The Team:
DH: Long suffering one (42)
DD: Beautiful, amusing and very so slightly stroppy (9 going on 19)
MIL: Sexagenarian
FIL: Sexagenarian
Me: Planner, worrier, pessimist (35 almost)
Now my mind is a complete fuzz as to what we saw and went on and I have to keep referring to the photos to remind me. Anyway me managed to meet Mary Poppins, Chip n' Dale, Max and Donald Duck almost immediately what luck - DD was made up. From here we went to Test Track which was a great ride everyone enjoyed this and DD purchased a photo ID driving license which she was thrilled with. After this Im sure we did the ride with Ellen Degeneres and the Dinosaurs, which after Test Track was a bit tame and DD was not at all impressed, she wanted fast and furious. By this time we were starting to make our way towards World Showcase when there was a bit of a body collision between DD and MIL. Unfortunately MIL came off worse and landed on the floor. She was Ok just a bit bruised and shaken so we stopped and had ice creams before taking a slow walk towards Mexico. Because it was nice and early there we no queues and we managed to ride both Rio Del Tiempo and the Viking one in Norway in no time. We stopped and ate churros in Mexico and a pastry in Norway. We passed over China, as DD was not keen on the 360-degree films.
You really forget just how much time you can while away wandering round each country. Now Im not sure what order the countries go in but we ate lunch in America after seeing the show. The singers were fantastic and DD was awestruck sat at the front under the dome. The following show is a great potted history of America but there was far too much to take in, in one go, so we had a brief history lesson over a lunch of chicken strips, salad and club sandwiches (youd wonder where we put it all given wed been snacking since we arrived).
Anyway on we trekked, we all loved Japan, not least because MIL and I work for a Japanese company and have a penchant for their snacks. As a treat (yes- another one) MIL and FIL paid for DD to have an oyster opened it turned out to be the largest pearl they had had that day at 8.25 mm, DD was delighted and I was turning an attractive shade of green with envy.
It was around this time we realised that our original plan of returning to the villa before watching Illuminations would never happen, so we continued to Canada where MIL and FIL watched the show and we sat around the lovely gardens. DD was kept amused by pretending to be David Bailey and getting us to pose to the enjoyment of everyone who passed by.
When we got to the UK there was a street show taking place and FIL volunteered himself as an extra talk about natural it was very entertaining. DD was mortified that her Granddad was making a fool of himself. By now it was 5.30 so we headed back for some more attractions and managed to do Journey into Imagination, HISTA and Spaceship Earth in record time there were absolutely no queues and we walked straight onto each one. At 7.00 we walked back to Mexico, picked up some snacks and laid claim to a lagoon-side spot ready for the fireworks. After numerous trips for more sustenance the show began and we were not disappointed it was everything I remembered and more. It was a spectacular show (although given the choice I still prefer Magic Kingdom must be the at-mouse-phere). By the time we left it had started to rain but hey it was warm rain!
Sunday We need a rest
We spent the morning firstly sleeping in. While DD manages to slumber until 10.15 I use the time to catch up on reading. After breakfast the gang play in the pool and I update the diary along with a bit of laundry what fun! Today is quite cloudy so I am hopeful of a trip to purchase trainers. I was right, the heavens opened and we went in search of footwear. The Reebok shop was doing a great deal and we managed to get 3 pairs for $70. We all decided that staying in for tea was a good idea and had a lovely BBQ, followed by more charades around the pool watching lightening in the distance. One of the nicest things about being on holiday is having nothing pressing or waiting to be done. So with a coffee in hand and feet up (and of course warm weather) it was an extremely beautiful evening.
