I didn't get an emailed compass either, yet I am able to log into the Castaway Cay site online and they definitely have my email . . . it's a real mystery how DCL chooses to send communications to some and not to others.

I am not able to log onto the CC. I have tried all 3 of our numbers. But I could up until a couple of months ago.:confused3

Waiting is difficult, but we're really trying to enjoy the time and savor all of the steps of the process. We're getting the room ready, (and trying to control ourselves and not buy every kid thing we see!!! :lmao: )

I've been keeping a little journal of the whole process that I will someday share with my son or daughter. ;)

How absolutely precious! I kept a journal for my DD when I was pregnant. I also have a box with letters that I have written to her over the years for her b-day, Christmas, or just because. I'm a big sentimental sap!

You are about to start a whole new chapter in life. Life as you once knew it will NEVER be the same...but the rewards are so worth it!

I wish I could still do that. I did pull him out for vacations in grade school--but once he hit middle school it seemed like I was hitting a brickwall. But he will be graduating HS next year:cool1:

DD is still in grade school. :rolleyes1 The Trip of a Lifetime will probably be the last time I pull her. She'll be missing the first 4 days of 4th grade for it, but I know the teachers well and they have assured me it won't be a problem. I can understand not doing it in MS or HS.

I posted earlier about getting our duffel bag (32" High Sierra AT3 Sierra-Lite) from TJ Maxx. I was going to get it from my favorite online luggage store but I got these (1 red, 1 black) for about $90 CHEAPER (each)!!! So what if they are the 2005 models, I could pack a body in there! :rolleyes1

Anyway, not one to sit around and wait out the 18 months to see if they got more in, I dragged the family to a couple of Denver-area stores... And boy did I hit the mother lode!!! :woohoo:

Not only did I find the 32" model in blue (DW wanted each of us to have our own color) but I ALSO found the 26" model AND the "2-in-1 Carry-On Wheeled Computer Backpack"...each bag in blue, black and the red! (These are 2005 models because the 2006 line replaced red with gray and the black bags do not have the lime green piping) I also found this 27" bag which is a duffel with a detachable backpack on the top! They also had the carry-on size with the backpack that zips off...you could technically carry-on one extra bag onto an airplane using this bag ;)

Anyway, I couldn't quite decide which bags to keep for our "set"...the 32" of course, but then do we need one or two of the 26" bags? At least one 26" bag to hold shoes--you know, sandals (Keen, sorry you Crocs folks), formal shoes, water shoes, sneakers, DW's snorkel gear. And, of course we need at least one carry on for embarkation day... Since I couldn't decide on an empty stomach I went ahead and bought bags to make a complete 3-pc set in black, blue and red  one color for each of us :rolleyes1 I'll decide later and take back the ones we don't want.

For you folks in the Denver area, here's a hint...the store on University in Highland Ranch (about 4 miles west of Park Meadows Mall) has 4 or 5 bags (32", 26" and carry on) in stock ;)

Greetings from the Magic!

I couldn't stay away! Gotta type fast only 86 mins left. Just got out of the CC get together. Tom Waller? was there. 2 new ships in 2011 & 2012! Will be built at ship yard in Germany. He said that there is alot of speculation on the DIS Boards! Bigger, more tonnage, hold 4,000 people. New design, 2 decks taller and combine Mickey and Goofy pools into one big family pool. I don't know if this is somthing that has been posted before, but if it's new I wanted you guys to be the first to know!

I am having CJ thread withdrawls, but we are having a great time. Too much to ketchup on! Gotta go, there is a deck chair on deck 4 with my name on it!

Hi Tina,

Have a MAGICal time, but then again, I know you will!!! ;) ;) ;)

That is great find. Glad you got to get complete sets. Sometimes that is difficault at TJM. Are you able to fit them inside of each other? If so I always pack my large suitcase into my empty XL. That way I have room for everything I load up with on vacation. I am sure that I will need to do this with atleast 2 of my suitcases for this TPC cruise. Last time I was in the gift shop begging for an empty box.

Thanks Andy!

Now, I am sure those nice new meters would be great for your knees, but would you really want to extend your time away from retirement in Fl? ;)

Hey, if all I had to do was drive around town and read the meters from the car, sure I'd stick around another 5 years to get a bigger retirement check each month!!! ;) ;) ;)

I've been wanting to do that, too . . . I saw a show on the Travel Channel about a RCCL ship that goes on that route, but I would much rather do it on Disney if I knew it was in the works . . .

I'm hoping by the time I get this "Trip of a Lifetime" paid off, DCL will be heading to Alaska!!! :thumbsup2 ;) :thumbsup2

I have never watched any of the previous seasons of AR, but I've been watching this season. I'm a little perplexed when it seems that airline people are willing to give info and special deals to some, but not to others. :confused3

I thought that it must be something I missed out on in the past seasons. Like maybe only the first so many teams got priviledges, and the others are just outa luck.

I don't think airline people necessarily give special deals. I do know that TAR often has made arrangements to only allow so many teams on each flight which is why an airline will say a flight is sold out. I've also had airline people and travel agents tell me one flight is the fastest when it is not b/c they failed to check flights with multiple stops. I've also had airline people put me onto a supposedly 'full' flight and gotten upgraded to first class just by asking.

So, TAR fans, who is next to be eliminated?

My guesses:

Dave & Mary next, then Rob & Amber.

I am currently betting on Eric & Danielle to win it all.

Me too, although looking at the prices for other lines' Alaska cruises, my sons had better either be too dumb to go to college or smart enough to get a scholarship if I have any hope of cruising again.

That should make it easy to inspire them: "OK, boys, if you can't excel and beat everyone else, then just slack off and enjoy yourself, because you'll never be able to afford college anyway!" Hmmm, wonder what they would decide to go for?

I just finished a round of Supartz injections in my right knee. Wasn't too bad, and seems to have helped quite a bit. The doc says that's just about my only option for now, since I have NO cartilage left to try to repair. Only other option is knee replacement, and he says he'd rather see me get a little older first. I guess they only last about 10 years, and he said if I got one now, I'd have to have it done again in the future.

I know what you mean, my orthopedic surgeon is trying to hold off as long as possible before he does my total replacement as well. I did have a partial knee replacement done to my left knee in March 2001. The doc said it should last 8-10 years, but giving the kind of job I have, I'm not sure if it will actually last that long. I was bone on bone on the outer side of the knee, but now the inner side is starting to give me trouble. I guess a lot depends on what the x-rays show. I'm going to see about the possibility of getting another round of Synvisc injections, they did help before for awhile.

I live in a town of 75,000 and we all got our meters replaced last year. The water usuage is read through the phone lines.:confused3 I am not sure how it works, but it does. Here is hoping they will not do this to your town :scared1:

I hear you about too cold for sales. Our K-Mart lets us in the vestibule, but everywhere else, banks, post offices and Wally World, for the girls outside. There was NO WAY that we we going to be freezing our butts off just for that!

DW started Weight Watchers this weekend! :scared: She was going to try the 6 Week Body Makover but when the kit arrived, she saw that she was alloted 1/2 cup of boiled/baked chicken or some such thing, no salt, no dairy etc! Back into the box and off it went!! Instead she decided to do the WW and she likes the people so she'll prolly stick with it :thumbsup2

Of course that means I have to decide if I'm going to turn in my order fo GS cookies...she said at the meeting the counselor asked how many cookies people would eat, favorite kind etc. One guy replied he could eat 5 or 6 easily but limits himself to that. The counselor was excited and said that's really a good thing to limit to 6 cookies...wrong, he corrected her, 5 or 6 BOXES!!!!!:laughing:

:scared1: im about to throw this :sad2: laptop i have been on here for hours i bought 2 jetskis off ebay from jacksonville i found a cruise out of jacksonville and a flight down for 49.00 now i cant find a rental car company from florida to nj that has a hitch to tow them back:sad2:now that i vented back to trying to figure something out
hope everyone has a better day than me
