8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

About the ressies - I was having trouble yesterday and emailed DU - but it looks like it was not DU's fault but Disney's. I was afraid they hadn;t made my payment:headache: (I sent an apology email). I did get on this morning and was able to get all of the excursions I wanted, including the parasail, the eco tour and Palo for dinner - :cool1:

Anyone know what night is pirate night for this sailing? I booked Palo for Nassau day.

Getting really excited now!!! What did everyone else book?

Coach - when are thinking of doing the tshirts? DD 14 asked me yesterday - funny - you would think a teenager would be so not into that, but she was like - oh that sounds like so much fun!!:lmao:

Pirate night is the night of Nassau. At least that is what I gathered from reading recent trip reports with dual CC days.

I figure I will put the word out the second week of June to do the orders. That will give me plenty of time to do them, and ship them in time for packing. :)

Thanks - I figured pirate night would be Nassau day. I made ressies for 6:00, and we have late seating, so we should be able to make some of the fun in the dining room for the kids and then hit the party on deck. That is what we did last year, and it worked out well.

Oh - yes - about the t-shirts, I do want 4 of them. We will be in Europe from June 18-July1, so I don;t want to miss the ordering. Let me know when you have it ready!!

I'm not sure if I've posted in this thread before. I recently changed my user name from gupsmom to 5lilfish.

We are booked on this cruise and the 3 day following it (Aug 21). My kids do not know about the 3 day. We're getting off the ship on the 21st, driving to the airport and picking up our 20 yr old niece (another surprise for my kids and my niece's first cruise) and then we're going to ask the kids if we should turn around and get back on the ship?! The 21st is also my 2nd child's 10th b-day. she's all worried that we'll be travelling home on her b-day...little does she know.

Anyway...for this Double Dip cruise, it's me (Jess), DH (Tom), DS (11), DD (turning 10), DD (8), and twin DD's (14 months). We have early dining.

What a pest making cruise plans at midnight today. The DCL system gets bogged down way too easily. It took my 90 minutes to finally get our nursery time booked. I get to go through that all over again in 4 days when I make the plans for our 3day. Oh well...it will be worth it in 90 days!!

Very cool...surprises are fun, aren't they...

Welcome aboard!

I have added you to the list, and puts us almost at 7% of the ships capacity!

Well it's official, My oldest DD graduated yesterday from Salve Regina University! What a great day it was indeed. I am just glad it was outside so I had a really good excuse to wear sunglasses and nobody could see my watery eyes! :cool2: :sad1: I was sad, happy, sad, happy...over and over! The biggest emotion I felt was a sincere pride I didn't know existed! This morning at 6 AM, she left Boston for Beijing China, which set a whole new set of emotions going. I have found today to be very difficult to concentrate on anything! Anyhow, planning this cruise that she still has no clue about is probably the best diversion from those issues.:confused3

89 days and counting

Just made our shore ressies - :cool1:

Massages all around (DH, FIL, and of course me) at CC on Tuesday while DD checks out the kids club; then snorkel gear for 2 days. All of us are off to Atlantis on Wed. I may add a Ray Feeding on Thurs - has anyone tried that? Just wondering if it's worth it??? :rolleyes1

I haven;t tried the Ray Feeding, and was kind of wondering myself. Even with the extra day, it is so hard to choose!

Coach - wow - Beijing - how exciting!

We didn't plan to do any excursions... We'll spend a week at WDW before the cruise and just want to relax. You think we will get bored?

Just remember in 4 days you won't have the crowd from the Magic online at the same time.

And :welcome: Your B2B plans sound like fun.

Hard to believe we are under 90 days. I was up last night with everyone trying for certain reservations. I was surprised that I could get brunch so easily, but not the teen excursion for Monday. I guess I'll just keep trying.

Did many of you get teen excursion?

Coach...I can't imagine my children graduating and moving on. I will cry like crazy. :sad1: Like many parents on here, I feel so lucky to really enjoy being with my children.

Happy Planning Everyone.

I booked my 14 Y/O, but for the second CC day.

Yep, tough to take. Now I am sitting here tracking her flight to China. This is the first time she has gone anywhere other than school without one of us.:sad1:

Yep, she took two semesters of Chinese and this counts as three credits for her grad work she will start in September. I am sure it's exciting for her, but I have NO nails left... :scared:

I booked the 13 Y/O and the almost 15 Y/O for the second day too. I still think there is something wrong with the web site.

I guess all the scout trips is helping me for when the big day comes and they fly out of here. Will you get a chance to go visit her whle in China?

Oh, it's not that bad. She'll be back in 2 weeks. But with all the problems over there, between political issues and the recent earthquakes, I am plenty uneasy, believe me. It's just a "study abroad" program. And you will get to meet her in 89 days too, although she don't know it yet. :)

Willem,

We'll probably wish we had additional downtime since we're also going to WDW for the previous week. The massages at CC are to help get the knots out of very tired legs (we tend to go from morning to night at the parks). The trip to Atlantis is just because it looks so cool.
We stayed on board in the Bahamas last trip and did get a bit bored. We saw a movie and played shuffelboard. Unfortunately, we couldn't do any onboard shopping because stores are closed when in port.

Just a heads up, you'll be doing a ton of walking at the Atlantis too. I was surprised how big the place is, we will also be returning there this time too. The kids really enjoyed their time there. The day was just enough.

The last couple of trips to WDW I took a pedometer. I was shocked to see that we averaged over 10 miles a day. Not bad for some of us going from sofa bunnies to major walkers. Felt good though.

Willem -

No - I don;t think you'll be bored, and actually our first cruise, that's pretty much what we did. This time, though, hubby decided he really wanted to do a lot of things at CC. The Nassau day we will likely stay on board most of the day and just chill out. I know DD will want to shop at the straw market, but i figure that should take all of an hour :)

Hi Everyone!
Wow, we had a long weekend up here (Victoria Day on Monday to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday....so nice to be part of the Commonwealth!) and I couldn't believe how much I missed!

Coach Rick, looks like your secret is out and we all know what a softie you are! And how exciting about your DD going to Beijing! That's such an incredible experience for her although it's nervewracking for you and your wife! But she'll be home before you know it and telling you all these wonderful stories about her trip. Lucky girl getting 2 major trips this year!

Looks like there will be a lot of kids with lovely surprises in store for them on this cruise. 5lilfish, what a great idea to surprise your kids like that! I would love to see their faces when you ask them about turning back. What a great birithday gift for your DD; she'll never forget this birthday!

Willem, I'm probably signing my kids up for parasailing and the banana boat ride at Castaway Cay, but otherwise, we're relaxing too. We can always talk about DLP while everyone else is on their excursions; I'm so looking forward to my short stay there in October. Actually, you're a big part of why I decided to go. I had been thinking about DLP anyway because I met a few people at at DISmeet who had been, but then when you started talking about it and then with my cousin's wedding taking place in France, that made me decide to go for it! So thanks for that!

Disneymama, can't think of anything better than massages on CC!

And disnutz, my DD14 wants a T shirt too! I was surprised at her answer too when I asked her, and she was really enthusiastic too. I was glad too that she doesn't think she's too old to do things like this. Kids grow up so fast these days and it's hard to believe that time has gone so quickly.

Also, where are you going in Europe? Just wondering because as I've mentioned before, I'm headed to France for a week in October.

I know - you just can't tell about these teenagers sometimes! I do really think that my DD and DS, seeing my absolute love of Disney, and not caring about what anyone else thinks, helps to allow her to just have fun.

I am heading to London, Paris and Berlin for 2 weeks. My DD's school was going, so i decided she could go, but only if I did too. :rotfl: I am a little nervous, but can't wait. I'll fill you in with all the details!! I'll be the one on CC with the drink of the day in my hand laying on th beach, while DH and DS run around like crazy men!
