DH would care for that one either!:rotfl2[/SIZE]

This is what we wore on DCL in 2007

We are also booked at the CIS Thursday and Friday night, so it will be a party! Has anyone heard about the Pirate Party? I was reading a thread on cruiscritic of someone who just took the three day at the end of Feb and said the dinner was no more. Does anyone know about the seven day? I would be disappointed to see it gone. :sad2:

Kileybeth,
I think I fixed the problem w/ the pm thing. We will be driving down from Maryland. We always pack an overnight bag. It's still a pain. I wish we could afford to fly down. I know we wouldn't want to w/ the way they charge for luggage.
Shelly

We booked the cruise in February but I just found out about this board this weekend. It will be my sister, nephew (10) and myself. It will be mine and my nephews first cruise and my sister is celebrating her birthday 2 days before we leave. I do not know how those of you who booked your cruise last year has been able to stand the excitement. It seems like it is forever before September gets hear. We would also like to be added to the FE list. We are in cabin 5514

Wow! Lots of activity this wekend, I've been to busy to hop on and check.

:welcome: LCrain, I know what you are saying, I just booked, cancelled, and rebooked this cruise since February myself. The only thing I have ever planned so far in advance was a Family reunion and that was only b/c I was trying to coordinate 57 people and rent a whole floor of a hotel!

LoriS, awesome pics of your pirate costumes, You guys went all out! Your girls are preciuois!

Well, I will be the first to admit, that driving after flying is sooo hard to get physched up about. But if it means I can go? I'll drive. I think the cheapest we ever flew for was right around $700 for all 6 of us, but it would cost way more now. Nay, I'll keep my money for souvies! We can fly out of either BWI or PHL so both nice short 2 hour or so flights. . .

mamajojo, My DH does all the driving as well, he doesn't trust me when he falls asleep, he says I have a lead foot :rolleyes1

Disneycruiser83 yeah! more cruise buddies at the CIS! Whatcha doin' a day early? I thought about coming in a day early to do Kennedy Space Center but not sure.

disneyfinatics, I hear you on the flying $$$, do you stop overnight then? We love Charleston, SC. I know it is not directly on the way, but I love to go there. My DH has work related things there every now and again so it's a favorite spot. But no flying, no stopping this time unless someone comes up with a lot more extra spare change in my jars! :rotfl: When we fly, I actually get to take more luggage then when we drive:scared1: Even an extended length minivan can only hold so much after you put 6 people in it! I will try to PM you soon! Where are you in Maryland? We could be neighbors practically. My closest Wal*art is in Elkton, MD, DH just did three days in Baltimore this week for work, and every now and then we need a Cracker Barrel fix (not sure why, it's never as good as when you really had to go south and be traveling along I-95 to get it!

187 days!!
not that I'm counting or anything. . .

anyone hear about being added to the FE list lately? I'm not showing up yet.
