Tuesday 8/26 – Sunny no rain. Kids are chomping at the bit to get back to MK. Even though we have Crystal Palace ressies tomorrow, we decided beforehand this trip was going to be all about what we wanted to do only. Not having to run around and see it all. So we head over to MK, find out that the Main St. Bakery is really the only place in town to eat. Did NOT like the new renovations. When we pay I say to the CM – they ruined this place. She starts laughing and says she hears it all day long. Grab a table outside around the corner at the Plaza Restaurant, we are the only folks there. Get a FP for Space Mountain (again), do all of Tomorrowland, grab a FP for Pooh. A FP for Pooh is a requirement. Kids decide no Speedway this trip, they say it’s “lame”. Do not miss inhaling the gas fumes. We do Fantasyland, Liberty Square (it’s really too bad HOP is so unpopular). I shop in the Christmas Shoppe, get my plate and 2003 disc ornament. We have lunch at Pecos Bill’s. Somehow we always end up eating here when in the MK. Tried to get everyone into Columbia Harbor House but they would have none of it. TS Island is closed, because of impending storm I think. Catch the 3:00 parade behind Pecos Bill’s fence. We walked off Splash and walked behind the fence exactly as it started. Kids stood on stools, a little precarious, I’m surprised the CM’s didn’t make us get down, but nobody seemed to care. It was fun all the characters high fived us and stuck their faces right in my camera. That was the most interaction we ever got while watching a parade. Had my cinnamon glazed almonds finally in Adventureland. Went back to the resort to swim. My parents stayed behind today. We all headed over to ESPN where it was possible to watch the Yankees from the toilet (no comments Red Sox fans). My parents and kids loved this place, no wait to get seated either. After that we rented surrey bikes $20 for ½ hour. That is a once in a lifetime deal. Twice around Boardwalk, too much work going up hills. Watched Illuminations from bridge on boardwalk. Kids were fighting over who pedals, who steers. Not relaxing!

Wed. 8/26 – Sunny and hot again. We all go to Crystal Palace for 8:00 ressies. Our first time here, love it. Food is great. Breakfast Lasagna was good, but puffy french toast thingies were better. I noticed that seats were still available in the early am. Characters came very fast when we sat down, luckily we got all our stuff signed because they didn’t come back again. My DD who is a Pooh fanatic missed Piglet, I commented to DH that she was missing him (not very loud either). Piglet came right back when he saw her return to our table. Eeyore had a great time teasing the 13year old who thought he was too old for this stuff. The 10 year old also said – don’t bring my autograph book but once he was there he turns to me and says “Did you bring my book?” DD had a little Pooh backpack and white visor she got signed with fabric pen, came out really cute. Today was our day to finish up at the MK. Did POC, Splash, made it over to TSI (I noticed lots of trash and we were probably the 2nd boatload of the day), Riverboat, Barnstormer, DD did teacups with three adorable British girls and ended up with a loop and ½ on the train. Around 2:30 we ended up in the Kodak Exposition Hall in the back – don’t know why but my kids love posing in here. Bought the build a pins. Wish I had seen the picture pins earlier in the week. We went back to the pool. First time all week we had to leave because of storms. DS 13 is a HUGE Harrison Ford fan so we MUST make Indiana Jones at MGM. Last show is 6:15, we RUN over to MGM. I walk up to Prime Time and make 6:45 ressies for just the 5 of us. We barely make the PT ressies from IJ Show. The kids hate this place, hate the teasing. DS 13 is in bathroom when we get seated, I go out to find him and yell his name, the hostess starts shrieking his name – too funny. He looks like he wants floor to swallow him up. Our server is Uncle Dave, he is perfect, just the right combo of teasing and acting like a normal person in between. Dinner is delicious topped off with S’mores. DS 10 wants to ride RNR, DS 13 wants to go back to resort and DD 9 wants to see Fantasmic. I take oldest and youngest and walk into stadium about 1 hour before it starts. We get great seats, exact center about 10 rows up. After waiting about 55 minutes, DD starts crying she wants to leave, no way!! I decide to walk her to restroom because she always has to go at the most inopportune time. We run into DH and other DS just leaving because they were stuck in standing room. Fortunately we saved two seats for them in front of us. Another highlight of trip. Get off and some poor woman is standing in the middle of the exiting crowd with her stuff all over the walkway and two screaming kids. Everyone just tramples around them, We stop and ask if we can help. Seems her toddler sat on the grass and is getting bitten by fire ants. She is SCREAMING for her husband. We are trying to divert crowd and looking for water to pour on him. Her DH arrives and they dash to first aid. Now we spend 20 min. looking for bus back to BC, DUH there is no bus, boat only.

sounds like a lot of fun..........I got some fire ants in my shoes at the hot tub one year.....and didn't shake my shoes to get my feet back into them.......boy did it hurt and that was only three bites.....I feel so bad for the little kid.......thanks so much for your great report

Hi kallison,

Wow we were at the Beach Club at the same time :)

I agree the walk from the room to the elevators is very long  and I wasn't even at the very end of the hall!

I saw some families on the surrey bikes riding around the lake.. maybe it was you? Did you or your kids every play vollyball at stormalong bay in the afternoon?

Thanx for the trip report... it was a great surprise for the kids that their grandparents showed up!

Thanks for sharing your trip report. That was kind of you to stop and help that poor lady with her son. :D

I’m the type of person who is always butting in! Drives my family crazy. If I see a crying Mom looking for her kid, I have to organize a search.

Yes Cass, we did play volleyball. Our last afternoon there on the 29th, we got kicked out of the pool due to thunderstorms. Also a few other times during the week. I was laughing that last afternoon because this man was very seriously going over all the “rules”, what was out of bounds etc. I wanted to ask him what he did for a living, lighten up for crying out loud! I was staring at a girl and her Mom walking into the scaffolding entrance of the BC, thinking it was you! I don’t think it was. How did you like that scaffolding? I guess that is why the resort was full, I’m sure they didn’t book any of those rooms. I wasn’t pleased about the jackhammers our last day, otherwise I didn’t hear much going on.

Hi kallison :)

The concierge told me there was no one booked in the scaffolding section... however, when the big power outage hit the Eastern Seaboard there was many a stranded WDW guest who could not go home...

Disney gave the scaffolding rooms at NO CHARGE to affected families that could not go home and did not want to pay to continue to stay where they were staying...

He said many, many people moved to the scaffolding rooms for one night or two while the flights were getting back on schedule again.

That was pretty nice of them to do at no charge.

What about the Main St. Bakery changed- I don't know if I have ever eaten anything there??? I'll have to make a point of it. Did your 10 year old get autographs the whole week?? My son will be 10 when we go and still wants to get autographs.

They completely revamped the Main St. Bakery, kind of made it an extension of one of the stores. Not many tables to sit out now, it doesn’t feel like an old time bake shop on Main Street, USA. They got rid of all its character.

No my 10 year old son would only get autographs at character meals. I didn’t see many more characters than usual. We would enter Epcot from the International Gateway, by the time we got to Spaceship Earth the character bus would be leaving. It didn’t seem to me to hang around very long. My kids don’t like to wait in lines anyway, they will get an autograph if they stumble across characters. For instance we found Pooh and Tigger in the back of a UK shop all by themselves with no one around.

Nice report! Thanks again for posting. :)

It's interesting you mention the long halls at BC. We stayed there in 1999 and I remember there were so many turns, always another corner, etc. LONG walk from elevator. Don't remember much else about the room, in fact. But loved the pool and the short walk to WS.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing!!!
