This was our 4th cruise. We had been on a 3, 4 and 7 (Western) Disney Cruise before. Our last one was the 7 day before this one. We decided to go on the 3 day cruise this time so we could spend time at WDW before our cruise.

I must say that even though it was our 4th cruise and we knew our way around, knew what we wanted to do, knew what to expect, the three day was not enough. It was fun, but nothing like our 7 day cruise last year (next year we are back on a 7 day).

Our room was wonderful. In the past we have always been in the Cat. 11 inside room. They are very nice rooms; but this time we had the opportunity to stay in a secret porthole room. We really liked the window very much. I just don't see us using a verandah much, but it is nice to have natural light.

Our first night was rough seas (results from the hurricane Isabel that was north of us). I did have some Dramamine, but not enough for all of us, so everyone who took it was OK (I didn't take any, so I ended up skipping dinner). On all 4 cruises that I have been on, this was the most movement we had ever experienced. After the first night, all was well though.

Nassau day is a day that we stayed onboard. We thought the pools would not be very crowded because of people leaving the ship, but apparently others had the same idea because the pool was still crowded. We had fun just staying on board. There was plenty for everyone to do that day.

Castaway Cay was beautiful as usual. We have been SO lucky. On 4 cruises we have had 4 beautiful days at CC. This was the first time my girls did the Kids Programs at CC (before we always hung out as a family). They only went to 1 hour of programming, but it was one of the highlights of their trip. They are still talking about the whale dig!

The new show the Golden Mickeys was wonderful. I was thrilled to see they have Stitch onboard now. One of my DD was so excited to get her picture taken with Stitch! Dreams is still my favorite (I almost cry when Tinkerbell lights up the ship and the the lights in the theater come on too).

All in all, we had a wonderful time. This was the 4th time our daughters celebrated a birthday on the ship. We seemed to have started a tradition here, and have their birthday next year already booked (for a 7 day). They turned 10 on the ship and I always buy a photo album for our pictures after each trip. When I looked back at our first cruise and look at them now, OH! How they have grown up! They were 6 when we boarded the first time (turned 7 on the cruise), and have celebrated birthdays number 7, 8, 9 and 10 on board. They are twins and our only children, so it works for us.

Anyway, it was a great trip. Can't wait to go again!

I'm happy to hear that the motion on the first night was more than average. Being a first time cruiser, it really threw me for a loop...I also skipped dinner. I think they closed the Mickey pool for a while on Nassau day, that contributed to the crowding of the Goofy pool. I agree, three nights is not enough. Would you mind telling me about the whale dig at cc. Maybe my dd would do that next time. Thanks!

The Whale Dig is at Monstro Point (sp?) next to Scuttles Cove. My girls were in the 8-9 year old group this time, they don't do it for the 10-12 year olds (which is the group they will be in next time, so that was another reason we wanted to have them do it this time).

It is similar to those digs at children's museums if you have been to any of those. They do 'hide' things in the sand and the kids find them. One of my DD found a huge whale's tooth, so she was VERY excited about that.

If you didn't want to do it with the kids club, they do offer a 'family dig' in the afternoon while at CC. We haven't done that, but thought about it. There is just SO much to do.

The last time we cruise we just loved the bike ride. We would have done it again, but we try to do things we hadn't done before, so we decided not to rent bikes. But I do HIGHLY recommend the bike ride. They actually have water stations along the way with ice cold water. The bike pave is beautiful and very easy. At the end is a lovely view of the adult beach area.

Oh, and no, that first night is NOTHING like it usually is, but I will make sure I bring extra dramamine in the future just in case. We always cruise in September, and that is considered hurricane season, so it is good to be prepared.

Glad you liked the cruise. It is a wonderful trip for families. We just love it! Now we are just trying to decide what we want to do in 2005 (we have 2004 already booked :p ).

westjones...

Can you tell me what the dining rotation was for your cruise? I know it changes some times. We are travelling with a 4 & 6 year old and have the 6 PM seating. I would like to have some idea of when to book Palo...suggestions from the board say to skip Tritons. There are also some good oceaneer club activities that I want the kids to participate in. I also do not want to miss the shows. Also, do you know if you are scheduled for the early dinner can you still go to the 6:30 show or must you attend the 8:30.

Our rotation (and we had late seating) was Parrot Cay, Tritons and then Animator's Palate.

You can go and make changes on the first day if you want changes in your dining schedule. Don't miss Animators, its the best!

Which SPH did you have? We booked 5020, 5022 & 5024 for our family, my FIL/MIL & BIL/SIL and niece for the 11/6 3-day. I think we're the "most obstructed" of the three SPH rooms, but I'm sure it will be better than no window at all!

We had 5520 and it was very nice. Next year we have 5020 booked and I am hoping the view is just as good (but we will see).

We always had a Cat. 11 room before, so any view is better than no view at all! I'm afraid we are hooked now and will probably want a porthole for now on.

Have a great trip!
