Sad reality hit today

Visiting with my family today to celebrate my nephew's girlfriend's birthday. We started talking about our next family reunion. Our reunions are a big deal with over 120 people in attendance (I know that probably freaks out Enna and the others in the WPP). It's my dad's side of the family and my grandma had 8 kids, hence the big reunions. The next one falls to my dad's clan to plan, we rotate around each time.

We have them ever other year over the Labor Day weekend....can you see where this is going? Well, the last reunion was 2006, so guess when the next one is?

I totally forgot about the reunion when planning this TOAL. In addition to myself and my son, my parents are booked too! So now, either I miss the reunion or I cancel the cruise. It just makes me sick. I don't want to do either.

My family is great. I have the ABNORMAL family in which parents are still married, sibblings don't hate each other, no thieves, drug dealers, murderers etc. Even within the extended family, every gets along. In the 20+ years of having these reunions we've never had any fights or cops called (except for being to loud at night).

But my new family here is great too. And the one cruise I've always wanted to take has been TPC. I suppose I could switch to the May Repo, but then I wouldn't cruise with all of you.

I've got plenty of time to make a decsion so I'm not going to do anything right now. I realy don't want to cancel the TOAL. I have a feeling my parents will probably cancel though.

UGH!!!! I can't even think about it anymore right now.

Just put it off a day or so ....youll be back in time ...LOL

you better be on the Panama Canal Cruise ....or your chiken bones wont work no more ...LOL

Send Mr. Enna & the Enna-Lets into this one alone. Claim to "feel a blister coming on" if need be, or a pressing need to go to the Tiki Room alone.

Thank goodness for the flu mist for kids!!!!

Apparently though that bronchial stuff that went around here in MD last month was immune to flu shots though...

And i had that for almost 3 weeks....

The nurses in my Dr's office (who also get the shots) were getting sick too.

Ahh....I only got in on the last of the 50th celebration. We didn't go in '05....went in March '06. They were still decorated and all for the 50th, but I don't think they were doing as many special things.

One of the reasons I had posed the question about taking kids out of school a million pages ago was for this reason. Brooke will miss the first 5 days of school. We have made the decision that the cruise was booked first and well the experience and family can't replace that.

This decision has not come lightly and I can't tell you how many times we changed our minds in the process. Thanks for reading this. Letting others know can only help me 1. to do the things I need to because most of it is on me.

If she wont be starting school until September, I wouldn't even register her until after this cruise. She wont miss any days that way.

Oh Monica what a pickle . Of course we'd say choose the TOAL, choose the TOAL, but that wouldn't be fair of us. (But choose the TOAL). Could they possibly be convinced to postpone it by one little weekend. One eentsy weentsy weekend?

Putting my thinking cap on here - what about moving the reunion up to Memorial Day Weekend? I'm sure most would understand that the TOAL is probably just that - once in a lifetime - and would be willing to accomodate it.

Oh, Monica....what a tough decision.

Since your part of the family is doing the planning, can they announce a date change NOW, so you can possibly do both? Maybe send everyone a "save this date for 2008" postcard announcing the alternate date so everyone has time to plan accordingly? I know it's a slight change in tradition, but it's the only thought I had to help you have your cake & eat it too.

mine will be starting senior year and spohmore year.. I can't bring myself to let them miss 4 days of school plus all the pre school tuff like band and crosscountry and football.. so they won;t be going.. oh well they will have to have a TOAL with their own families later in life..

Not only does a teaspoon of sugar help the medicine go down, it also gets rid of the hiccups!!!

Angelina came home from school one day and told me that, so the next time I had the hiccups I tried it and it worked. Just did it again a few minutes ago and the hiccups stopped immediately.
