Curious about that comment - is it because the prices go up higher? Really havent attended the talk yet so not sure how it could be applied. Just wondering, had a friend sign up and his base resort is Saratoga Springs and he's buying some more points when AK lodges opens up. Sounds like more Disney plans on getting your $ but hey - I keep going back for more.
Psst, geffric, they don;t know about me yet.....DVC Witness here...

Um, I already bought in at AK. There was a special op for existing members. If you bought 150 new points and were one of the first ones, they will hang a tapestry with your family name on it in the new wing. I thought it would be something special for the Kiddos...
I started with 150 at Boardwalk, and we are now up to 650 in various locations. DW loves the 1BR; "Washer/Dryer" She can start a load at night when we go to bed, put it in the dryer when we awaken (and if needed start another load then too) We can leave it all day and not have to worry about unloading. This means a lot less clothing needed. We also can fil up the fridge on a grocery stop. It isn't quite as good as concierge, but we like the size of the rooms. Also, Do you really need maid service every day? DW has the habit of cleaning up for the maid. It is less stressful for her, but less soap and stuff to take home.
Costs? Well, I think the costs went up on the first, but last month it was $99/pt with an $8 rebate if you buy at least 100 points. So for the sake of the arguement, AK at $91 a point... Actually, the pricing is in effect until June 4th
Complex Math.....
2054-2007=47 years
$91/ 47 years = $1.94 (per use year point)
Annual fee: (SS 2007) $4.12
so, if you bought in at this rate, your first use year points would cost you $6.06
A 1 BR at AKV has a weekly rate of the following during the spring Break Season...
Depending on the view: Value 169, Standard 198, Savanah 234, or
Concierge...277
Using the bank/borrow you can you can blow 2 years worth of points in 1 year and stay on the concierge level with 150 points. Your cost is $6.06*277, or just under $1700 for the points. That is $240 a night (with no added room taxes).
If you wanted to just do a Sun-Thursday trip, it is only
Sun-Thu V 19, STD 22, Sav 26, Concierge 31
31 points a night (at $6.06 a night) is just under $190
Weekend points are more expensive:
Fri-Sat V 37, STD 44, Sav 52, Concierge...61
$370 a night. (61pts*$6.06)
So there you have it, for a week during Spring Break Next Year using freshly bought points, how much it will cost you...
If you buy in at 150 points, you can use 2 years at a time to get the 277 points for Concierge!!! If you don't care about the Savanah view or the concirge level, I would say get 200 points so you can go every year on points. You might up it to 225 so you have enough for the "Magic" season" (spring break etc...)
Any Questions???
