8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Lifeboat drill is at 4pm. Sailaway party starts around 4:30pm.

My prior DIS meets were held at 3pm at the Promenade Lounge. Its a convenient location and its indoors with plenty of room. It lasts about a half hour and gives everyone a chance to head back to their rooms before the lifeboat drill.

We're staying at the Radisson at the port the day before so we should be at the port before noon.

We can definitely have a mini-meet at the port as well. We'll be wearing Coach Rick's shirts. :cool1:

Man, you guys are posting fast.....(I'm half watching the Mets play the Reds).

There was one cruise where I forgot to pack DD's underwear. And it gets better. I actually checked off on my packing list that I had packed her underwear. Talk about a senior moment.....lesson learned....pack the item first THEN check it off the packing list and not the other way around.

DCL has great sailaway parties. Last year we got ours in right before a thunderstorm rolled in.

My cell phone ringtone is the DCL ship horn. Sometimes I just play the ringtone when I need my DCL fix.

I think we are getting kind of excited!!!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Ok - so let's set it - promenade Lounge - 3:00. We'll be there.

I am thinking around noon at the port as well, unless we are just too excited and have to leave early!! So we'll see you there!!

Okay, I had to move a spa appointment but I couldn't miss the Dismeet! 3pm in the Promenade Lounge it is!

I was thinking around 11:30 - 12 noon re arriving at the port. The last time we were on the Magic, they opened the doors just around 12:15 pm. Plus I have to check-in because I'm a non-American and sometimes there's a lineup. I don't mind waiting in the terminal. It just adds to the excitement!

Coach Rick, won't the lifeboat drill reassure your DD that should anything happen, we're in very good hands? I find it very reassuring that we would be amply protected and that there are emergency provisions. Plus those lifeboats looked so sturdy and everything was so organized that I felt better knowing that DCL had taken such care to minimize the chaos and panic. But I know that the drill will remind her that emergencies do occur so maybe it doesn't matter about all the reassurance!

Ok, knowing her, she will easily come up with something like; "If this big boat can sink, then these little ones don't stand a chance" :lmao: the excitement in our house is definitely building. Now I gotta print those shirts when they aren't around...

Rick, at this point I don't know how you are doing it keeping it away from the kids this wonderful news. I'd be ready to jump out of my skin. I don't think I could do it, but I am so excited for you.

Once again, thanks for the shirts Rick. Can't wait to see them. We missed having matching shirts last year. It just wasn't the same.

Do you know where the group list is?

3 PM Promenade Lounge has been where the meets were held in the past. It seems to work well.

Last year we rented a car from National. It took my DH forever to get back to the port. (This worked out well since I was leaving one job and accepting another while waiting in the cruise terminal. I hope I don't have to do any of that this year. It was too nutty.) We were part of group 8 or 9, but we got in about 15 min. after the doors opened. It was after the first wave of people but just before the busses got there. It was really nice.

I don't know either. I guess the memory of the last time I did this to them is what keeps me able. Those faces are ingrained into my mind!

No problem. It will be fun to see all those lime green shirts around. :)

Just updated it one more (maybe last) time before we turn the lights out.:thumbsup2

Boy, I am going to miss reading and posting with you guys on a regular basis. I think we need another post someplace to keep in touch after. It has been such a blast meeting you all on this thread. :grouphug:

Tomorrow starts "boys week out". My DS(18) and I have been spending the third week of July together at a timeshare I have in Newport RI for the past 5 years. Since he is 18 now and works 3 jobs I thought maybe he didn't want to do this anymore, but he really looks forward to it. I cherish this time with him like you wouldn't believe! Now we can do some other stuff, like rent scooters and roam around. We also plan on fishing in the ocean. He is funny, he said, "you have to respect the fish...catch and release". :lmao: God, he cracks me up!:lmao:

Can you believe one month from now we will be half way into our cruise! Nassau Day! Geesh, that invokes a couple emotions.:) :sad1: But mostly :)

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to quickly say hi and introduce myself!!!

We, my DH (Andy) and me (Jennifer), are going to be traveling childless for our 10 year anniversary with you.

I didn't think I would be taking another cruise so soon after my last so I've been negligent reading the boards until today. I'm looking forward to getting to know you with what little time is left! :scared1:

Welcome! I look forward to meeting you on the boat and hearing about the Westbound Repo cruise!

Cyndi

Hey frozenmickey!
Glad to see another Canadian onboard! And I'd love to hear about the Yukon too..we don't meet too many people from the territories down here. What a great way to celebrate your 10th anniversary!

Coach Rick, I was thinking the same thing as Dizzyworld...how on earth do you keep the cruise a secret from your kids especially when you're churning out t shirts???!! I keep talking about the cruise to the kids so much that I'm sure they're tuning me out now because they're so sick of me talking about it.

I noticed that the departure time from Nassau is 7:30pm again. Sea-and-Ski, it is frustrating when they keep changing the times when you've made plans. I was planning to stay onboard in Nassau myself but I remembered that you had to actually cancel your excursion plans when they said that we would be leaving at 5:30pm. Hopefully, you'll be able to go on your excursion now.

Welcome Frozenmickey.....I, too, would like to hear how your repo cruise went. How wonderful to take a cruise with just the two of you.

Coach Rick....I agree with Lyndasilk....I could not possibly be making t-shirts and still be keeping the cruise a secret. Physically impossible for me.

That's great you get some one-on-one time with your DS and do all those fun activities. I truly cherish that my kids love to do all the fun things I like to do like snorkeling/skiing/fishing/surfing. Its great to share those things with your kids.

We can keep this thread going even after the cruise. My 2006 meet thread is still going strong. We keep promising each other that we'll do a reunion cruise.

Lyndasilk.....this constant changing of the departure time in Nassau is just killing me. I don't trust that the change will stick. Not worth getting our hopes up. I was able to book one of the DCL snorkeling excursions instead.

Lynda Silk and Ski-and-Sea --- thanks for the warm welcome!

The repo cruise was a trip of a lifetime. We went with our DS(5) and DD(3) and they had so much fun. We went on DCL excursions at every port so there was so much to see and do. The weather even cooperated the whole time!

I don't think another cruise could compare... well except maybe one without kids. ;)

Welcome Frozen mickey!!

Ok ladies and gents, I cannot eblieve we are so close!!! I cannot wait. How about you? What is everyone doing to prepare? Any last minute shopping?

Yeah it's really coming close now. Especially since we'll be in WDW from 8/9.
Went to the bank to order some USD, now only have to wait till the big date is there. :)
Were in DLP this weekend, had a nice time altough the weather wasn't that great. But summer season in always fun.

Willem, it is really close for you then since you'll be in WDW on Aug 9! Lucky you! Did you see the Enchanted fireworks at DLP? Were they as spectacular as in the video?

I have started organizing my clothes and getting the kids ready for the cruise. No last minute shopping because I fthink I've been shopping for months now picking things up here and there! My DD is going to Washington, DC with her dad this weekend for 4 days so I have to help her get organized for that too, but it seems completely overshadowed by the cruise! I can't believe it's getting so close either! It's so exciting!

frozenmickey, the repo cruise sounded wonderful; what a wonderful experience for you and your family! We'll definitely have to hear more about it at the mini-dismeet.

Ski-and-Sea, I was glad to hear that you were able to book a Disney snorkelling excursion! It's odd how they kept flip flopping between the different times.

Only 22 more sleeps for us as we are heading to WDW on the 13th! :yay: I don't usually pack until right before since I tend to forget what I've already packed (have to do it all in one go). But we've been so busy with baseball that I don't think I'm really ready! No tournament this weekend so I think I'll go do some last minute shopping.

We're also arriving (at POR) on the 9th. :cool1:

As for packing... as long as we have passports and a credit card, everything else I remember is gravy. [translated this means "I haven't started yet"] :)

I was a bit dissapointed with the Enchanted Fireworks, but it was still a nice show. Just not that spectacular compared to the ones in the American parks.
Need to do some shopping here too. Need more summer wear.

I am so excited! My husband is *so* ready for vacation he is checking into bumping up our departure to WDW by two days! So far the air tickets are no problem (good bc we used miles). He is checking AKL but we'd stay anywhere.

We have our own business with about 50 employees. We are definitely ready to get out of town!

:dance3:

This means I have to be packed by the 11th! :scared1:
