I listened to most of the podcast last evening while I was falling behind on this thread, LOL!!! A few points of interest were made about the new ships:

1) more cabins that will fit 5 and 6 people

2) more connecting cabins

3) more "Main Dining" options

Now I was soo ready for Adam to get his license. He got his permit soon after he turned 16 and license about 7 months later. It was so nice to have him drive to football practices and school. He has really been responsible also no tickets or accidents. The worse part was insurance. For the 1st year it was $2200 every 6 months!!:scared1: But the rates have improved as he has gotten a little older. I hear the rates aren't as bad for girls.

Wow!

$4,400 a year per driver sounds like a LOT! I wonder what it'll cost when MY 2 girls wanna start driving in about 10-14 years! :woohoo:

 Good Morning Crew

My weren't we a chatty group last night, I wake up this morning to see 30 pages were added, time to go skimming.

I'm also on hold with our utility company, I woke up this morning to find out hot water heater leaking all over our utility floor. I guess I can't complain, the hot water heater was installed just before we moved in this house back in July 1980.

Well now...

Andy, you've gotten terriffic service out of your water heaters. I think we got less then 5 years from our 1st one in the house we're in now! In fact, I was able to call in on it and get warrenty service for a brand new replacement! No charge for the equipment... however I had to pay for the labor which ran us about $400 or so as I Vaguely recall...

Great pics Tina:thumbsup2 Did you get your shirts off Disney shopping? I think I ordered one of those. I guess I really need to open the box I got from them awhile back--I am thinking now it had more than a doll in it!:rolleyes1

I run into that problem too. We order stuff for the kids, then forget we tacked on something for ourselves and then we hide the boxes until birthday or Christmas and then it's "D'oh!"

That's great news ANDY....

Last year I started a thread posing questions to a POLL asking whether DCL should add smaller, same size or larger ships. Then I asked about all kinds of aspects - including (from memory) whether folks wanted larger top end suites, a casino, and where they wanted a new ship to sail - among other things. Many folks wanted the exact same sized ships as we currently have... and surprisingly few were interested in the larger top end suites. I for one am pleased to no end with the new ships. THe only thing left to see is how pricing will be effected with so much more capacity. I imagine the new ships will comand a slight premium for many years to come - while the older ships might see some price reduction.

Be thankful you don't have DH's job! He has to get recertified every so often and one of the classes involves studying major crashes & why they happened. Where do these classes happen? All the way across the country in CA...so he has to get on a plane to go hear about them & get back on one to come home after doing nothing but studying plane crashes for two weeks. :sad2: It doesn't seem to bother him though.

SWMBO is a disaster-junkie. She watches all those 'Seconds from Disaster' and every bad TV movie about disasters. Those things give me nightmares. I'd rather not hear about how 300 people died b/c some idiot forgot to tighten a bolt.

When I was talking with the utility rep on the phone earlier this morning, she asked how old the water heater was, when I told her it was installed in July 1980, her reply was, "WOW, that's a long time ago!!!" The unit was replaced in order for us to get the CO to move in, can't complain though, it has given us good service over the years. We do have a contract with the gas company, not sure how much it is going to cost to have replaced. I have to call after 8am to have the service team come out and put a new unit in.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Excellent point.

Seriously though. Have the folks who are afraid of flying thought about learning how to do it? Or at least the ground school portion, and may be a couple of lessons? It might help if you have a good understanding of what is really going on. I know that on past flights DH (who is a private pilot) has talked to seatmates who are afraid of flying. "So, now this is going to happen, and this is what the plane will feel like, and this is what the pilot is doing now." They said it really helped them

Ground school is available on DVD these days. Heck you could probably pick up a used set on eBay.

I fly a zillion miles a year and am pretty knowledgable about what happens on take off and all the various procedures but it hasn't help. I guess part of my problem is I know a little too much about thrust and lift from my short career as an AE student and human flight is a technological marvel. So I just close my eyes until the thing is in the air.

From the manufacturer they say they do not recommend putting it anywhere on the face and that there is no clinical evidence to support the use of it this way. My artical also states that the idea of using prep H on the face or around the eyes is a viscious rumor begun at the expense of the reuptation of models and actoresses. However, some other rumors are quite true about using glue for holding skimpy swimsuits in place and surgical tape to add to the appearance and refinement of cleavage.

Silly. That's why they got TWO pilots. What you think there's some sort of Union of Suicidal pilots - and they arrange to fly in pairs?? :confused3

Sorry for the sarcasm, but that didn't help all those people on Egypt Air 990 in 2002. IIRC, the relief first officer disconnected the autopilot and sent the plane into a nose dive. Nothing the captain could do to save the plane. Whether he was suicidal as suspected or incompetent, no one knows.

I know it was one rare instance and suicidal pilots or terrorists are far from the top of my list of travel worries. It's the rushed maintenance I worry about -- they are given too little time to do their jobs and under enormous cost pressure.

Out here a swap including parts and labor runs just under a grand in a residential setting. I was a real bottom scraping sort in finding a handy guy to handle the removal and reinstallation of our last water heater. My neighbor 2 doors down did his the same day. He got a Rheem made model and I had a GE. He paid just under 1000 or 1100 and that was "High" as I recollect.
