Jo said she won't be back until Friday. I guess we will all have to be patient until then:sad2: Oh well, I guess I will just go shopping tomorrow:lmao:

HELP, HELP! Okay, with my Dec. trip complete and the holidays pretty much over, I've turned my attention to 2008 trip planning and I'm having a dilemma...

Not enough points. Not enough points, not enough points, not enough points. To cover Aug., a night in Oct/Nov for the F&W Fest, and a few nights in Dec. I'll need to do a hotel at some point in there. But when??? And where???

Let's start with "Where?" I loved the Poly. But can only afford it in value season, WITH a good AP discount. AP discounts at the Poly are very hard to get in Dec.

I also love the WL. I've only ever stayed there in cold months, but it might be nice to try the pool there someday. It suffers the same problem as the Poly - very hard to get AP rates at all, let alone in Dec.

Moving on to the "When?"... Historically, it's pretty easy to get good discounts at the end of Aug. But that's coming up sooner than Dec. Which means less time to save money. On the other hand, Dec. uses less points/per night than Aug. It's also somewhat difficult to secure points at resorts other than SSR and OKW for Dec.

OR, I could borrow 2009 points to cover more DVC nights. Putting myself in the same position as this year - not enough points for 2009. And so on. And so on. And so on. But maybe a year will come whe I don't need them all and it'll even out again? :confused3

My mind is a scary place to be right now. I'm gonna go do some Fuzzy Math and see if that helps. ;)

Um, buy more points. Sorry that's all I can come up with. I have a bad case of addonitis starting. If what they are building at CR is DVC or part DVC, I am soooo buying points there! I am holding off until there is an official annoucement of what the contruction site is going to be.

:lmao: Thank Mo! Yeah, more points would be my first choice, too, but not in the cards this year.

BUT, I could just borrow the points from 2009 - I wouldn't need more than about 1/4 of them - with the thought that sometime in the enxt few years I WILL buy more points! Looking at the construction at CR (sorry - I didn't manage any pics as we were bussing), I'm really anxious to hear, too. It looks like they're up to about the 3rd or 4th floor at this point and it is definitely a C shape. I'm willing to wager $1 on my guess - I say it'll be a combination of suites and DVC. ;)

Back to my dilemma... in my whiniest voice, but I really loved the Poly! :rotfl:

Since I didn't get any DVC for Christmas I can't help you out, sorry. Could you rent points from someone else. Would that be cheaper than payiin OOP for a room only or borrowing more points from 2009:confused3

Only a $1 n the wager, you will never ger more points that way:rotfl2:

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with Vacaydilemitis. Ewww.... sounds like something you need to see you Gynie for eh? :lmao:

Hmmmm.... :scratchin:

But when??? And where???
Do I really need to tell you? Psst.... P-O-L-Y!

AP discounts at the Poly are very hard to get in Dec.
How about in August? OR you could do a 1 nighter in POR like me. Just sayin'. :teeth:

What about staying at OKW? Isn't the point per night lower than SSR? I could be talking out of the side of my neck, of course. :lmao:

BINGO! We have a winner! ;)

My mind is a scary place to be right now. I'm gonna go do some Fuzzy Math and see if that helps. ;)

FWIW, Andy and I have both been doing some Fuzzy Math both last night and tonight. Call us and we can have a Fuzzy Math party! Of course I think LL is having Fuzzy Math issues as well! :dance3:

popcorn:: This should be interesting...

Story of my life, Sista!! :sad2:

Yep...December is less points and yep again...SSR and OKW almost ALWAYS seem to be available...which I must admit, made me nervous till I actually STAYED at SSR... We'll see how OKW is in January as I've got 2 nights in a 1BR there...unless, that is, I change that...

OR, I could borrow 2009 points to cover more DVC nights. Putting myself in the same position as this year - not enough points for 2009. And so on. And so on. And so on. But maybe a year will come whe I don't need them all and it'll even out again? :confused3

I try telling myself the same thing:lmao: I think we'll be taking a break in '09 and letting the points catch up...before Tony finds out how in the hole we are!! (Just wait till he sees the credit card statements!!)I'm in the red on points every year...my use year is in September and I'm already borrowing all of 2009's points - and I could be wrong here - but I coulda sworn they told me that unless you're booking a cruise with points, you can't borrow 2 years worth, which is what I wanted to do to get a grand villa for November. It's a nasty cycle.

My mind is a scary place to be right now. I'm gonna go do some Fuzzy Math and see if that helps. ;)

I wonder how much $$$ per point CR would be...GULP...

Although, I'd really love to have me some AKV points...Yep...serious addonitis!!

Back to my dilemma... in my whiniest voice, but I really loved the Poly! :rotfl:

:lmao: Want some cheese with that whine???

Ok, gotta throw my 2 cents in here - only cause I went through this in August....I looked at borrowing points - 100 to cover 2 weekend nights at SSR...well, points were going from $10 (to $12) per point...soooo figure $1,000 for a weekend! YIKES!! And of course, that was PER POINT, so a studio would obviously be less, but still...

THEN, I called DVC MS and asked about the DVC cash discount...well, for a 1BR on a weekend night, it was $277 (vs. $364 rack rate btw)...

I don't think renting is the greatest option for a DVC owner....AND...if you want, V, check with MS and see if DVC owners get a cash break at other hotels...ahem...Poly...Can't hurt to try....

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with Vacaydilemitis. Ewww.... sounds like something you need to see you Gynie for eh? :lmao:

:lmao: Reminds me of that old Joan Rivers comedy routine where her doctor yells "I see cobwebs!!!"

What about staying at OKW? Isn't the point per night lower than SSR? I could be talking out of the side of my neck, of course.

Nope - you're right, T. OKW is lower points...I know the whole pink/purple thing isn't the most attractive, but...gotta go for the lower points. Plus, every single DVC member that I've talked to that owns at or stays at OKW absolutely LOVES it there. And someone I worked with up in NH (non-DVC) stayed there 2x/year for at least the 4 years I worked with him. They won't stay anywhere else. They love the pool, etc...I'm actually looking forward to checking it out.

Now of course i'm thinking of calling MS and changing my 1BR at OKW to a studio (since they have 2 beds) and having more points for another night in August....:teacher: FDM rides again!!!

FWIW, Andy and I have both been doing some Fuzzy Math both last night and tonight. Call us and we can have a Fuzzy Math party!

Sign me up!! Conference call!!! And uh oh...is it a good FDM discussion at least??:confused3

Of course I think LL is having Fuzzy Math issues as well! :dance3:

ALWAYS having Fuzzy Disney Math issues.

But at least, thanks to our very dear friend V, I can finally put a name to my DISorder....

Oh no, it's the good one! We're playing the whole Deluxe v. DVC v. monorail resort v. dining plan v. AP's v. DDE. :rotfl2:

Heh heh heh.... gives me a great reason to start up a MAD SKILLZ spreadsheet!!! Bwahahahaha!!! :stir:

Oooooh!!!!:woohoo: Ok, my vote?? DVC, AP and DDE!!

Just sayin'....:rolleyes1

AP's MUCH CHEAPER if you're going to go back within a year. I wasn't going to renew my AP this year, just because for the 3 of us it was going to be just over $900 (Yikes - Merry Christmas!) BUT, then I priced up tickets and it came out to about that for like 8 days or something - it was crazy.

Then, lucky for me, Tony said he couldn't go in January, so I just renewed mine and Michael's ($318+$278) so it saved me a bit of money...How sad, "Honey, I'm sorry. You can't come. You cost too much money!":lmao:

And I think I'm definitely going to do the DDP in January, but not sure about August since it'll only be (maybe) four days. Every time I do the math though it sure does come out cheaper, so we'll see...

Well, hey, at least Andy's involved in the discussions...give him a big thumbs up from me:thumbsup2 . Tony's eyes just glaze over and roll back in his head whenever I start my conversations with "Where should we..." and "Should we do..." and God forbid I come out with "You know, I've been thinking....":lmao:

Oooooh!!!!:woohoo: Ok, my vote?? DVC, AP and DDE!!
Ditto - that gets my vote, too! (In case Andy cares what your imaginary friends think he should do with his money. ;) )

Okay, I ran the Fuzzy numbers and...

I made it work! Listen up LL - you'll want to hear about this, too:

First off, I realized that Paris for Thanksgiving next year is highly unlikely. :sad1: The dollar's just losing too much value and I really need to pay down some debt. Still, if I can manage to keep all my WDW stays on points rather than cash, we might be able to go somewhere for Thanksgiving.

I also realized that Leo and I will be taking a long trip up north this summer to visit with friends and relatives. So, really, this would be a good year to do a few short WDW trips, rather than any week-long jobs.

SO, with that in mind, I started with WDW dates for my DVC 2008 use year:

8/21-24
10/26
12/13-14

Then, I jsut kept shuffling the resort options around those dates until... SUCCESS! Just like a puzzle, if I matched the right resort with the right dates, I came out under the number of points I have left...

8/21-24 at OKW or AKV (standard view)
10/26 at OKW
12/13-14 at VWL - if we can get it

This leaves me with a whole 4 extra points left over to bank for 2009! Then I can do this:
5/23-25 2009 at OKW
5 nights Dec. 2009 at SSR

It's Fuzzy Elementary! :teacher:

Now, I just have to choose between OKW and AKV for Aug.... We stopped at OKW on our way home last week, just to look around.

LL, are you reading?

I, too, had heard all the amazing stories of DISers absolutely in love with OKW, and didn't get it, based on pics from allearsnet. Let me tell you - it's gorgeous! Gramma, Leo and I all said we'd love to stay there someday, and we agreed that we'd prefer a warm time of year so we could really use the pool. Aug. would fit that bill nicely, no?

Of course, Aug. is really, really hot. So interior hallways leading to stuff would be nice. Enter AKV. I'm dying to try their villas out. And I love the resort. And the zero-entry pool is a big plus for Leo. And I always enjoy the food at Mara.

HELP! :rotfl: This may become a poll very soon. Rather like the great Biergarten/Garden Grill decision of 2007. ;)

I don't know how y'all do it - my head hurts just reading about it! :lmao:

V, I'm glad it all worked out though! :cool1:

Way too confusing to me....but as long as you made it work:thumbsup2

V, I'm glad it all worked out though! :cool1:

Me too CE

Oooooh!!!!:woohoo: Ok, my vote?? DVC, AP and DDE!!
Yeah, that was my vote, too! BUT - we won't be returning in '09 even if we buy into DVC. We've got a huge trip planned in '10 with my brother and his family for a cruise and Grand Villa stay for at least 14 days total. I'll have to bank points next year.

And I think I'm definitely going to do the DDP in January, but not sure about August since it'll only be (maybe) four days. Every time I do the math though it sure does come out cheaper, so we'll see...
Yup - no matter how I slice it, DDP is cheaper.

It's not always good, though. He tries to **** block me constantly! :lmao: And then trying to explain to him the whole DVC points thing is worse than trying to potty train Evan! :headache:

Ditto - that gets my vote, too! (In case Andy cares what your imaginary friends think he should do with his money. ;) )

:lmao: I'm sure he'll appreciate that!

SO, with that in mind, I started with WDW dates for my DVC 2008 use year:

Wait.... what happened to January??

I, too, had heard all the amazing stories of DISers absolutely in love with OKW, and didn't get it, based on pics from allearsnet. Let me tell you - it's gorgeous! Gramma, Leo and I all said we'd love to stay there someday, and we agreed that we'd prefer a warm time of year so we could really use the pool. Aug. would fit that bill nicely, no?

I have to admit, when we passed by on the ME, it REALLY looked nice. Of course, the purple/pink rooms scared Andy off, but the resort looks wonderful.

Of course, Aug. is really, really hot. So interior hallways leading to stuff would be nice. Enter AKV. I'm dying to try their villas out. And I love the resort. And the zero-entry pool is a big plus for Leo. And I always enjoy the food at Mara.
D'oh! :headache: I really like the AKV. I wonder if the new pool area will be complete by Aug?

Jimm and Tony are going to get along famously:sad2: Usually when I say I've been thinking" Jim's response is "How much is it going to cost:rolleyes:
I think that's the standard husband response! :lmao:

I don't know how y'all do it - my head hurts just reading about it! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Say it isn't so! :sad1:
Wait.... what happened to January??
January's stay is on points borrowed from 2008... so now they're 2007 points. Just to complicate things further.
D'oh! :headache: I really like the AKV. I wonder if the new pool area will be complete by Aug?
I'll be surprised if any of Kidani is ready by Aug. I think they just started construction within the last month or so?

Then again, you never know.

:rotfl2:[/QUOTE]

Mo--don't worry--I've already contacted a photopass photographer--he says he will personally follow you around the water parks to get those really close-up pics that you might otherwise miss!
And, for an extra $10, he promised me he will post them live here on the DIS boards! :thumbsup2
(oh stop.....you don't have to thank me...what r friends for??" :lmao:
:rotfl2:

Let's see.... currently on the resort roulette wheel we have:

The Poly, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, SSR and WL Villas. Each has its pros and cons. I've got about 30 days to decide.
Is that all ;) :rotfl2:

Just wondering, Jo...How did it go with the girls?

I was hoping to find out the same thing!

JO....WHERE ARE YOU????

:santa:

Ditto that! :hyper:

popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

Jo said she won't be back until Friday. I guess we will all have to be patient until then:sad2: Oh well, I guess I will just go shopping tomorrow:lmao:

:rotfl2: Yep I'm still at Dad's home tomorrow, the girls were more than excited about the trip and when I told them all of you would be there too they were ecstatic :cloud9: I did video it but I don't know how to edit it so it's short enough to go on here, anyone know?

HELP, HELP! Okay, with my Dec. trip complete and the holidays pretty much over, I've turned my attention to 2008 trip planning and I'm having a dilemma...
OK V that totally lost me but I'm glad you got it sorted out

I'm hoping now the girls know that I can get onto some serious planning once I get home, hopefully my Passporter will have arrived too, the girls are keen to help plan the ADR's this year :thumbsup2
