Hi,
We will be visiting So Cal for the first time next year (our Mardi Gras break, will be hopefully arriving late evening Friday Feb 28 and then flying back home Saturday March 8). I'm not sure yet how much of the arrival/departure days we will have available yet, have to wait for flight schedules to be released. So we may really only have 7-7 1/2 days.

The plan is to see San Diego during this trip also, since it's too cold to see Yosemite that time of year. I need to decide soon how many days we will spend in SD and Anaheim so I can book hotels. I've read tons of threads and general advice ranges from needing 3 days to 5 days in DL, but wanted to give you some specific info about our trip to see if you experts could help us narrow it a bit better :flower3:

Our kids will be 12, 8, and almost 5 at that time. As of now, they do not like coasters (at WDW I have to break off and do those by myself ) They also don't care to wait in lines to see characters, thanks goodness. We like parades, but are fine if we don't see any or maybe only one. Would probably like to see many of the shows, especially F! DH and I can certainly do commando style, but we will have to play it by ear as to how the kids' stamina will be, so we may be taking breaks.

So do you think 3-3 1/2 days would be enough to get most things done at a reasonable pace? Also, what are the crowds like then... I'm hoping it's still early for spring break crowds? I was planning on going to SD first, over that weekend, so we could have the majority of the days at DL during the week, seems like crowds would be lower then... does that sound right?

Thanks for any info!!!

Sounds like you need to check into the Southern California City Pass. For one price you get 1 day at Sea World San Diego, 1 day at Universal Studios, and 3 days with park hopper at Disneyland/California Adventure. My family and I have used these passes 3 times now and they work great and are a great money saver. They do have an option to add on the San Diego Zoo with the pass also, but be prepared for a lot of walking there, it really big.

Ride the Seals in SD is pretty cool too. It takes you on a tour around the city but it also goes out into the bay and takes you out to the seals in one of the old army boat/truck vehicles, kids might not be to hip on this one though, except seeing the seals part.

3 days should be alright at Disneyland that time of year, its considered there off season and the lines are shorter if there are no conventions in town that is and you stay away from the weekends.

So at least 2 days in SD, and 1 day Universal Studios, 3 days DL/CA thats 6 days covered. :thumbsup2 And yes, save Disneyland for last like you stated and go during the weekdays.

My brother lives in SD so I've done split trips between there and DLR a couple of times. Sat-Mon in San Diego, Tues-Friday at DLR would be great. You won't do *everything* either place but you can do a lot at both. I prefer to have a wider variety of experiences on a trip than seeing absolutely everything there is to offer at one place. Last April we did Saturday and Sunday in Beverly Hills, Monday-Thursday DLR and Friday-Sunday in San Diego. It was great.

Enjoy your trip.

If you care about entertainment at DLR - and you should - but not everyone does - then make sure your DLR visit covers at least two weekend days counting Friday.

Well, this complicates everything, lol! My kids will have to miss a day of school to add the Saturday. Have to think about that, but I would be so sad to miss fireworks and F!
