You have left your dear friend in good hands....
Just a little update on our lives...
Jeff had his appt this morning and they did give him the shot in his shoulder but did not give him an Rx for anything for inflammation like I'd hoped. They also scheduled him with a physical therapist but it's at a local gym (the one we had a 3yr membership but it ended in Dec 2006 LOL) and I'm not sure if the therapist there accepts insurance. So this may end up being costly.![]()
Meanwhile I have to contact my dr ASAP because I have something very scary going on right now. VERY scary- like bad scary (not like pregnant scary- that can't happen anyway! LOL)
Any prayers you can throw my way would be MUCH appreciated.![]()
Morning,
And I thought I was talkative! Will be going on this cruise next year too. Haven't posted here (other than to say hello to Mary Rose, Tina, Andy, etc) on this thread but saw that it was probably time to post.
Before I went on our first cruise (and first visit to the US) last year, I met the most fantastic people here and on the other board, too many to mention, who made my whole holiday an amazing experience. Everyone was so so nice to us. For that reason we decided to go on the med cruise and then to book the Panama cruise too, and we are so looking forward to it. I rang and got my rate for HOJO yesterday and was thrilled because living in Ireland, there is no way on earth I would be able to get local insider information as I do from knowing all these people.
I don't know who sent that PM to you guys yesterday, and I know that plenty more don't either (they have said it publically) but it is certainly working towards a "Them versus Us" culture, which would be a terrible shame. Rather than selling the positives of another site, it is making you doubt the people there, and that is not right.
MR, you said "they are trying to get a rise", I promise you it is not "they". Some want to post here, some want to post there and some like me want to post in both, but it should be a choice, not a directive, by anyone.
I want to be able to hold my head up and say hello to everyone and meet like minded people who pay a lot of money to enjoy the short amount of time we get off each year, not to worry about the " what group are you with" scenario.
I currently post and plan on a different site, because it suits me, and that's what it's about. Choice.
Now to those that know me, it's quite short really!![]()
Have a nice Wednesday!![]()

Speaking of REPO men...
We were on NCL this past Christmas and were chosen to play "Family Feud". They asked each of us what we do for a living. The crew member was not American, but I don't remember what her nationality was right now....either way, she didn't understand English all that well. She got to my dad, and he said he was a "Repo Man". She didn't understand, and asked him to repeat it...about three times before my mom stomped on my Dad's foot. Then he told the truth and said "I'm retired" and my mom (who thought she was whispering, but forgot that dad was holding the microphone) said "More like retarded".......the audience thought it was hysterical....I was ready to slink slowly off the stage........
BTW...he used to sell insurance.

You know what...
... I had to check my junk mail folder as I labeled that sender as unwelcome junk. Normally I would never have seen it as in a few days time that folder automatically dumps everything in the trash.
And now having seen it I must say this email was rather infantile - if not the rant of someone who is fustrated. That sort of attitude is EXACTLY WHY a forum with basic standards of decorum has merit. And the opposite with no standards deserves the audience it has... which for years has been a tiny fraction of what the DIS enjoies. Most forums I have attended or lurked through appear to have basic standards of conduct. That's what a forum monitor engages in - and I for one appreciate the idea of order.
I for one prefer to live with civil rules - and I am NOT seeking an opportunity to have the freedom to make comments where people wince. I prefer the company of decent folks. I've already seen that folks seeking a chance to make uneditable remarks are the sort who just want to be what they cannot be here. And if that happens to fool a few decent folks into going over there - well then we will have to do without their company here for now until they realize the truth of the other site.
So really... It's all about adverse selection. We gradually weed out those who are less then civil. The DIS has a public review penalty point protocol in place when an entity is being disciplined for misconduct. Now that is intelligent and fair (see the sticky at the top of the cruise meet page). Adverse selection to me means that eventually the group with no order will probably have most of the fustrated left over rejected entities in their population. Can you imagine a road without laws or a business environment without a legal framework? I prefer self governed order to anarchy.
There is great merit in our nurturing a community of the sort encouraged here. The charitable work that Lisa has lavished is clearly a passonate nobel exercise... without a doubt. And one which I hold high and give thanks for to Lisa and all the other moderators. Frankly, I have seen very very little restriction tossed about - and never have I cocked an eyebrow over any moderators' actions as if they were themselves inapporpriate. I have seen about 5 instances where someone began to post publicly (once privately via PM) in an inappropriate manner where a moderator stepped in to offer guidance. THAT has been a very welcome gesture - and the offending party toned it down or LEFT.
I don't feel any need to spout comments in an unregulated environment. We enjoy tremendous freedom here - and it works. I have never been admonished for inapporpriate conduct - (or at least I don't recall being censored here) and if I draw an admonishment I imagine it would be well deserved. AND I would respect the guidance offerred should I be guilty. Because, if the roles and situation were reversed I know that I would benefit... directly or indirectly. And that is the beauty of having the potential for guidance and order in our discussions.
OK... I think I've spouted enuf dribble for the moment. I dare say that I've been circular - maybe even anal retentive in my comments. For that I am sorry... but the bandwidth I'm wasting is ample in volume - and all I really want to say is LISA... we appreciate your efforts. You've helped heal one of my dear friends on the DIS when they were ruthlessly attacked... and your efforts then were of incalculable value. YOU have likely healed and sheltered many other souls from ill conceived flames and misconduct. And remember that when some silly person who cannot see our merits has the gall to complain as we've seen ... well... just remember for every ONE of them complainers you have dozens who you helped directly over here and several HUNDRED if not a thousand plus over here who give silent thanks for your efforts.
Frankly, the source of this email rant might very well be one of the silly people you had to offer guidance to - it might even be someone who had to guided OFF semipermanently from the DIS. THAT would not surprise me. SO ... lets just ignore them. OK? Let them spout their remarks from the shadows all they want for I am not listening to them.I'm really just chuckling as usual....
OK... enuf of that fer now...
Here Lisa ... this award is for you...

This is DS9's week for farm chores at school. He has to be at school at 7:30(!) to help Farmer Steve with the farm. He thinks it's a blast. I think getting the boys to school in two shifts is a bit of a pain. Today, he had the same jobs as yesterday - feed the cow, two pigs, six sheep, and 50-70 chickens, then water all the plants in the greenhouse. Farmer Steve feeds the llama (maybe it bites) According to DS9 - feeding the animals is way more fun than watering.
If feeding the animals is so much fun, how come I have trouble getting him to feed the dogs? Huh? Huh?
Tomorrow DH has lasik - again. He got lased about 6 months ago. His vision went from about 20/1200 to 20/40. He's pretty jazzed. But, the doc isn't satisfied. Want's another shot at getting him to 20/20 or better - no charge. His explination at the pre-op on Monday was - "we're going to have to two putt on this to get it in the hole". DH responded - "two putt? I'm just glad to be in the country club!"
I watched his first surgery. Gave me the heebie jeebies.I have no desire to do this. But, I can understand DH's desire. My eyesight is 20/40 uncorrected - I can't imagine what he was living with. It's just too bad he couldn't see anything back when I was skinny...
