My first experience at anything Disney was in 11/03 when we took the kids to MK before the cruise. We walked down main street and I realized that the castle was real. I had been told by SWTSKIA (she who thought she knew it all) that it was only a flat prop when I was growing up. I had tears in my eyes when we got in front of it and turned toward tomorrow land. I took lots of pictures. I don't think that DH realized why I couldn't take my eyes off of it.

We went to the Cinderella surprise show that morning. DH & I had agreed that there wasn't a point to standing in line to see characters when they would be on the ship with shorter lines. We had parked the stroller to the right of the stage against the gate since we had been really early getting there. Well, we were getting the strollers & realized that there were people lining up behind us. We looked up & saw Mickey heading towards us with one other family in front of us. I looked at DH and said we are GOING to get a picture with Mickey. I was worried about the kid's reactions since they both didn't like Santa and DS had freaked out the year before when we told him we were going on the Disney ship. They walked up to Mickey checking him out and then he opened his arms to them. DS gave him a big hug & smiled. With a little coaxing from DH, DD did too I was SO relieved. The CM offered to take our picture together.

I have loved looking thru our pictures from this trip. It's been a long time...so thanks for bringing this topic up. :goodvibes

Here's my car story for the day ... I was dating a guy that drove a Porsche when I met DH. DH asked me out on a date and I accepted ... when I walked out to his car to go to dinner, imagine my surprise when he walked me over to a YUGO :scared1: Of course there was a rose on the seat of that YUGO, and there had never been any roses in the Porsche :sad2:

Sweet! Just goes to show you, can't judge a man by the car he drives. BTW my dh was driving a Chevy Citation when I met him.

I seriously just saw a Yugo a few months ago. It was in the parking lot at Target. I could not believe that it was still running!

Here are some of my favorite shots from our first cruise in 11/03. The kids were 3 & 5.

Taken on our first afternoon on the ship.

:grouphug: Hope you get to feeling better! I'm doing okay. Trying to decide what vacations plans will be for this summer. We have ressies on Carnival Legend for June, but I'm starting to get nervous about it. Haven't read good things about it lately, especially as it relates to fellow guests.:headache: Now I'm considering NCL Spirit or Dawn or RCCL Explorer. Close to home and I've heard good kids stuff. :confused3 It's making me nuts, not to mention it will drive DH nuts when I talk to him about it!:rolleyes1 Any thoughts?

We had planned on doing the Crown Princess out of NYC for our anniversary, but cancelled that in favor of doing a pre-TOAL stay in DL next year. Anyway, if you haven't looked into that, it is worth considering. Just prepare yourself so you don't giggle too much when the booking agent says, "Oh, we have rooms available on the Lido deck."

Honestly, Carnival isn't even in my list of cruise lines to consider any time in the near future. At this point in my life, I don't want "the FUN ship". I'd rather be on a "family focused frumpy ship."

Do you want to cruise this summer for sure, or are you considering non-cruise options, too?

Hi all, first a Joke for the Capt'n

THE GOOD-BYE LETTER
A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the pillow. It was addressed "Dad." With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands.
"Dear Dad,
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, her tight Motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am. But it's not only the passion... Dad she's pregnant.
Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.
Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people in the commune for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.
In the meantime we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it!! Don't worry Dad, I'm 15, and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit, so you can get to know your grandchildren.
Love, your son,
John.
PS. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the report card that's in my center desk drawer. I love you! Call when it is safe for me to come home.

Dear Lisa, When we went last year with our DS2 we werescared of his reaction to the characters. Dale came by first; he was a little wary. Then came Pluto... (He LOVES dogs) Mommy said "Look, its a dog, Pluto" He got the biggest grin on his face... It was great...

Thought about the Crown Princess but it's more expensive and have heard that it carries a :snooty: 'snooty' crowd. :confused3

I wouldn't have thought about Carnival but for DDad who just sailed the Valor this January and had a FANTASTIC time. But, that being said, different ship, different itinerary and different mix of people. I love the ports for the Legend (Belize, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya) but I don't think I want to be on a 'party' ship. I'm with you on the FFFS.:thumbsup2

I've thought about other non-cruise options but they aren't as appealing. Spent 2 weeks last summer on the Yucutan Peninsula in Mexico. It was nice but I don't want to do that again. DH HATES Jamaica. (We had a baaaaad experience there and it had nothing to do with drugs or cops!) And I'll visit DBro in FL over the summer with DD so that's why I keep coming back to the cruise thing.

This is a pic of my Dante when he was a puppy. I planned 6 weeks before I got him from Alabama. He is spoiled and is my 3rd child. He is 17 months old now.

Awwwww... that MORE than makes up for all the bad stories yesterday. What a sweetie!

Good Morning/Good Afternoon. I'll be in and out all day, just trying to catch up here. see ya'll later.

Funny pet story and Funny childhood story:
These go both together. When DB and I were little, we had a cat named Boots. Oh the way we used to 'play' with her drove our parents nuts!!! One day, after spending over an hour to catch her:rolleyes1 , DB and I decided to make her Super Kitty, complete with mask and cape. As we were deciding on her adventure, DMom called us for dinner. Now after all of this hard work, DB and I certainly couldn't just let her go. So, we had a not so bright idea...let's put her in DBs drawer for safe keeping until we were done eating. Deed done, we went and ate. DMom commented how good we were that day and offered to take us to DQ for ice cream. We jumped at the chance and TOTALLY forgot about Boots. That night, DB woke up and went into my parent's room b/c he was hearing noises and was scared.:rolleyes1 They let him crawl into bed and it was a peaceful night, for all but the poor cat. Next morning we go off to school and DMom starts putting away the laundry. She got to the 'magic drawer' and out came a very poofy cat who jumped onto her chest and then ran for the hills. After DMom got over the shock, she noticed what the cat had done in the drawer...all over DBs clothes.:rolleyes1 Boy did we get it when we got home!!!:rotfl2:

It's official. I am obviously a sick individual. I think that's one of the funniest stories I've ever heard. Too bad my brothers and I didn't think of that! :rotfl2:

Can't tell you exact date but somewhere around the opening in 1955. I am the short one, my brother is the tall one in Adventureland.

Here is another one of the Captain Hooks pirate ship in Fantasyland. Wish that it was still there. They had a Chicken of the Sea restaurant inside that had the best tuna sandwiches.

And another one when I was about 7-8 with Mickey and Minnie.

Awesome pictures! Makes me wonder if my parents kept our old pics.

I still laugh my a** off when I think about it. And yes, DB and I are truly certifiably sick!!!!! So nice to know that we have good company, isn't it?:rotfl2:

Bunnies, huh? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You asked for it!

Aren't you sorry you wanted bunny stories?

You really enjoyed ruining my morning didn't you??
:sad2:

HAPPY TOPIC #1 - First trip to WDW.

I was an abused child, my parents didn't take me until I was almost 13. With the age gaps in my family, my mom wanted to wait until we were all old enough to remember. We finally went when my youngest brother was almost 3 (come to think of it, mom was no dummy, DB was still free!). We stayed off site at the "Wilson World" hotel. Yup, we called it WallyWorld. We were there the week it opened.

My most vivid memory is the video tapes of that trip. It was 1985, so you can imagine what the ol' video camera looked like. It was a huge camera with wires that connected to a full-size VCR that my dad had to carry in a bag over his shoulder! The whole contraption probably weighed 30 lbs.

My dad walked behind us for a week filming our reactions to various thing throughout MK and EPCOT. Those tapes are now commonly referred to as "Smith Family Butts on Vacation" (not Smith, but you get the idea)
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi, I am Vanetta and am trying to get on this cruise. We are DVC members and hoping that space will come available before this ship sets sail in Aug. 2008. I am friends with Cinderella Mom and family.

Well I'm sure there will be openings, as people do cancel for a number of reasons. If you do get on then :welcome: :welcome:
Also here is some pixiedust: for you
