So everyone, guess who got a room assignment today?

Not me.
I like your sense of humor.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I picked up my x-rays and report this afternoon at the end of my work day. Man, my knees look horrible on the inside, actually, they don't look that good on the outside either............:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Report states:

Right Knee Findings:

There is moderate to severe narrowing of the medial femorotibial joint space. There is also sclerosis involving the medial tibial plateau. The medial tibial plateau appears slighty depressed. This may be projectional. There is no joint effusion.

Left Knee Findings:

The patient is status post partial left knee replacement with prothetic components overlying the lateral femoral condyle and lateral tibial plateau. There is moderate-to-severe narrowing of the medial femorotibial joint space. There is osteophyte formation off the tibial spines and off the medial femoral condyle. There is also patellafemoral joint space narrowing.

Not sure, but I think maybe that's why my knees ache so much..........:rotfl2:

What say you Peter???

What does this mean in english? I am behind in posts so I will probaly see the answer before you see this.:rotfl2: It doesn't sound good though.:wizard:

I know they are extremely grateful and comforted that their girls can play with our DDs and take their mind off their mother in the hospital, because she does have serious health concerns. But it is concerning that they have no one close to them that can help them and that they call my DW because they know her from our DD's softball team. The mother's health sounds life threatening, so very concerning what options the children and grandmother may have if something were to happen. I know helping them is the right thing to do, but with DW and I both working fulltime jobs (we work opposite schedules so DDs always have a family member available), and with DW working on a PhD, the stress level's already high.

The good news.....we have Rum.

:grouphug: I think that it is good that you are beginning to look for other options to help these children. If things don't go well for their mother, it sounds like they will need some help. That is quite a burden for you to take on in so many ways.

This is crazy! The sun is now shining brightly and the rain has stopped. The street drains are either blocked or just backed up from the amount of rain that fell.

Hope the sun stays out now! :goodvibes

Hope the weater clears up for you Lisa..
we won't see sun here until Sunday.

Here's a sibling WDW story that makes me laugh. Sorry it so long!! It's a blog entry that I wrote for another Disney site.

Don't Make Your Kids Eat Green Beans

How many of us remember being told – ‘You’re going to sit there until you finish those green beans. There are starving kids in Ethiopia who would love them!’ I remember that vividly. And I remember thinking “Well then why don’t you pack them up and send them over there. There’s no way I’m going to finish my green beans!” I don’t remember whose will power wore out first, but I don’t ever remember finishing my green beans either. Maybe my mind is just suppressing that memory to save me from the horribleness of it all.

With that in mind, don’t ever trust your kids. They’ll always remember how you made them sit at the table until they finished all their green beans. Then when they get older, they’ll learn that revenge is the dish that’s best served cold, not green beans. It’s been a year and a half and I still can’t tell this story without laughing.

For those that don’t know my family, which is just about everyone, during my early teen years, when we went to our tiny local amusement park, my mother was the “rider”. My father went once or twice, but mostly he just fed quarters into the water canon on the log flume.

"I don't do rides" he always said, "my back".

He wouldn't even ride the carousel. My dad, while a good guy once you get to know him, is very serious and stern. He was actually mistaken for a prison guard when I went in for emergency surgery a few years ago.

Anyway, it's January 2004. It's me on my third trip to Walt Disney World, my brother and his wife on their second, their two girls 4 & 1 and my parents on their first. We're at the Magic Kingdom for the day and the one ride my 4yo niece HAD to do was Big Thunder Mountain. She loves roller coaster so this is not a surprise.

When we get to Frontierland, my mom who can't ride the big rides anymore says she'll stay behind with those who don't want to go. So I ask, well, maybe I screamed "Who wants to go on BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD"??

The 4 year old, jumping up and down, says, "ME, ME, ME, ME, ME!!!" . . .

My brother (her daddy) says "I'll go" . . .

Then my dad says - "I'm gonna go too!!"

HUH???

My brother and I just about fell over. He hadn't been on many rides that day. Actually, from what we can remember, he’s never been on many rides at all and we don’t recall him ever going on a roller coaster before either.

We look at each other. Then we look at him. Thinking he may think it’s a real railroad and I know how he loves trains, I ask, "You do know, it's a roller coaster and not a train ride - right??"

"Yeah" he says, "looks like fun."

OK - this is about the point we begin to wonder where our real dad went to.

When we get on, my niece makes her daddy sit with Pop - she can sit with me, her rollercoaster buddy. (I love that girl!) When it's all over, my niece says she loved it. Again, we’re not surprised by that. We ask my dad how he liked it. He says it was great - what's next? So, we take him and the other over to ride Splash Mountain.

For my dad to go on these two rides is a monumental thing. Later in the evening, my brother told me that dad was "giggling" through the whole ride on Big Thunder Mountain. Dad . . . giggling . . . no way!! This Disney magic is pretty powerful stuff!!!!

The next day, we head to Disney-MGM Studios. Again, I've been there before, my brother's been there before, and then there’s dad. He doesn't have a clue what's there or what's going on. Now he should have SOME sense of the place. I’d only been talking about everything and showing them planning videos and giving them guidebooks to look at (with pictures for dad) for the past year and a half. But still, he remains totally clueless.

In the afternoon, my brother agreed to go on Rock N Roller Coaster with me. My niece wanted to go, but she was too short. And again, Dad is there with "I'll go too!!"

As we're standing out in the courtyard, I say to him "Are you sure?" as I look up over my head.

He says, "Yeah, I'll go with you guys" and doesn't notice the upside-down car I’m staring at.

The standby line is about an hour and the Fast Pass return is also about an hour, so the three of us grab Fast Passes and we meet up with the others on a bench for an ice cream break and some people watching. A couple times during our wait, my brother and I look at each other and smirk. We tune into our sibling connection, what I call ‘the green been connection’. Without speaking a word, we both know this is a good time to get one on dad and don’t say a word about what’s in store for him. During the wait, however, one of us asks Dad, "Are you SURE you want to go?"

"Yeah, I want to go."

A few minutes later, "You know it's another roller coaster right?"

"Yeah"

A few more minutes later, "And it's a ROCK ‘N’ ROLLer coaster"

"That's ok with me."

For the past 20 years, all he’s really listed to has been Classical music, but suddenly it's ok with him? Again, where's our real dad?!?

Anyway, it’s getting close to blast off time and my brother and I start removing sunglasses, loose change, hats, etc., put them in our bags and then hang them on the stroller. Basically, anything that could fall off we took off. Dad joins right in and honestly still doesn't have a clue that it goes super fast and upside down.

So, our Fast Pass time arrives, we go through the line, the preshow, and get to the take off zone. My brother and I are tucking our lanyards into our shirts when the first car zooms off. We giggle at my dad's reaction.

"Dad, you can still leave if you want to. Are you SURE you REALLY want to do this?”

"Yeah, looks like fun."

My brother and I are fighting to contain our composure at this point. Hysterical laughter is hard to contain, but don’t worry, it’s not too far away.

I make my brother sit with dad again. After they get settled in, I step down into the car in front of them and casually say, "Hey dad, what does inverted mean?"

His eyes get big and just about shouts in slow motion
" U P S I D E D O O O W W N N ".

Now my brother and I burst out into hysterical laughter. At that point we were all strapped in and ready to go; too late to change his mind now! Dad survived and had a pretty good time. He said it was a smoother ride than Big Thunder Mountain but probably wouldn't be doing it again. Even now, when we tell this story, we can't help but crack up at how my dad went on his first inverted rollercoaster at 61 years old.

Just goes to prove two things:

1. Disney magic is mighty powerful stuff if people will just let go and have fun.

and

2. Siblings can get along great - especially if it’s to pull one over on their green bean loving parents.

Great story, thanks for sharing. For me growing up try eating cold spinach ! Yuck

It is way past my "thinking" time. That is far too much thinking for me. But then, I didn't do so well at "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" either....so maybe I'm scrambled all the time. :guilty:

Well, I thought I was going to do poorly when watching that show but so far I would have only needed help with one of the questions on the first show (first impeached president, I had 2 guesses and one was right-I'd have needed the kids help to decide which one to say though), I so need to get on that show and make some dough!!!! I thought I was going to do poorly though because I don't remember a whole heck of a lot from school- and it HAS been over 27+ years since I've been in the under 10 age group... maybe I just don't remember the harder stuff as well but somehow retained the elementary stuff? :confused3 :rotfl:

I'm not sure why we are figuring out how old our kids will be when we are 49, but mine will be 24 & 22.

And we will be living in a cardboard box after paying for college for 2 boys who are only 1 year apart in school.
I'm not sure why we're doing this either but at age 49 my kids will be 25, 21 and 18... I'll be deep in the midst of continuing college tuitions and PROBABLY a grandmother also (my first was when I was 24 so....)

I'd rather not think about when they are that old... they are still my babies!! :guilty:

They're doing it at Disneyland, also.

The Magical Fastpass, or whatever they call it, is still only good for the rides that use Fastpass....but you can still get your own Fastpass and then ride twice.
And each pass is only good once on each ride....it's not unlimited.
I think if they really wanted to make it special, it should be unlimited. But then, they wouldn't be able to give as many of them out, either. So at least this way, they're making more people happy.

That's great they are doing it at DL also.
I agree that if it was unlimited far less people would get a piece of that magic. :)

Bip.......I'm on your team.........I'm not a dude.
Ohmy... where was my head last night? I apologize. I should have KNOWN why you were so smart. ;)

Do me a favor and leave the cockroaches behind this time, okay, Noah?
Amen to that! Totally with you on that one!

It's not the size of the posts that matter, it is the content.
And my posts have lots of content. What're you trying to say, swabbie?

Too bad you are so far away, from reading your posts, it seems like you have a great system! I could use some help...:goodvibes

My problem is that I don't feel I "deserve" to start scrapbooking until the whole house is clean, the kids are clean, the laundry is done, etc. So by the time that is all done in our house of 7 (plus a Golden Retriever and a Pug) there is simply no time! I am going to give it a try today (if I can tear myself away from the DISboards).

Poohmom :hippie:
Poohmom, you're looking at this all wrong. You have to have SOMETIME for yourself! See post below:

You know, you have to make time for yourself too or you will burn out and be no good to anyone in your family . . .treat something you enjoy like scrapbooking as something you "have" to do every now and then for your mental health. Life can't be all housework and kid and animal care!
I agree!

Because nothing had color then so BIP would have HAD to wear black or white t-*****s! ;)
:lmao: I'm not that old... I had color as a child. Oh wait- I do think some of the first pictures of me as a baby are in black/white. LOL

I have never seen the importance of that number. You are a DISer with 10 or 10000 posts IMO. :thumbsup2
I agree!
Great story, thanks for sharing. For me growing up try eating cold spinach ! Yuck
for me it was brussel sprouts. Would it have KILLED my mom to put something on there like a cheese sauce or just melt some cheese on it or something? I was a major veggie eater as a child (didn't really like meat but ate it because I was told to, only enjoyed the veggies though) but brussel sprouts, and oh yeah-lima beans, were the bane of my existence. I still don't like lima beans but brussel sprouts aren't that bad if they aren't just plain.
(I like spinach and green beans though LOL)

Oh and cottage cheese...... ohmy I still remember many times me and my middle sister (youngest was WAY younger- almost 12yrs younger than myself) sitting at the table for hours because not allowed down until we ate that darn cottage cheese. I have not once made my kids eat cottage cheese. No sense traumatizing them too. They might like it when they are older, but that's one thing I am NOT forcing on them as children.

Now could someone PLEASE go slap my neighbor behind me that thought it was a bright idea to have a hound inside the city limits with a small backyard/etc? Because the dog is driving me to distraction and I'm starting to have bad thoughts about how I wish it would please just disappear... somehow... someway. I hate when she leaves him outside. He howls all day long. all. day. long. ugh

To those that may have been wondering- DH's shoulder is still hurting and is worse now (again) since the 6 day dosage pack of the medrol was over last Sunday. I've been trying to reach the dr office all week and kept getting the answering machine saying to call back during business hours (till 5pm) and kept calling back and then every day aroun 4:30-4:40pm the answering machine would say to call back when they were open! ugh! I finally yesterday had to act like it was an emergency to page the dr on call- who happened to be our dr yesterday... and he called back. Jeff has an appt with an orthopedic surgeon on next Monday. Most likely they will do xrays, possibly schedule and MRI but also most likely give him a cortizone shot in the shoulder (dr says he can't do that) and that should help a lot. I hope so, because he's still in lots of pain and still taking vicodin at night because he's so scared it will hurt bad and not be able to sleep again. He can't live on vicodin every night to get sleep! :scared1: That's especially not good because he works early and sometimes gets called in in the middle of the night- his job is dangerous enough as it is without vicodin in his system...
Will update later!

Thank you. DW got home from picking up the grandmother at the hospital (A 90 mile roundtrip) since the GM rode down in the ambulance. The mother had "stents (sp?)" inserted in artery's and they collapsed/failed I guess (again, 3rd hand info).

That doesn't sound good. :(

We just had an earthquake!!!!!

I was getting ready to log back on and the house started swaying.

Rock n Roll baby

It wasn't very big, but it was centered about 10 miles from me.

OH MY! :scared1: Why didn't I consider this before booking this cruise? We will be in the land of the earthquakes for 6 days!

:furious: Stupid Idol Show.........

How they allow america to vote off talent and leave some of those flippin wanna be singers is beyond me..........:faint:

Mark
Seems like a pattern every season huh? Paula was right in saying america wasn't judging him in his singing ability's.:sad2:

I've always wanted a candy apple red vette for my mid-life crisis car.

Now I would be such a cool Mom in DS eyes if I had a car like that. Now winter time driving well I would have to have another car.:rotfl2:

I'm married now. No longer have to follow the soaps. Actually married for a long time. No more Edge of Night with Raven. Wow I am old.:rotfl2:

I use to watch Edge of night too. That was the show to get cast on. If they killed off your character don't worry! It wasn't really you! It was a twin or a friend who had plastic surgery to look like you. :lmao:

Jack it seems that we have stayed in building 20's and I think 17 or 19. They were very convenient to a bus stop and pretty close to the quiet pools. People seem to really like to stay up close to the hospitality house and the main pool. But the way the resort is layed out we have always walked to the main pool or Olivia's and not had a problem with it. There is even a walkway that you can take to go over to SSR and then walk to DD (I always like to take the boat though).

I think that we stayed in 41 last time. It is right next to a nice pool & the busstop is just a quick walk.

:grouphug: There seems to be bad weather up and down the coast today. We are supposed to be between the two storms. So far some rain and soe wind, but nothing much. Keep safe everyone!
Same here, freaky March weather. I made plans to just stay home today. Stay safe everyone.:wizard:

I don't remember having to eat brussel sprouts as a child but the funny thing is I love them today. I still hate spinach though.:rotfl2:

Rock n Roll baby

Oh that would freak me out.:scared1: Hope things just settle and no more shaking for ya.:wizard:

But I'll take an earthquake any day over a tornado or huricane.

Do you get any kind of notice for them? I figure someone is tracking changes & they have that they can predict them in the movies. Any truth to that? I prefer hurricanes since you have plenty of warning.

So what are you saying hmmmmm? Are you inferring something about Boston drivers? Yes so I passed my test the first time too! I only hit the curb, and tried to go the wrong way down a do not enter, but I learned the ropes rather quickly. Like how to speed up real fast when you see someone try to pass you, when taking a left onto a busy road don't wait for traffic to ease up, just pull your car out & the drivers will stop their cars while waving their hands at you (just remember to give a little friendly wave back), and if the car in front of you isn't moving fast enough, just keep moving closer to their bumper...they'll get the hint! :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: I am very grateful to Boston. I am sure if I was to ask anyone to get in the car with me um they might have second thoughts.:rolleyes1 By the way............I never did actually drive in Boston except for my test.:rotfl2:

Rock n Roll baby

This is why I can't live in California - I'd be motion sick all the time.
