Hi All! We are back from our Land/Sea. Thought I'd post a few highlights and more later....

First 3 nights at Beach Club, was excellent for those of us w/young kids. My DS5 loved the water slide and tide pool. Lines at park non-existent. Pleasantly surprised with AK park! Loved it! Quite a few attractions at MK undergoing renovation. Went on Mission Space at Epcot - virutal reality to the max - would not be surprised to read about folks having heart attacks on that one!!

On Sunday AM - we left from Port Canaveral. First stop Charlston, SC - did not find out until morning of cruise - was provided no option from Disney to rebook so we could be on a cruise when it would visit CC. Was not thrilled with this, but hey, at least I was not at my desk at work.....

Spent one day at Charlston, we did not get off boat, although the CM's said they briefly did get off to go shopping.
Then one Day at sea and one day in Nassau (the highlight of the trip).

Servers - Cristian from Chili and Adam from Australia (both very funny).

In Nassua we visited Cable Beach. Most of the hotels looked like they had some serious damage. The inlet by the Wyndham was still intact, but was filled with ocean debris, so it was unswimmable for the kids. Two of their pools were closed due to hurricane damage. We did use the beach, and while the kids were swimming, various items washed ashore, pieces of houses, wooden gates, etc.

Was docked next to 2 Canival ships - the Fantasy - which looked absolutely dreadful w/practically no veranda rooms. The other Carnival boat - I think it was the Miracle - looked much better. Of course the Wonder looked the best!!

On the last morning, our servers did say that the Magic was planning on going to CC this week, and if they did dock successfully, the Wonder would begin visits there as well. This is GREAT news for upcoming cruises!

More Later --- Cathy

Hi Cathy!

Just got off the Wonder this am too! We had the same servers! They were great! Adam is a cutie! Did not like the stop in SC and Bahamas was not that great. The ship was wonderful and ths staff really made it a wonderful trip!

Hey all -

We were also on this cruise - a group of 12 in all. Had a good time. It didn't quite have all the sparkle of our first cruise last November, but still a great vacation. We've rebooked for a 7-night Western next October.
We, too, were disappointed not being able to go to CC, but appreciated that DCL arranged the Charleston option. It was no match for Castaway, but at least provided an alternative to another day at sea. We did get off the ship and did a carriage tour around the city as well as shop at the market area. After a few hours, we got back on the ship and enjoyed some indoor activities - such as a Bridge Tour - as it rained for awhile.
We got to try a couple of new things from our last trip - Palo Brunch (YUM!) and the Rasul spa bath.
Glad to hear Castaway is back in action for future cruisers - and I'm insanely jealous!

Y'all should have gotten off the ship in Charleston. It is a beautiful city. I know the weather was NOT GOOD to say the least. However, that is one of things we have no control over.

There are some great shops down on the waterfront...and restaurants...and shops.....and shops.....and restaurants....

Having never been on the Disney Cruise before, we had a fantastic time. Yes, we were mildly dissapointed that we didn't see Castaway Cay, but seeing the look in our 3 year old daughter's face each day quickly made up for that! As long as she saw a princess each day, she didn't care if we stayed on the boat or not! Service was great - - weather was fine.

I was grateful that we cruised and it wasn't cut short like those from the weekend before our cruise. And when you consider the fact that many people lost their lives and homes, missing Castaway Cay just doesn't seem to measure up. We'll see it next year when we rebook.

Not that I would want to miss Castaway Cay for it. I was born in Charlston but moved away when I was little. I have no family there, so no other reason to visit, but would have loved the "surprise".pirate:
