8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC

Hazel and two of her sisters went to visit their cousin in the hospital yesterday in North Jersey, by the time they arrived home last evening their cousin had taken a turn for the worse. Hazel just received a call letting her know her cousin just passed away.

Hazel was very close with this cousin, she is so glad she went up to see her one last time.

For those that are looking into flights to LA for the cruise it is cheaper to fly into Orange County airport or Burbank ....Flying into LAX is sometimes a little more expensive ....I know it is early for this tip but something to keep in the back of your mind ...

Ontario and Long Beach are also alternatives. Especially Long Beach because you can fly Jet Blue.


I think we'll do a one way car rental and drive down from the SF Bay Area.

Actually, living in the Pacific NW is close... just no moose! In the center of the state here, we have to beware when the cougars are fighting the huskies!

Wow it is so cool to see all that wildlife you get in Arizon & Alaska. The most we see around here is the occasional rabbit or squirrel. All the times we've been to NH or ME, I've never even seen a moose!

... here I am... seated and ready to pounce on 1300 when - wouldn't you know it... the door bell rings and the gas company repair guy is at the door. And now that the gas meter is repaired ... I find 1300 has passed. RATS! Oh well... it IS only the 1000 mile markers that really count, eh? Especially the 10,000 markers. Well... For my humor I practice on the 100 markers too. <chuckles>

Thanks for the heads-up. If we do this, I'm going to have to come up with some savings and air-fare is a definate area that I want to spend as little as possible on!

Actually you had it right the first time. Summering (is that a word) in Alaska ON DCL is "the ticket". I know it seems sometimes more like a fantasy than a reality, but one day we will be able to Summer in Alaska and we will be on that ship.

Hey I know we are still missing Lisa and Susan. Any heads up on them? I had been thinking about Dobelover (Sue) and Videogal1(Lynda and Cash). Anyone seen them around the boards? They used to both do DCL so frequently its surprising.

Stacy--where is Vicki? How come she isn't speaking to us? Are you the spokesperson for the group? The hostage negotiator?

Well....

... it seems we have a big fire raging about 150 yards from my home in the hills here in Westlake Village/ THousand Oaks. We get something called Santa Ana Wind conditions where we get very high velocity dry winds - and tonight we have relatively high winds. So.... at the moment they have not evacuated us - and we are watching the flames from the aerial news copters (in HD). My older daughter is a little worried but we're ready to evacuate if necessary.... but she knows we are safe and ready to leave if necessary. I can see the flames from an angle through the trees about a block away. We have 8 MPH winds with 20 MPH gusts according to the news people ... and NORTH is not threatening to us - however we can see on news copter footage sparking and spreading of the fire... I imagine that is what the firemen on the ground are fighting - and we can see the fire trucks stationed at the edge of the homes in a line facing the fire. They are saying the fire copters are off refueling now.

Our Samoyed had a good hoot howling with the fire engines as they ran by in a parade today.
