My first car (with DH, then DBF) a 1974 Pinto Station Wagon. It was powder blue and I put a bumper sticker on it that said I Heart General Hospital. Those were the days! That car saw alot of action...........just don't hit us in the rear or we would have exploded :scared1: :scared1: Sure glad that didn't happen.

Do you remember the General Hospital song? "Calling Dr. Noah Drake....to cure a case of heartache!"

Oh and that marvelous picture of Andy was spawned when Long Johns were mentioned.

Long johns can be:

A name for long underwear.
Another name for éclairs in some parts of the United States.
A bar-shaped doughnut, which may or may not be filled.
A traditional two-wheeled Danish freight bicycle for carrying heavy loads.
The Long Johns are the British satirists John Bird and John Fortune.

Sorry! It's a sickness. I'll stop now. I'm on a diet so I don't have any self medication going on with alcohol, chocolate, etc. It's making me crazed & an insomniac to boot! :rotfl:

Diane - step away from Wikepedia

 Good morning all and happy Thursday!
I've already done ketched up...:)

First experience at DL/WDW...
DDad travelled a lot so we managed DL before WDW. I loved California and thought it was awesome. I still get goose bumps thinking about It's A Small World chiming!!! Then we went to WDW and I was TOTALLY blown away. We were spoiled as kids and got the passes, not the ticket booklets. Thought we were 'hot stuff' to pick out a button so we could wear it. But honestly we loved looking for a family when we were done for the day to give our passes to. That was in the '70s, can't you tell? :rotfl:

Best possible cruise day:
Check in and find out that we were upgraded by the Mouse into the Roy or Walt.:cool1: Then we get picked as the family of the week to board first. The CMs faces are of pure shock  when we notify them that our travelling party consists of 400 of our closest friends from the DIS that need to board with us!:rotfl: Then, once on board, Captain Tom announces that we'll be sailing directly to CC and spend the entire trip there.:cloud9:

Funny pet story and Funny childhood story:
These go both together. When DB and I were little, we had a cat named Boots. Oh the way we used to 'play' with her drove our parents nuts!!! One day, after spending over an hour to catch her:rolleyes1 , DB and I decided to make her Super Kitty, complete with mask and cape. As we were deciding on her adventure, DMom called us for dinner. Now after all of this hard work, DB and I certainly couldn't just let her go. So, we had a not so bright idea...let's put her in DBs drawer for safe keeping until we were done eating. Deed done, we went and ate. DMom commented how good we were that day and offered to take us to DQ for ice cream. We jumped at the chance and TOTALLY forgot about Boots. That night, DB woke up and went into my parent's room b/c he was hearing noises and was scared.:rolleyes1 They let him crawl into bed and it was a peaceful night, for all but the poor cat. Next morning we go off to school and DMom starts putting away the laundry. She got to the 'magic drawer' and out came a very poofy cat who jumped onto her chest and then ran for the hills. After DMom got over the shock, she noticed what the cat had done in the drawer...all over DBs clothes.:rolleyes1 Boy did we get it when we got home!!!:rotfl2:

You have a picture with Bernard & Bianca! I LOVED them.

Of course, I'm :scared1: and :rotfl: at your cat story.

Topics for tomorrow:

Mickey Bars

Here is a picture of DS with his very first Mickey Bar ever! It was at MK on our first visit before the first cruise. We were sitting in front of the castle waiting for Spectromagic. :goodvibes

The darn scanner isn't working right. I will have to post it later.

First trip th the World was pretty typical for the mid-70s. Mom, Dad and three kids loaded up in the Ford Grand Torino station wagon making the trek from NJ to Orlando. We stayed at the CR for $65/night. I remember my Mom worring if they could afford it. The interesting part was what happened when we got home. To this day we sometimes ask my Mom what were they thinking.

We get home from a week at WDW. My Dad still having a few extra vacation days, decides he wants to go to Niagara Falls. Huh :scared1: ??? So, Mom does laundry, repacks the wagon and of we go to Niagara Falls the next day. Now it's July and we have no reservations for a hotel. We get to the NY side of the Falls an cannot find a place to stay. We cross the boarder and finally on the Canadian side they find a room at some flea bag for $80US. My Father was freaking. The next day we did the Falls which were interesting for all of 15 minutes. My Brother kept asking where the Dumbo was. By this time my Father was steaming, my Mom was furious and the three of us were wondering when we were going home. We packed up and were back in NJ the next day. Mom and Dad did not speak to each other for a few days after that.

My Mom swears she tried to stop him. Stubborn Irish!

Hot date! :lmao:

My first car was an automatic baby blue VW Beetle. It had a stick, but no clutch & I kept popping the stick out all the time. It had a hand crank sun roof & virtually no heat. I remember driving in the winter & scraping the inside of the windshield. :cold:

OMG, I think you might be related to my DH  He's FOREVER talking about driving his "bugs" to school w/his brother while his brother scraped the inside of the window ... but every time one of them talked or breathed, it'd frost right back up again :rotfl2:

Good morning All. I am going to try to ketchup before I head off to work. When I talked to my mom this morning she said her DH had a pretty good night. The dr's say there is not pneumonia, but they are still trying to figure out what the infection he has. They have him on some strong antibiotics. The dr's are hopeful they will be able to take him off the ventilator late tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for all your prayers.

Thank you for the update. I'm glad he had a good night. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery

But WHY do they call it a cabinet? Is it because if you drink enough of them, you'll be roughly the shape of a cabinet? Is it because they are so runny they'll end up in your drawers?

Rhode Island just seems to like having weird names for milkshakes . . . at Newport Cremery they are called "awful awfuls" and you actually have to say that to order one "I'd like a vanilla oreo awful awful . . ." They say they are "awful thick" and "awful good" (grammar isn't their strong suit) and they are delicious, but the name is just "awful."

romanburger.jpg

It is one of those things that I could take or leave when I lived there, but MUST HAVE everytime we go home. There is nothing like it anywhere else in the world.

Mr. Hero is a regional chain. I'm not sure how far they go beyond Cleveland-Toledo. A Romanburger is a hero (sub, grinder, hoagie) with Italian meats, cheese, lettuce, tomato, dressing and 2 burger patties!! MMmmmm. Combo comes with waffle fries and cheddar cheese dipping sauce. MMMmmmm.

Heart attack on a tray indeed.

We don't have a Mr.Hero anywhere near us.....But one place I miss from back in Toledo is Olga's Kitchen......FGM, do you guys have those nearby? I know there are some in Michigan....

is Mr. Hero related to Mr. Donut? I miss him.

Hey...this one's a bit more upbeat than previous posts!

Here is a pic of my DD with DGramps on the Magic in 10/05.

PS...that's not sunburn on DDs face...she reacted to the face paint they used in the Club. She's got verrrrrrry sensitive skin.

Morning everyone:goodvibes

We use Butt Paste as well. Read about it somewhere. When DD was a baby, we used a product from Sweden? called kew kod oil. Big jar of ointment. Rash cleared up almost instantly. However, never could find it when we moced to L.I. Went back to Brooklyn to seek it out and never did find it again. My DD used to get rashes so bad,we had to keep her bare when we could.
First trip to WDW was in 77 when only MK was there. Stayed at Contemporary in 78 and the cost was $60.00 a night. Our friends and family thought we were out of our minds as I think the Days Inn was around $20.00 at that time. You can't compare the experience.
The first car my DH had when we were dating was a Chevy Corvair.

Your very first experience at Disneyland / WDW
A description of the best possible cruise day
Funny stories about your favorite pet
Funny stories about your sibling(s) / childhood
If you won the lottery - what would you do with it?

G'nite! Catch you on the flip side.

Best possible cruise day is a beautifully sunny day at sea, hanging by the pool with the kids and friends. The servers have told us that the "adult" beverages are on the mouse for the entire day. They've brought back the dueling pianos for an all-ages sing along. Everything served at dinner just melts in your mouth ... and it's all calorie free. The kids head off to the club/lab and the adults gather for a comedian and continued laughter and good times.

When I was growing up I had a cat and a dog that didn't necessarily get along. The dog was a spaz and she was confined to the kitchen most of the time. We were living in a duplex at the time ... but this one was split in half long-ways meaning there were 2 staircases to reach the 2nd floor and all of the rooms were in a line. The cat would sit outside the kitchen by one of the gates blocking the dog into the room, and the cat would make a noise. The dog would put it's nose over the gate (solid gates) and the cat would swat it. The dog would rear back, giving the cat enough time to escape, then the dog would jump onto the gate and bark it's fool head off at the cat that was no longer there. The cat would run up the stairs, through the bedrooms down the other stairs, into the diningroom and crouch under the other gate ... all the while the dog is barking at the first gate. Then the cat would make a noise and the dog would come over to the 2nd gate where the same thing would happen again. I'm telling you, this cat would continue to tease and torment the dog like this for HOURS if we would have let him :rotfl:

I think one of the funniest stories from my childhood was the time my brother got back at my Mom for all of her teasing and pranks. Mom had coerced my brother into helping her do some work around the yard, planting flowers, cleaning up, etc. She noticed a hole in the dirt at the base of the foundation of the house. She asked my brother what it was, he said he didn't know. She told him to feel around the hole and see if he could figure it out. My brother wasn't very happy ... but did what he was told. All of a sudden, my brother starts screaming and saying that his hand is stuck, and something was grabbing him from inside the hole. My Mom starts freaking out and tries to grab onto my brother to keep him from getting sucked into the hole when my brother pulls his hand away from the hole and turns to my Mom. He said, "Bet you won't make me reach into any more mysterious holes will you?" :lmao:

Can't tell you exact date but somewhere around the opening in 1955. I am the short one, my brother is the tall one in Adventureland.

Here is another one of the Captain Hooks pirate ship in Fantasyland. Wish that it was still there. They had a Chicken of the Sea restaurant inside that had the best tuna sandwiches.

And another one when I was about 7-8 with Mickey and Minnie.

I think in general boys are more cuddly with their moms than girls. Same is true for us, my sister, and many of our friends.....:confused3

Ds will come up and give me a kiss and hug for no reason all of the time. Dd doesn't ever do that. She will really only cuddle early in the morning or at bed time. I want to just grab her and kiss and hug her during the day, and she gets annoyed. I told her the other day that I love her sooooo much and it just gets all "bottled up" inside of me, and I need to let it out. She told me I need to get a bigger bottle! :goodvibes

It broke my heart when I realized that DD wasn't a cuddly baby. :( She would cry when I held her trying to comfort her & be happy as could be on a blanket on the floor on her back. She is more snuggly now though.

Good idea!! I hadn't even thought of that, Lisa!! Dd will make her 1st Communion next Spring, so that will be perfect.....and this Fall she will be in my brother's wedding....so that dress will be for the other formal night!

That's how you cut expenses. :thumbsup2
