Honestly, we planned this May trip as a last hooray of our PAP's. But with the "holiday" surcharge and lack of AP discounts, we are just one good Ding away from scrapping the whole trip and going to DL instead. I mean really! If we are spending $1200 for food and another $1000 for weekend rooms, we just about have DL covered. Hmmm, what to do, what to do? If I got a Ding for $75 from RDU to LAX, that would be $750ish. Use DVC points for DL room weekdays, then stay offsite and one weekend in San Diego. $1139 for the So. Cal CityPass. I need to calc the cost for food and rental car........but, I'm feeling really cheap today. I don't to give anybody any of my cash. Anyone ever get in one of those moods?

I vote for DL. :teeth: Ok, but seriously - you can eat cheap offsite in Anaheim. Across the street from DLR/DCA is a sleuth of decent restaurants and fast food joints all within walking distance. Oh and there are several CS places in DTD that serve good food and a reasonable price.... Napolini, Tortilla Joes Taqueria, Jazz Kitchen Express.....;)

That's when Mickey goes in for the kill with... DVC!!! :rotfl:
:rotfl2: Our first trip in 2005 we only did 3 TS meals (CP, Tepp and DTD one) obviously with the free DDP we have one almost everyday but TBH if we went back without it we would never eat at a TS every day, admittedly more than the 3 times like our first trip but WDW would definitely lose money from us!!!

So I just got off the phone with Ramsey (:rolleyes1 ) who told me the dates for the various grand gathering things we're considering. Phew. It's about time I got that information. THEN he adds that I can't book anything until 180 days from the actual date of the event! WTH??? So, according to him, I am going to have to call every day next week to get the GG experiences we want and the ADRs. :confused3

I'm at a loss.
Can you remind me why you're a GG?

Poor baby:sad2:
I know it was tough waiting :rotfl2:

Am on the phone now with Disney DIning....will report back later:thumbsup2
:yay:

But, what I did want to share is that they are really really pushing the DDP to APers. I told one CM that it just wasn't a good deal anymore. He said well you save 40%. I told him that was a load of crap. Doesn't he know who I am? ;) He was actually arguing with me. I said over and over that with the tip not included, that it wasn't a good deal. Then he said, "well the tip is up to your discretion." What in the heck does that mean? Anyhow, I do think DDP sales are way down.
I think things will have to change, look on the bright side though in theory it should be easier to get ADRs :thumbsup2

So, I just got off the line with Disney Dining. I made my ADR's and I got "Have a Magical Day"
Not fair I never got a magical day  :rotfl2:

So8/20/08 - DHS - Lunch @ Sci Fi Dine In
PM me your time as I've got that booked too :thumbsup2

Slate, Listen to T. :thumbsup2 When we went to DL in 2001 we stayed at a place right across the street (Can't remember the name right of the top of my head but I remember something Carousuel:confused3 ) anyway we only ate one sit down meal at the Blue Bayou but otherwise we ate the places right along the main strip there. Perkins, etc....Cheap but good food! We did one road trip to LA when we were there and even those meals were quick things (Farmers Market, a snack at the zoo, and something to eat at the Staple Center becauase we went to a hockey game....that was our most expensive meal:rolleyes: ) I say if you can do it..go for it!:thumbsup2

We just started doing more TS meals since my parents get the discount, we usually would only pick one or 2 TS before too.

Not fair I never got a magical day  :rotfl2:

They like me better than you:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

PM on it's way:thumbsup2

This wasn't really a prob for us....alcohol related expenses seemed to appear on the tab too, so the servers just said "want the rest on the room??"

Yep! (and we added the tip, signed it and left--just like a regular restaurant)

(it's a problem NOW, cause I just got the Visa bill! )

But it wasn't awkward at any meal.
There was only 1 place that we got alcoholic drinks - Raglan Road. Otherwise, we just got what was included. So, we would just end up getting a bill for the tip. :sad2:

I arrive with my family on the 20th and then my sister and her family and my mother are coming down on Sunday to join us for the rest of the week. We'll be a party of 12!
Will you be doing a T and touring with them? :faint: :rotfl2:

They like me better than you:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
Hey  :rotfl:

Looks like Janet and I will be meeting on the 20th :yay: Our ADR's are 40 mins apart and this time she WILL see me :rotfl2:

Do you really get a bill just for the tip?
Or do you get a bill for your meal, noting it is charged to DDP. This way you know how much you are supposed to tip.

I am doing lots of buffets. I feel less tip generous when I eat at a buffet. Especially if my Diet Pepsi stays empty longer than 60 seconds. :upsidedow

I never tip as much at the buffets. I know a lot of people do but I don't. If I have to serve myself my own food then of course I'm not tipping as much.

Sometimes I ask for a gratuity refund/discount if I have to do too much of the work. ;)

That is the plan. My boys only get to see their cousins once a year or so, and this is it. We split up from time to time, but for the most part we'll be one big group.

Now you know why I'm going a little crazy.

::yes:: :rotfl2: I couldn't do it, just reading T's TR was bad enough :rotfl2:

I'm trying to remember.........they give you a bill for the total amount....you write down how much tip you want to add (the 18 and 20% are in a neat calculation for you to review).........then they come back with the amount that was not on DDP and you can either: 1-add to room 2-pay cash 3-put on another card.

It's truly no different than if you had used a regular credit card at a regular restaurant....the waiter always gives you a bill and you can add a tip or leave at the table.

That's right. They did the same thing when gratuity was included just in case you were feeling generous and wanted to tip more, which I didn't. ;)

They did! Effective yesterday we no longer have to buy the one day ticket!:woohoo:

Really???????

I think the tip being a separate charge was a pain but it was simple enough to do. I did feel somewhat uncomfortable about then know what you were tipping before you even tip, tho! You write in the amount and then they run it on whatever card you want. It just seemed weird. I figured out a general idea of how much to tip before hand so that made it easier.

Ok people, it's time for Song of the Day!!! :music:

The standings are as follows:

Janet: 50 Focker points.

Next song:
80's genre -
Name the song & Artist

BONUS: Name the 90's Movie starring Adam Sandler.

Don't tell me you don't know the difference
Between a lover and a fighter
With my pen and my electric typewriter
Even in a perfect world where everyone was equal
I'd still own the film rights and be working on the sequel
