89.99 Theme Park Tix at Kroger

Maybe Universal has sent out word to deactivate any remaining ones. That would be depressing. The only other possibility is that someone tried to take them out of the store without paying for them, which would automatically deactivate them. Quite a coincidence if it happened in 2 separate places tho.

Whew, I'm glad I purchashed & activated mine on 1/26. I guess it was too good to last. I was going to get more but I guess that's out of the question now.

When is the last time someone purchased these? I have found some but after paying they could not be activated. The manager said he could not let me have them.Anyone else have a problem or suggestions?

Same here. I found them over the weekend. Paid for them. Then, they could not be activated. Wasn't allowed to keep them.

Such a bummer. I was so excited about finding them and then couldn't even keep them.

Maybe some of you will have better luck than I did but I think they have canceled them out of their computer system somehow. They are probably not even supposed to be out in the stores but somehow got overlooked at certain ones for one reason or another...

I'm going back to Kroger tomorrow or the next day & try to buy 4 more...hopefully it's just a fluke. Actually a lil surprised that Universal didn't pull these sooner, if in fact that's what happened.

It is not a fluke. I have been back a couple of times and tried different cards. None of them will activate. I am a little disappointed if Universal had these stopped. Why not just let the remaining ones stay good? The manager at my Kroger has pulled them off the rack, and there were about 15 of them left.My trip onsite just got 1 day shorter due to ticket prices.

Yeah, these tickets are not good now:confused3. Kroger should pull them off of their shelves.

The last time we went to Universal was in early 2008 just before they opened the Simpson ride. My husband and I were looking forward to going back this time but the ticket prices have gone up so much that I am thinking of going somewhere else for our spring vacation.

Of course, the ticket prices are rising dramatically because of the WWOHP (Harry Potter), but from the way it sounds on other threads, it will not be open until sometime in May.

Well UO has links to customer satisfaction surveys. I'm at work right now but I bet someone else can post a link to them. Let them know how happy you are that they pulled a stunt like this on loyal customers who supported them when nobody else would bother to show up. I can understand them raising prices, deactivating cards already out there is a cheap shot.

I wonder if Kroger was supposed to take all of the cards out off their shelves by a certain time and that is why lots of the stores don't have them anymore.

The stores in my county had them on the racks as of yesterday. The only one that didn't has been out for weeks and we figured it was because it just so happened that somebody local beside me knew about the price rise.

I could see if they were showing up on Ebay for big bucks as competition to UO but all of the people reporting on availability said there were decent supplies left, so it's not like we were going around and clearing out the stock so we could sell them at a profit later. It just seems like unnecessary nickel and diming, between everyone that reported there were 100 left spread out over several states. :confused3

Hmmm. I dunno. At about $50 per ticket loss, it could amount to quite a bit. Who knows how many are still in stockrooms?

The ones already bought and activated should be good though, right? If anyone uses theirs, let the rest of us know when you get back. My trip is not until July.

If they were activated, they are good. There is no expiry date on them. Just don't lose your activation slip, just to prove that you got them before they were discontinued.

I asked the store manager if they were supposed to be notified when to take certain cards down & she said yes but they had not heard anything about the US/IOA tickets & really thought it was just a bad batch but like I said in my thread, the other Kroger store was the same & they too had no explaination.

It would have been nice to just let them run out, can't believe US would pull the plug with no warning, so unfair.....

We'll be using them in about 3 weeks so you will know if there are any problems in plenty of time.

I guess they expect their Super Bowl ad to bring in a lot of new business, it seems they timed the passes to go down about the same time their new advertising blitz started.

We were talking about cards that were still on the racks. Nobody ever said anything about replenishing stores that had already run out. And you are counting that "loss" by assuming that anyone who would have bought a 7-day pass for $90 is now going to run out and buy a 7 day pass for $170 or however much they are charging for it.. That's already been shown not to be the case, people are cutting back on days instead.

Actually I said $50 assuming people would not be purchasing a 7 day pass but more likely a 2 or 3 day pass. I averaged it out.

I'm not sure how companies deal with discontinuing gift card promos. This might be the way it is done. Maybe they all just stop allowing them to be activated instead of trying to round up all the extra cards still hanging around in various stores.

I also didn't talk about replenishing stores but actually just using up what was in their stockroom.

Ok, Im getting a little concerned. How do u know if they are activated. What would it have said? I have bought 6 and all i have for it is a receipt. I am going to be sick if these aren't useable. I have them here at the house. i bought the last one on feb 2nd. Am i reading this right just because u bought the cards if they didn't get activated that im just out of luck? are they activated when u scan them to pay? if there was a problem they would'nt have let me pay for them? I sending a copy to universal tomorrow and hopefully here something in a couple of days.....

You should have received a receipt that says activation status on it. The clerk would have activated them when you paid for them. Make sure you have and kept that slip. I also received a receipt for each that says "A Gift for you". So, in total, I have 4 receipts. The store receipt, the activation receipt, and two receipts that say "A gift for you".

There is a phone number that says for gift card questions call 1-866-544-8062 on the activation status receipt.

Just came from Kroger (again)............

and another confirmation that the USO cards are no longer "buyable". I even went to customer service 1st, and they said they're still good. The cashier even did an over-ride which let me "buy/pay-for" them, but then they wouldn't validate/activate.

The manager was clueless about these not being any good, and said they'd pull them from the kiosk to avoid any more problems. It seems the powers that be would alert the store or something?:confused3

I just returned from Kroger. They charged me $899 but then couldn't get the cards to activate so they had to reverse the charge. What a tease. I asked the manager to call the other Kroger stores that I knew had them and ask for them to be taken off. I also gave them the rest of the unsold ones, they threw them in the gargbage.

I didn't buy any tickets at kroger or aaa but I booked a vacation package through the universal website right before the price increase and picked the $100 7day unlimited parks pass and then finished paying for the vacation after the increase. I have the e-travel print out and it shows the tickets I picked and says i have to pick them up at a kiosk, i'm just getting worried now seeing all these problems with the discount passes and hoping i'm not going to get the tickets when i'm there next month and for some reason they wont work. I hope it should be fine since technicaly i bought them before, i just know when i was checking the hotel for our reservation they said universal doesn't send the reservation until 72hrs before check in and am worried they do the same with the tickets and then they wont exist.:confused3
