So I'm shopping at Macy's yesterday, and I'm rummaging through the sale t-shrits in the junior department. I look to my left and there, hanging in all their glory, brand new for spring: dozens of pairs of...mid-calf leggings with the lace around the bottoms.

omg...all of a sudden I'm 14, Madonna is still "Like a Virgin" and I am SOOOOO cool in my short skirt, leggings, wide floppy bow in my hair and tennies.

:lmao:

I so almost bought a pair...and then I remembered I was old... :teeth:

Speaking of Madonna-why is she insisting on wearing the Farrah haircut-she was ripped on 2 months ago for the style and then she had it for the Grammy's, plus her skiing outfit looked like a baby onesie.

Oh yeah, I see the high school girls wearing leggings under their denim minis all the time. They wear little ballerina flats with them.

I just don't get the hair do...or the outfits. She is always reinventing herself, but this one... :confused3

I first witnessed this comeback at Abercrombie and Fitch...

so sad...

really - leggings? are stirrup pants far behind?

Stirrup pants: designed to make even the most shapely leg look like a log.

Exactly what was the point behind stirrup pants anyway? :scratchin

I'm taking my jacket to the tailor right now to have thirty more zippers put on it then I'm gonna go get some checkerboard Vans and a neon teal mesh tank top. I wanna be in style when all those horrible 80's clothes are back "in."

I had to laugh, that's what my DD12 wants checkerboard vans.

I seen the gouchos last weekend. What do they call them now? When my DD showed them to me I said goucho and she just looked at me.

nothing wrong with checkered vans...those can be "retro" when combined with current staples.

ok - just trying to justify the fact that i'm 29 and still wear chuck taylor lows. hehehe

i LOATHE the polo shirt with the popped collar that all these kids think they have invented...no my dears...we did it in the 80's first

NEWS FLASH:

Target having one day sale on all Izod Lacoste and Le Coq Sportif men's and women's wear. Stock up now, the 80's are back!

We now return you to your regular Dising

All the JCPenny Ads are all about Izod and the layered look.

FYI - Izod isn't cool...Lacoste is.

$80 for a polo? are you kidding me?

heheh

As a child of the 80's (graduated in '87), I must admit that I was so hoping that the 80's styles would be back in fashion when I had my kids. I just hate bell bottoms and that whole "don't care" look. Hooray for clean jeans! I love the popped collar look and my step daughter thinks I am a fashion genius now! Bring on the 80's!!!

P.S. I must admit that I always liked stirrup pants.

NO!! Say it isn't so! I followed almost every style in the 80's, but even then, I hated the polo shirt with turned up collar, and am proud to say I never wore it.

Just don't bring back spandex and mullets... or skin-tight jeans.

The kind you have to lay flat on the bed, hold your breath, and pull up with a pair of pliers!! ::yes:: And then have someone else help get you off the bed. :lmao:

What I want to know is...

Without a movie to inspire them, will today's youth pull out their scissors, cut the collars and cuffs out of their sweatshirts, and wear them inside-out, over a tank top, hanging off one shoulder, with a huge belt? :scratchin

I referenced Clash of the Titans in my class today and got blank stares in reply. :sad2: It depressed me.

Or the kind you sleep in all night, so they're stretched out by morning. Yes, I actually used to do that. How sad is that???

And I used to pull mine up with a hanger. Until that is, the hanger straightened out and I popped myself in the face with my own fist. :headache:
