Just had to share this.... I barely make the cut on this but hey, I remember so MUCH of it!!

People over 30 should be dead!

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, or even maybe the early 70's probably shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. (Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.)

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. No cell phones. Unthinkable!

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms. We had friends! We went outside and found them. We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents?

We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside us forever.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and were held back to repeat the same grade. Horrors! Tests were not adjusted for any reason.

Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. And you're one of them!

Congratulations!

People under 30 are WIMPS!

Boy isn't that the truth .:lmao: No I am not a wimp, I am over 40 thank you very much.:rotfl2:

Hey Pete and Johnna! We need to form our own Fear of Flying Support Group. I just flew for our last cruise this past August. This was the first time since 1994. I truly detest it and often wonder if I could buy a parachute somewhere to be able to wear on the plane. A drink, a valium, and a parachute and I think I could enjoy the flight :lmao: :lmao:

I mean, think about it. The plane is late so the Captain has put the hammer down in a 747. You've got wind shear, downdraft, massive turbulence, not to mention four giant engines burning jet fuel at galactic temperatures. We're standing in a flying death tube!

(Ok, there should be some openings on Capt's Dining now as some people rethink flying to CA for this cruise.)

I'll point out that the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic by professionals in a future post...

Hi Deanna, whilst Johnna watches The Empire Strikes Back I thought I'd sneak in a few posts.

I've also been searching for the longest time for material for my DD's POTC costume. I think I'm trying too hard to get an exact match. I've been watching the opening scene of POTC for the last week, with young Elizabeth Swann (DD age 11). It's embroidered silk. The real stuff is expensive, then I turned to faux silk in the Shantung style. What to do?

Too much info?
So Darth which Elizabeth costume are you doing? I was going to do the gold dress one for my DD

No, not really. Jonesing told a story earlier today about his Pediatrician prescribing "butt paste" or something like that for his ds when he had a diaper rash....

We love this.

It's time for me to get back to Fabricguru.com and look at some more material swatchs. Great site.:thumbsup2

Catch ya'll later.:)
Fabricguru is awesome. I have purchase fabric from them often. In fact my living room window treatments and family room pillows are made of their fabrics. But if you can't fine some there let me know via pm and I can give you some other sites to check out.

A simple question........Chocolate or Vanilla?

Me: Chocolate!
Chocolate!!!! with Frangelica. (did I spell that right)

Another busy day on the thread........went back 10 pages thats as far as I'm going anymore to ketchup.

Darth...what a jack of all trades you are. He cooks. he sews, and he is a doc. pretty cool.

Hey MR all that commuting talk yesterday..........go into work this morning and my boss tells me I gotta go to
West St tomorrow for a meeting UUUGGGHHHH!!!!!

I had to call my brother (the bus driver) to ask him how much I needed to take the bus :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously?!?!

Does flying bother you? DMom loves to fly...but hates takeoff, landing and turbulance! :lmao: I thought we were going to have to sedate her once  whereas I'm more apt to fall asleep before wheels-up! Too much time spent in flight testing

Does flying bother me........well I hate it, I detest it to the very core of my being. I'd rather pluck my eyeballs out of their sockets and yank every hair out of my head. I'd rather visit the Gynecologist, I rather have a colonoscopy........Yeah, I think I have a problem with flying :rotfl: :rotfl:

I Want to Go Everywhere...
... and Never Come Back!!!

I saw this earlier today and the guy in the pic looked familar and then it started bothering me - Where do I know him from? I jus figured it out - he played Barty Crouch Jr. in HP IV.

Just think of it, a mere 15 years ago no one had a cell phone and everybody did ok.

That's not true. The 'cell phone' as we know it was launched in 1973. The first trial network in Chicago was launched in 1978 and full commercial service was launched in 1984.

O - M - G!!! These kids are going to drive me to break out the cooler tonight. :scared: DS just came downstairs for the second time at 9:50 pm!!! :headache: He is afraid of the dark & DH just got up & turned off his lamp. He was a bear to get out of bed this morning...had to yell up to him until 7:35 and sent him back upstairs to get dressed. UGH! Tomorrow is NOT going to be any fun. :sad2: DD wants to stay in our bed tonight & not be put in hers. I need to get her a better mattress so that I can sleep in there when she is stretched out taking up my space.

Hi Doreen!

I can deal with everything but the landing - I hate it when the landing is rough. A few years ago we were flying to St. Louis for our convention and had to fly from Albany to Atlanta to St. Louis. Anyway there was some hurricane or other that was going on (cat 1) and when we landed in Atlanta I was almost reaching for the barf bag. The really funny thing is I was flying with one of the guys from work who has a real flying phobia and had run out of his meds. So during the take off and landings I agreed to hold his hand - when we got off the plane in Atlanta he had nail marks embedded into the palm of his hand.

Mine is takeoffs. Don't know why, but I hate takeoffs. I can handle the flight once we are in the air -- I guess the steady-state thing works for me. Landings I am usually fine with -- I figure we're heading that direction anyway, so it is just a matter of slowing down enough.

And I went to college to be an aeronautical engineer and Air Force pilot...

I agree! The pair I ordered came today.I wear between 8.5 & 9. I got a nine, they feel fine BUT they are UGLY on the feet. I am hoping that the comfort will make me see past the big fat glob of red where my feet used to be.

ROFLMAO!!! :lmao: I have never heard them described quite that way. :lmao:

That's it, I'm all caught up and am signing off for the night. By this time last night I was already sleeping like a baby. See y'all in the mornin'
Well I guess you will see this in the morning.............night Andy.:rotfl2: Also Good Morning.

Sorry MR - I can't help. I'm sticking with the cute shoes!

::yes:: Isn't that why we get the pedicure so our feet look even cuter in cute shoes?:rotfl:
