Well... since I still have this horrible head cold -I've been doing some "ketchup" rather than real work today! Now I have to go get DS7 and take him to Irish Step Dance class so before I go here is another "Blast from the Past" (mostly yesterday!) multi-post.
p. 48, paragraph 8 of The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide:
"Resistance is useless!" bellowed the guard.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a few things to say on the subject of towels. A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. ....." (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter Three)"

And I thought I was the towel-stealer on this cruise?

Cool, cool, cool! I love those books!!! For some reason, most of the folks I know don't read neat stuff like this and if I quote something like this they look at me like I have 2-heads :rotfl2:

When they were young what did / do your kids (or you) want to be when they grow / grew up?
DS7 has been saying since he was 4 that he is going to be an artist. He also wants to design machines/building/etc (Engineer). About a year ago he found out about Imagineering, so he changed it to being an Imagineer and an Artist. He will be 8 in two months and has had the same plan for nearly 4 years now ....
Good Morning Everyone :wave2:
There will be no way I can ketchup. I feel guilty. Now I have a confession to make.............I can't deny this any longer because it is becoming a reality but boy can life be tough sometimes.

My DH just signed a lease yesterday for a apartment in Chicago. I am going to try and move to Chicago by the beginning of summer. I have been in this house for 16 years and so much clutter to go through and hurry up to get this house ready to sell, court with ex will not be fun. DD starting high school alot needs to be done there. My DD has been in the same school district her whole life.

One of the reasons I had posed the question about taking kids out of school a million pages ago was for this reason. Brooke will miss the first 5 days of school. We have made the decision that the cruise was booked first and well the experience and family can't replace that.

This decision has not come lightly and I can't tell you how many times we changed our minds in the process. Thanks for reading this. Letting others know can only help me 1. to do the things I need to because most of it is on me.

Good luck with all the work - but Welcome to Chicago. Are you going to be in the city itself or the suburbs? I am fairly certain that the city schools don't go back until after labor day ....

OH and just so's you's know's, I'm bad with names. Takes me a while to put names to faces. Most of you will just become "DUDE!" for the first few days. And from across the ship, you all will become "DUDE!" ;)

Me too! I'm terrible at names and faces. What is really bad is that I live in the town where I grew up and occasionally run into people who know me - unfortunately, I usually have no idea who they are!

That's all for now folks. After step dance, I have less than 2 hours to get dinner together, make sure any homework is done and get to choir practice, so I probably won't be back until after 10pm tonight (if I'm not just collapsing into bed...)

Just checking in to say Hi! :wave2:

I was lying on the couch all day yesterday with some kind of stomach virus so I never did log on. While I was lying there, I kept thinking about the pages & pages of posts passing me by. I tried to read the last 10 pages or so to get an idea of what's going on, but it's futile (or useless :confused3 ).

Anyway I missed saying Happy Birthday to Jeff & Anthony yesterday so....Happy Belated Birthday Jeff & Anthony!!!

And according to some posts it appears to be Rebecca's today so....
Happy Birthday Rebecca!

Still 14 pages behind...
I think I'm channeling Caroline right now...

Both DW and I do not drink. Also we both have Canon Rebels to record all of the action for those who forget.

Um, no. What happens in TPC stays in TPC.

I guess that I am going to have to teach you guys how to copy the chat history. ;) Last cruise's chats were hysterical...even if you weren't there. :rotfl2:

You mean there is a permanent record????? :crazy2:

Oh no. What happens in chat stays in chat. Well, except for the stuff we bring to the board, right Stakey?
:rotfl: :rotfl:

Luckily, our room is way aft....so hopefully I won't need a designated walker.

Oh Mary, I hadn't thought about that. We'll have to travel together to and fro the Deck 2 forward sea-going-pr-chick-ninja wing. Safety in numbers ya know!

Excellent Crash-ing Enna. And Yes, we can definitely knit that on the TOAL! :rotfl: No Prob.

Crashing!! I love that this is a verb now! Well, I guess it always has been a verb, but you get what I mean. Right?

Please let's not drag Christopher Cross into our sing-a-longs. I beg you.

JUMP! JUMP! :hyper:
Oh, sorry that was Kris Kros.

Saaaaaiiiilllling takes me away to where I'm going, do-do.

Morning everyone:goodvibes
There was a funny article in the Orland Sentinel yesterday about Judys area Windemere. Her area is very upscale and it appears someone played a prank on the residents by dropping chickens and rabbits on the street. The story went on about how the residents were woken up by the chickens crowing (I'm sure they meant Roosters) and how they were chasing the chickens and dodging them with their expensive cars. The chickens were in the trees and they didn't round up all the rabbits as they said they were too hard to wrangle. I see lots of rabbits around for easter. They only pics they had were of the chickens in cages. Too bad someone didn't have a cam for that!:rotfl2:

What no mention of the crazy lady with 50 squirrels??

Forgot to quote, but re: lullaby. I always sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" to DSs. I'm a lousy singer and that is about all I could manage, but if you sing it slowly it really is a lullaby! Besides, wouldn't it be a cute story if they ever make the Major League?? (Disclaimer: I am not crazy-vicariously-live-through-my-kids sports mom!)

And finally (for now):

BIP - I read all of your posts, I just can't respond to every one of them. Thank you for the info about booking HoJos, I'm going to call them today!

I finally got these scanned. This is the DL/DCA Dream FastPass. It is on a gray rope lanyard and the cards have little tabs on them that the CM removes as the FP.

I know only Swabbies are supposed to drool, but........I want one so bad I think I may be "salivating". Is that a more Wench-ish term for drool???

OH NO! I hope everyone feels better soon!

littlehayhay.....welcome to the boards Hazel! BTW....am I the only one who keeps thinking of Dwayne from What's Happening every time I see Hazel's username? "Hey, hey hey!"

No, you are not the only one. I've made peace with it by just applying the intonation to the username.

:welcome: Is that an open invitation??? DH and I might consider going for the 5 day too. So what if we never get to retire and we have to send our Social Security Checks to DCL directly.:lmao: :lmao:

Paula, How many are there planning on doing the 5 day. I so busy trying to scroll, I miss everyting important.:confused3 .

I can tell you I honestly don't know.......If our website was up it would be easier. (hey Lisa???) I posted a couple of times on the 5 day thread--but for some reason I don't have time to check it very often:confused3
I know that Andy is planning on it and there it seems like there are some more. Sorry I don't have much info for you.:)

Not only is it Texas it is a Dallas exchange. My DS lives in Dallas and has a 214 area code.

Wellllll...... tell him to tell everyone in Dallas to quit calling me! ;)

And if we drink enough, we might just knit one heck of a scarf before the TOAL is done!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Karen, we will let you know how it works for WDW when we go this summer. Being a WDW virgin, I have been using the advice of TGM which is sound advice when applied to DL. The combination of the two of them will hopefully allow us to see as much as possible without to much waiting. We will let you know. And yes I have been going to DL since I was a kid and never enjoyed it as much as the last 6 months while we have been using RideMax.

I've been using TGM since 2003 when it first opened for business. Since then, if I followed the advice, I've waited less than 10 minutes, no matter what the season or what the attraction, unless, of course, it was for a scheduled show type thing. Of course, there have been times when the people I was with caused me to deviate from our plan and I waited a whole frustrating agonizing 15 minutes for POTC but since it was POTC, I tolerated it - barely. :rolleyes2 ;)

Roger - I'm glad to hear about your experience with TGM philosophy & Ridemax for DL. The more I think about the cruise, the more I want to take more than a day or two to visit DL beforehand and I'm glad to know of something that'll help with the planning.

I'm so with you M. My DH is another lurker. I think he just checks in to see what I might be saying about him. He is getting a little concerned about my time on the DIS. He's unleashed a new strategy. He has started timing me, and feels its only fair if I devote equal time to "other personal interests" if you KWIM. :rotfl:

"other personal interests" - hhhmmm, like martial arts and fudge?:scratchin

Oh, and
:cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake:

They give a sticker and a button.
I'm definitely looking forward to it again this year. Usually we go once or twice in between, but lately we haven't.

Cake like this, maybe
DisneylandStaceysBirthday015.jpg

ANd this picture shows the sticker and the button

Very nice there Stacey, looks like you both are having a great time, love the cakes!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your well wishes everyone! DW is still a little upset but it was for the best. :worried:

On a happier note, what's with the thread? I go away for two days and it's down to 5th position!?!?!?

Now to ketchup on 130 pages of excitement :faint:

Actually, we are currently 3rd in number of posts made on active threads.

being that close do you ever go to the derby? someday i get there

Honestly, I have been to Churchill Downs 3 times--2 to watch the horses and once to work a concession stand for DS football team. Instead we do what most folks around here do we have Derby parties. There is usually 30-50 people mostly neighbors that show up and we spend the day picking our horses out of pots.

It is a fun time to be in our city. Festivities start out 2 weeks before with Thunder over Louisville--(supposed to be one of the largest fire work displays in the US) and attracts 300-800,000 depending on weather. Our store is located 3 blocks from the river so we have never seen the full firework show.
It is a very long, but fun day for us. We can park about 90 cars in our parking lot and we have almost 6000 customers that day.

There are lots of fun activites in the 2 weeks. Louisville's day was friday for KY Oaks, but that has grown so much in popularity that more folks are going Thursday.

Hopefully you will be able to join in our festivities sometime.
