i had my first an only kid in 93' but i don't feel all that old yet....

Oh course it helped that i was only 20 at the time but.....

i see friends of mine (some a few years older) just starting to have kids and i think :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: ....

i mean i'm in the home stretch for the first 18 years...who in their right mind would want to start over..... ok it's more like why would I want to start over.

We've turned to fur-children as a substitute.... Easier to potty train... listen better... can be put in crates without worries of CPS....

Although Abby was a very needy pup... She'd wake up 3/4 times a night and need to be held. It was almost like an infant.

We had our first in 1993 then our second in 1996 and then, for some reason known only to my wife, we decided, after getting all of the kids out of diapers and out of preschool, to go have another baby in 2002.

Everytime I look at her, I think, you know, I could have had a puppy.

Nothing like a : "What do you want done with your remains" conversation to brighten up a Wed. afternoon!

My family doesn't 'do' viewings, we also don't 'do' a party after the funeral - boy does that annoy people in Irish-Catholic Cleveland, OH.

I'm going to be buried at sea. Weigh me down & toss me off a boat. I don't like cemeteries. My family can go to the beach and think of me.

I hear Crispy Cream is coming out with a whole wheat donut... I am not sure how that will go down...lol no pun intended :rotfl2: ...lol I have lost 14 lbs since Jan 13 so I am still in my craving mode.. so donuts are mentioned and I will leap through this computer...At this point i will take Choc, Vanilla, Cardbord... you name it..
What does my hubby do last week but buy me a 1/2 lb HERSHEYS ALMOND bar.. MY FAVORITE... I am dying here.. I told my son to hide it until after Easter...

I met dh at 19....we lived in the same dorm....coed by floor. Married at 23, had ds at 27, dd at 31, and I'm 38 now. My dh and I have been together half of our lives.....

sounds like me too... i met dh at 19 at college (in August 1991.) we got engaged the following summer (i was 20) and moved in together. Whoops dd came along a little over 10 months later (May 1993).... We kept putting off getting married. 1st until i graduated college. Then another year until he graduated..then until we both had full time jobs.... So finally in 1996 we got married.

So yes i've been with dh almost half my life.

That's what my middle brother & I always say about our younger brother!!
He's 10 years younger than me. My brothers are 5 & 10 years younger than me (yes, my mom was a SAHM with a pre-schooler for 15 YEARS!!)

Five years after my baby brother, we got our first dog.

When the evening folks sign on they are going to wonder how we got to talk about funerals and being tossed at sea..

Where is there a Ben & Jerry's around here? There used to be one across from Woodfield near the $tarbuck$, but I haven't been by there lately.

the one by Woodfiield Closed? Really? There is one on Quinten and NW Hwy in Palatine. I just checked still one in Schaumburg.. one at the metra station downtown so i can get a fix after i leave work.. and one at Midway too.

I heard the KK whole wheat donut still has something like 180 calories. Granted that is half of a caramel kreme krunch, but still.

I was just proud that we bought two dozen KKs last Friday night and it took us until today to finish them. That's 24 donuts divided by 5.5 divided by 5 people, so less than one donut per day per person.

Funny story, we went to get Dunkin Donuts Friday night after getting groceries since the weather was supposed to be bad over the weekend. We walked into DD and they had maybe 10 donuts in the racks. I really wanted to ask the counterperson this is Dunkin DONUTS, right? How can you be practically out of your primary product?

We had Joe in 1995, already had two dogs. We've since lost those two and now have Joe and two puppes (2 yo) - so much better than diapers and bottles.

Quinten and NW Hwy, hmm? That COULD be on my home from work if I avoided Rt 53 due to all the traffic, yeah, that's it.

I don't get by the Woodfield area much any more, so I didn't know if that one was stilll there or not.

My fathers family is Italian so when someone dies it's a huge thing - three day wake (with viewing) & catered lunch after the funeral. Just like baptisms and weddings.

I told my wife that I think now I want to be cremated , and have a Nice picture of me by the earn or something ....I dont think I want my kids to have that same creepy feeling I had ...I know this sounds crazy but I kept thinking he was going to open his eyes and yell booo...Sorry but I guess I have a warped mind or something ...
pirate:

Hey Todd.... here's an idea...

I saw this on tv this morning...

There's a group of entrapeneurs who are building a city of Atlantis off the shores of Miami. (it's actually funded by becoming an underground cemetery for those who are cremated; ie small cement tubes)

They said that visting there (ie snorkling) was free to anyone who wanted to VISIT there.

They said it costs twice that of a regular funeral but sounded neat....
