I L-O-V-E that Chip remembered "Stitch"!! SO SWEET!!! (But of course he would remember - There's only ONE Chip in ALL OF WDW, right?) :goodvibes
I'm still trying to work out how that happened...I know the same "Chip" wouldn't be appearing at both EPCOT's Garden Grill and in the MGM parade...but I cannot think of any other answer...so...I will just chose to believe in the magic! :wizard:

Sweetums........is the cute muppet monsters name! Hes such fun too! :Pinkbounc
THANK YOU!!! As soon as I read your answer I could hear Kermit talking to him calling him that during Muppets 3-D but for some reason...I totally blanked on it before reading that! THANK YOU!! :cool1:

Ah, Jay, what can I say? I love your writing style. What a great, great day. You were really having a fab trip weren't you? No wonder you are "homesick" for it! I just feel like I'm right there with you the whole time.................... :thumbsup2
Thanks...I love writing trip reports...good or not!

And yes...I am still oh so "homesick" for WDW! I wish I were back there right now. Ahh...the post Disney blues... :sad2: They are no kind of fun at all!

I am enjoying your TR soooo much! Your pictures of the MGM Parade are really great. :thumbsup2 The Chip & "Stitch" event is just magical! :wizard: What a thrill for your son! Can't wait for the next chapter. popcorn::
Thanks for reading along. I know I did get a bit carried away with the MGM parade pictures...but well....I am really missing WDW right about now!! :)

More MGM coming up in a bit...stay tuned!!

You have got the sweetest family! I got teary eyed reading about the firework moment! Too Sweet! Isn't life grand? You boys are too cute! You did very well on the disney wardrobe for the week! Excellent planning! I can't wait to go the most magical place on earth with my family! We will have to look into Contemporary! I would love to be right in the center of everything. Enjoyed your report!

I have never seen the MGM parade. I LOVED the parade pics especially the Mary Poppins! Cant wait to see more pictures. :sunny:

Great job!

I just found your TR this morning and read the whole way through today. Of course, no laundry, dishes, or other cleaning got done but I was so enthralled. Your boys are all such sweeties! What a dream vacation! We haven't been able to afford anything past the moderate level yet, but Contemporary is quickly climbing up the scale on my list of Deluxes to try!

I think I enjoy reading you TR SO much because your feelings so parallel the same ones I have felt on our two trips to WDW with our girls! Truly makes you feel blessed when you have those magical moments when it feels like time stands still for a few moments and your mind takes a picture for it's "scrapbook". Great job!

Can't wait to read the rest - you're now on my "must-read" list. I LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing this many pictures and you can go into as much detail as you wish - I love it!

I definitely think Sci-Fi will have to be on our list of new things to try next trip (whenever that may be). DFIL has promised to take us all on a DCL vacation in a couple of years when DD3 is a bit older and can enjoy it more. So now I'm getting more and more interested in the DCL trip reports!!

You've made another fan! :cheer2:

Keep up the good work!

NEVER (and I really do mean NEVER) stay at the Day's Inn right off of I-75 in Valdosta, GA. Our room was smelly (non smoking...yeah right). We switched our first room and ended up in an even smellier second room. But we were tired, the boys were crabby and we had already prepaid via the internet. :badpc:

I've decided never to stay in another Days Inn period - We stayed in the Days Inn in Gainesville, FL on the way to DW at the end of Sept, and it was also horrible - hands down, the worst hotel I've ever set foot in. It was smelly, the beds were horrible, it had bugs (we only took in one suitcase, but found a roach in our van the next day!), parking lot lights were out, nasty shower, etc. It was late, and we'd also prepaid so we felt stuck. This hotel looked like something you'd see on TV on a show involving "professional" women.

Days Inn has forever lost my business.

Check...MGM parade enjoyed! We had been trying to see that one for the past few trips...we had been missing a great thing! That parade is a LOT of fun! But all of that fun behind us, it was time to hit a few attractions...

First up? The Backlot Tour. Now, while I myself would not enjoy it, I do take great pleasure in watching the other volunteers get SOAKED :lmao: during the first part of the tour! When they pull the clips together at the end, it always make me roll with laughter!

Next up on the tour was a peek into some of the props, costumes and set pieces.
For those who love Capt. Jack...a set of his pirate best.
sept06disneydisc5147.jpg

For those that love Will Turner...the cage he was suspended in.
sept06disneydisc5149.jpg

A version of the famous water tower.
sept06disneydisc5143.jpg

I thought one of the most interesting tidbits gleaned on the tour was the one about his plane. Walt used this plane to travel to FL to buy the land where WDW now sits. He purchased the land via blind transactions through dummy businesses so that nobody would know it was him that was interested. That way he was able to buy up the land without the prices skyrocketing (like they did as soon as the cat was out of the bag that Walt was interested in buying the land and developing there).
sept06disneydisc5153.jpg

Some assorted props...my boys loved the animal ones...thus, that's what we had pictures of.

After our tour it was time to make our way over and enjoy the Magic of Disney Animation. This is always a family favorite. "Aladdin" loves Mushu and all of us enjoy trying our hand at drawing Disney characters. The first character we worked on was Stitch. All of us did a passable job...however I must say, mine was the best :lmao: (if you turned it sideways, squinted and wore rose colored glasses;)).

After drawing our little hearts out (we also drew Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck) we were very hungry and lucky for us ;) it was time to head over to Hollywood and Vine for our very delicious buffet dinner.

While we were waiting for our turn to be seated, "Stitch" made friends with his new favorite dinosaur, Rex. We had picked Rex up earlier in the afternoon. Watching "Stitch" make a bit of Disney magic of his own brought huge smiles to our faces. I think he had all of us in stitches for the entire 15 minute wait! He was just so funny/cute/in his own world that to do anything but laugh was all but impossible! :teeth:
sept06disneydisc5117.jpg

sept06disneydisc5114.jpg

sept06disneydisc5113.jpg

He would make Rex walk along the railing and then all of a sudden Rex would "Rooooooooaaarrrr" at those walking past. Okay...maybe I "should" have stopped him...but it was so funny! The looks we got from people were so funny! And I promise, he didn't really scare anyone...just made them laugh pretty hard too! So...if you walked past Hollywood and Vine and were roared by dinosaur Rex...then it was great to meet you! ;)

OOPS...I have to cut this short...I am dealing with a sick doggy (he ate garbage). I will be back to finish the rest of our day 7 tomorrow.

Thanks for reading along with us!! :goodvibes

AHHHH! we need an update!!!!
This is the greatest trip report ever! thanks so much for sharing

Next a bit of magic that I can in no way explain happened. If you read earlier in the trip report, you will remember that "Stitch" and Chip had a very special bond when we dined at The Garden Grill at EPCOT. Somehow (and this is the "real" magic part of the thing) Chip seemed to reconize "Stitch" as his 'special friend' and he stopped dancing and threw his arms open and skipped over to "Stitch" and gave him a huge hug AND THEN...(WOW) he grabbed his lanyard and looked at the pins! I don't know how or why this was done. I just know it was beyond priceless for a little 5 year old chipmunk lover and his awed family! It couldn't possibly be the same Chip...how did he know? Of course, "Stitch" had no trouble with that question (nor did his brothers) but for dh and myself we just had to sit there and wonder! Maybe here at WDW dreams and wishes are really real!! Because that little bit of extra magic is still talked about to this day by "Stitch". He talks about how he met Chip at dinner and got a pin from him and then he saw him a few days later and Chip remembered him and ran over to give him a hug and then checked to see his pin!! This picture is of Chip right as he stopped dancing and started to skip over to where "Stitch" was standing. I so wish I had a picture of them hugging!! But I was so in awe I forgot to hit the button on the camera (and I watched the exchange through the camera screen....I just was flat out in amazement that another Chip acted as if he knew him and grabbed for his lanyard!!).
.
We had Cinderella remember us on our first family trip. My DD was 3 at the time, and very into Cinderella. To this day she still remembers that day!

I have been reading your TR a little bit here and there, I must tell you I am addicted! I cannot wait to finish reading.
I am sorry to hear about your pictures. I am always afraid I will do something like that, so I save them to my laptop and then make 2 copies on disk

After dinner we made our way over and did the Narnia tour. WOW...I was amazed at how much I felt as if I had just stepped into a movie and even more so as if I had just stepped into a book! "Aladdin" had read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series over the last few months...so for him too, it was as if he were walking into his own imagination. He kept saying over and over "This is just how I thought it would be".

The White Witch was eerie, beautiful and a tad bit scary to a little one in the party next to us...the poor thing looked like she was going to lose it at any moment...then again she was only 3. She was whimpering and hiding her face in her dad's leg and hyperventilating all at the same time. :confused3 Not sure why her parents didn't take her out. I wonder this not because she annoyed me...but because it was clear that she would have rather have been picking up toys and eating brussel sprouts then to have been in this attraction! :( I mention this poor little one as a warning to anyone with bitty little ones that have really good imaginations...this attraction might scare them more then a little bit...then again, my three loved it! Go figure.

sept06disneydisc5130.jpg

Now for my very favorite Narnia picture (okay it's only cause it has my sweet guys in it;)).
sept06disneydisc5125.jpg

The pictures I took really don't do it justice. It was just an amazing world of ice and snow and magic! It was just so very real feeling! WOW!!

After Narnia we started down the street and my boys became junior photographers. Here are a few of the gems they took. I don't know why, but just handing over the camera and watching them "get the great picture" (as "Goofy" kept saying over and over again) was a whole lot of fun.

sept06disneydisc5126.jpg

"Stitch" took this one cause he said it was a hidden Mickey...maybe not in the true sense of the phrase...but close enough when you are 5!!
sept06disneydisc5124.jpg

"Goofy" snapped this one. He said he was seeing the hat his way!

This next photo is ala "Aladdin". He said the flower looked like a bird!
sept06disneydisc5135.jpg

And a bit more of "Aladdin's" work:
sept06disneydisc5139.jpg

sept06disneydisc5105.jpg

After our photo safari, it was on to ride The Great Movie Ride one last time (it was here we used our "priority entrance" pass for being the "Happiest Family"...thanks again kind CM). There really wasn't a line but the boys wanted to use the pass...;)so we did.

Then it was on to Fantasmic! This is a GREAT, NOT TO BE MISSED kind of show!

Here are "Stitch" and his daddy waiting for Fantasmic to start.
sept06disneydisc5159.jpg

We had toted about 40 Disney trivia cards (snagged out of our Disney trivia game at home) with us for just this purpose...as we waited, we had a competition. It was a lot of fun. The people around us even got into offering up answers! Having something to do sure did make the time go a lot faster!

Here is my favorite picture from Fantasmic:
sept06disneydisc5183.jpg

When the show started we were transported to an imaginary world. I always feel like I am part of the show rather than just an audience member. The effects are out of this world great and of course, having Mickey as the hero is always a bonus!! I heard the steamboat was being "in rehab"...and I surely did miss it! I hope they do bring it back!

As we walked back to our van, I got a tad bit sad, it was time to go back to the resort and pack up. The first leg of our vacation was coming to an end...we did have another almost two weeks left...but I was having so much fun this first week that I didn't want it to end!

So...as we pulled into the parking lot at the Contemporary and started to make our way over to the Food and Fun Center and we started to spot people dressed up in Halloween costumes my heart soared...it was one of the night's for MNSSHP!! This meant we could watch the fireworks tonight even though we were getting back after they would have normally gone off! Just one more way to extend our vacation just a tad bit longer...

So mugs filled, we made our way up to the public observation deck. It was not packed...but it was not empty either. **THANK YOU DIS BOARD FOR THE NEXT TIP** We turned and saw the fire escape stairway. Up, up, up we went and we just kept climbing until we found an empty landing. Our own private viewing spot picked out, we sat and enjoyed our cool drinks and talked about all of the fun we had already had and all of the fun that was yet to come! Then all of a sudden, we heard them start...

WOW...what a fireworks show!! Here are some of the photos I snapped while we were watching the MNSSHP fireworks off of the fire escape.
sept06disneydisc5237.jpg

sept06disneydisc5236.jpg

Standing on that fire escape and watching the fireworks show was another "snapshot in time" moment for me. Dh was standing behind me holding me, and the boys were in front of us with their little arms around each other. It was such a sweet moment! And it felt like Disney was shooting off the fireworks just for us as (unless we looked directly down on to the observation deck below) we couldn't see another soul in all of WDW. We could only see the fireworks and the lights and the castle with ghosts flying around it and changing colors in a spectacular light show!

The fireworks ended all too soon...but that was okay, upon our return from our Disney cruise we were going to be attending MNSSHP. So...we would get the chance to see them again...however, we knew it was not likely that any other vantage point could be as magical or as wonderful as the one we had just watched them from!

When the fireworks ended we made our way back to our room and packed up our things. Tomorrow we would be leaving first thing in the morning for Port Canaveral and we didn't want to be tired upon boarding the Disney Magic! Although I was very VERY excited to get there and start that amazing part of our trip, I was also very VERY sad to be leaving such a beautiful resort and to be ending a chapter of our Disney adventure...somehow those two extremes balanced each other out and I was able to get some sleep that night.

Good thing...because up next THE DISNEY MAGIC!!

To be continued!!

When we were at MGM in 2003, DH was the volunteer who got soaked! He didn't realize what he was getting into. The kids just ROARED when they saw Dad get soaked. I have a great photo of it, but it's at home so I can't post it. Trust me, it's great.

Love the photo of your guys in the Narnia scene.
Thanks for posting. Can't wait to hear about the cruise.

If you get a chance please DO post that photo! Like I said, I roll with laughter at other people getting soaked! ;) :lmao:

And our dog (the amazingly stupid for eating garbage/smart for being able to break into the baby proof latch to get at it dog) is doing well again. He just has this thing for eating the most rotten of the rotten garbage and making himself sick doing it. In all other ways he is a sweet thing...but he just drives me nuts being the doggie Houdini (at least as far as breaking into secured garbage cans).

Up next...embarking on the next leg of our journey...the Disney Magic!

Another awesome installment!! I am hooked and i cannot wait to read about your fun on the upcoming cruise!!! Make sure to provide plenty of pics!! ;)

another great installment. I really loved it. I do have a question though. Where exactly is the fire escape at the Contemporary? I'd be interested in doing this myself! I can't wait to hear about the cruise and more of the magic your family shared. :goodvibes

Great "episode" prima. I loved it. I cried. Can't wait to hear about the ship. :thumbsup2

If you go out on to the observation deck on the 4th floor (the door for that is right by the pin trading stand) and look to your right you will see a concrete staircase going up. Just follow it up as high as you like (it's not a scary sort of drop down staircase fire escape, just a concrete stairwell that runs along the outside of the building) and stop at whatever landing provides you with the view you want! :) There were a few other parties on the landings but for the most part, we had our choice of floors. It was a great experience!

Jaycns,

Another excellent installment :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear about the Disney Cruise. I have always wanted to go, maybe someday
