We made our ADR's prior to the change in price/age for buffet dining. The CM told us without our even asking that there would be a price change, but because we made ADR's prior to the change, the old price would be honored. She even gave a date when the "grandfathering" would end. It was September something. Her name was Addie Lou. :)

Anyone have any recent experience with this? I'm sure if you do not ask they would just charge you the new amount, but has anyone been given the grandfathered pricing? :sunny:

We were there in July and I had made my ADRs prior to the announcement of the age change. We were not "grandfathered" in - we paid the adult price for dd11 at Chef Mickey's and Biergarten. All the table services I simply requested the children's menu and didn't have a problem with that.

I have read several reviews that said the restaurant didn't care when the ADR was made, that the new price was charged. I would go in expecting to pay the higher price, explain what you were told, and be pleasantly surprised if they agree.

I thought the cut off age for kids was 10 y/o. If I take my GD back in the spring she will be 9 y/o. Will I be paying adult or child prices for her?

We just returned last week and we asked at Cape May if our prior to the new change ressie would be honored and we were told NO. So we canceled that ressie. At trails End my grandson was charged an adult price, even though we pointed out that we had made ressies before the change. Again we still had to pay adult price (which was OK since he likes this food and it's only $4 more). At ALL restruarants he was given the adult menu. We often asked for the childs menu. When he did order off the childs menu, it was not a problem. The 2 places where he did order an adult hamburger and fries, we ended up throwing half the meal away because it was too much food for him. (That was at Liberty Tree and AllStar Official Cafe' WWS). He's not a big eater at all, so we will be dropping buffets from our future plans with him until he eats more adult food and adult portions. I do have to admit, at the places where he could not finish his meals (or even half his meals) we did not get deserts, so it actually saved us money because no one got deserts. (We laughed because by Disney changing this for us, they are actually saving us money now--and somehow I don't think that's what they had in mind.) We won't miss character meals, because we usually only went to the buffets for the food, not the characters.
