Hi- I am curious- is $86 pp a really great deal OR in recent years have there been similar promos. What I am wondering is- If I miss this bus- will another bus just as good be coming along shortly?

This has always been the best promotion (aside from the lifetime passes of course).
They had this promotion last year around this time (that's when we bought) don't know about next year.

I think this is a very aggressive promotion, and don't think anything just as good will come along unless sales slow down at SSR. Basically, there is no schedule to these promotions...they just institute them to spur sales and pull them back when they feel sales can handle it.

I'm not saying they won't be back with something this good again. I'm just saying that it is doubtful they'll beat it. If you're on the fence and are happy to buy at SSR, I think this is about as good as it gets. :)

OH-MY- did they give lifetime park passes at one point? That is ridiculously cool! Whoever got in on that- I am jealous- and congratulations!

I don't think they gave any lifetime passes...but someone can correct me on that.

What I am aware of is that those who bought in when it started got free park passes through 1999, I think. So those who bought in 1993 got 6 years worth of free park passes. At least that's what I remember being reported here.

I'm sure some of the "old timers" can provide a better response but I'm not aware of any lifetime passes. That alone would make DVC worth it even if you never stayed there!! :teeth:

the bus that we jumped on early last fall was $83.xx/pt, so unless dvc has been known to hold clearance sales, i'd grab a dvc friend or family member and jump on this bus!

how many buses have you missed since you started thinking about dvc?

:thumbsup2 I was on the same bus!! :rotfl: That's why Im not on this bus. :wizard:

The promotion was better last year and although the offer was repeated, the base price has increased. Those of us that purchased last year received $15 off ppt, current years points and a 1 time set of developer points for $83. This year's F&F does offer $15 but with the price increase it is now $86 and they are not offering developer points.

If you looked at a trend chart for DVC pricing, it would show a steady increase, even with incentives.

Good luck on buying that bus ticket and joining us! Its been a great ride!:wizard:

SSR is in its last phase and once AKV starts selling, people will look to SSR because it will be lower priced than AKV. It wont need incentives to sell out, just be cheaper than AKV. DVC will market this option well.

When you purchased at $83.XX was your building complete- or was that like a presale?

"Lifetime passes" were never offered. Early buyers at OKW and VB did get free admission to MK, EC and MGM thru 1999 while staying on points at OKW.(Admission to AK was not included.)
The offer was made for purchases thru 1995 and those staying in a studio or 1BR got 2 passes (length of stay), those in a 2BR got 4 passes and 6 for those in a GV - basically 1/2 the occupancy for the villa.
Buyers after '95 got a 10% discount on hopper passes and that was continued for all members after 1999 until the current AP discount.

There's a lot of wisdom in those two sentences.

There may be future promotions, but the base price keeps creeping up. I'm glad we caught the $83.33 bus for our add-on!

Hi, another post lists the end date for the friends and family discount as Jan 20th. If you are considering being part of the family, you should keep this date in mind.

83.30 was the price they had last year for ssr started right after the fiscal year started, i forgot when it ended.

The base price does keep creeping up. I'm glad some of our wise cruisemates explained this to us so that we jumped on the bus last December at $83.33 per point. Also, realize that the longer you wait to join, the shorter you have as SSR ends in 2054 regardless of when you purchase.

I honestly have no idea. We bought in December 2005 and got an August use year. They gave us all of the 2005 use year points and we didn't have to pay dues in 2005. We did start paying dues in 2006.

i don't know that it mattered if the bldg was complete or not...points become available for sale as room inventory is projected to become available [hope that's clear]...even though we have a deed for our share of whatever unit we purchased, that doesn't mean that we have to stay in that unit - we can stay in any dvc resort that we want and where our desired accomodation is available. matter of fact - we have yet to stay at ssr - we love the theming and space at okw! but we like the theming at ssr and we'll get around to . we recently stayed at the hhi resort and we loved the theming and size of the porch there!

we have bought a lot of things in our married lives - but dvc is one of the best things we ever purchased! as many have said - i wish we had done it sooner!

:confused3 I didnt know how to respond to this question because I dont really think it mattered last year. I know SSR is currently selling unfinished inventory and with most UY's past they may not be offering current Year points.

Why do you ask? :goodvibes

I was just curious because my guide told me that you could not use your points (actually stay in a resort on your points) until your building was complete- but that you could make reservations. I was wondering how long you money was tied up while you had to wait to actually stay at DVC.

I used some of my points the month after I purchased, so perhaps that means my building was complete.

Ok, thanks!

Yes that is true if you are in presales, which you must be. Many here doubted SSR was selling as quickly as it was when they offered the deal last year. If your unit has not been declared into inventory then you are in presale. This may be why we were offered Developer points last year as well. Developer points can be used right away, points tied to inventory cannot. It was not an issue for most of us, because we purchased add-ons and already had our next trip planned and paid for. As a new purchaser, I dont really see it as having money tied up, except your deposit, which allows you to make reservations (after your unit is opened) and gives you immediate member benefits and access. You are also not paying dues until your closing.

Your guide should be able to tell you your projected closing date so that you can make reservations.
