Does anyone know if this deluxe family stateroom sleeps four or five?

Our youngest will be 18 months when we sail. She still might be using a crib, in which case I think we can use their pac-n-play, but was wondering just in case she is sleeping in a 'regular' bed by then. I'd rather have a room that has the enough beds to sleep 5 and not need it than the other way.

Much thanks!!

They will not book 5 people in a room which has only 4 berths, even if one of the people may be sleeping in a portable crib. If they assigned this room to you, I would think that it almost certainly does have 5 beds. A quick call to reservations could confirm.

We stayed in 8550 2 years ago with 3 kids and 2 parents. The main bed is 2 twins pushed together, then the sofa converts to a bed, the bunkbed comes down from the ceiling and then there is a Murphy bed next to the sliding door (about 4 inches from it actually) that is folded up during the day and put back down at night. It's been awhile since I've used a pack and play but I assume it would be smaller than that murphy bed. We liked the layout of the room EXCEPT when the murphy bed was down and then no way could we have gotten out onto the balcony while the kids slept without being a contortionist or climbing onto the bed. Then when the door opened a big whoosh of wind would come barreling in. A pack and play may be easier to navigate around but I do know that 8550 can take 5 people.

Heidi--
Thanks for the detailed info. I was hoping this would be the arrangement. I am also hoping that our little one will still be in the crib (pac-n-play) for the exact reason you mentioned, leaving more room to navigate around to get to the verandah. It will also have the much added benefit of knowing exactly where she is at and keeping her in one place during the night, since my husband is a bit paranoid and is worried that she can get out of bed while we are sleeping, open the verandah day, stack chairs and fall overboard. (Like that would ever happen) I guess he thinks we have supergirl on our hands and a quiet one at that. :hyper: :hyper:

I know how you feel..I felt the same way until I tried to open the verandah door and it took a LOT of strength even for an adult. My 9 year old had a hard time opening it and I think she only suceeded once! Just beware that we had some noise issues in that room from above our head.

Momto2dkids:

The verandah door lock is about 5 feet off the ground and somewhat difficult to use - highly unlikely that your todler could open it, but you can never be too careful.

Also, the cruise can supply a crib - our son was 8 months old on our first cruise and he slept fine in it - this would save you having to lug a port-a-crib with you. You'll probably have all the luggage you can carry with 5 poeple. Just a thought.
