Aw thanks Lisa! Really I felt horrible at the time, but now it's just a good story to tell over a couple of drinks.

Good Night Margaret

Andy, what the heck are you still doing up Pal? Innocent my foot, remember, I met Randy :lmao:

I gotta catch some shut eye!

It was fun spending my snow day with all of you!

Good Night!

Good evening everyone! I finally caught up (briefly - I'm sure I'll be behind again soon :rotfl: )

I loved all the  stories of meetings, engagements, weddings, etc.!

We don't really have anything that fun to tell... DH & I are not totally sure when we met - we both hung out with the same group of friends and met somewhere or other around campus. He was a freshman and I was a sophmore (this was college) and I had just transfered so most of my new friends were either transfers or freshman. (I spent my freshman year at William & Mary in VA but the weather and the social life drove me nuts so I came back to the midwest) Over time, we just started spending more and more of our time together. One day a mutual friend came up to us at dinner at the school cafeteria, sat down and said "are you two dating or what?" which was pretty much the first time is occured to us that maybe we were actually "dating". We were together through college (4 more years for me and 5 for him since we were doing a liberal arts/engineering 3-2 program). We got engaged during my final year. I knew he was thinking about it since he had arranged with my father to get a ruby during a trip to Thailand (I'm not a big diamond fan, but I love rubies!) For some reason I thought he was going to propose on "sweetest day" in october, but nothing happened - I was really down about it and he kept asking what was wrong. I finally told him and he said something along the lines - oh, if that's all it it - then here! (and handed me the ring) Possibly the least romantic proposal of all  We were married a few weeks after he graduated (1989) and he thankfully did NOT say "I do, eh" (see previous post)! :rotfl: We did get married at the chapel at the college where we met, so that is a little romantic.

Since we are sharing proposal stories, mine doesn't come near as interesting as allshookup, but it was "smashing"!

I first met my husband at a bar, needless to say I imbibed too much and when he asked for my number, I told my friend if you think he is worth it you give it too him. She thought he was, she gave it to him, he called and I waited anxiously wondering who exactly was going to show up (I was a little foggy about the first meeting). Anyways ... We met, went out, had a great time, and dated for about a year and a half.

Well he was all set to propose and planned a very special evening ... Dinner, Cats, cocktails, and ring! Then a week before the show, he asked to borrow my car (little did I know he was on his way to pick up my ring). On the way home from the jewelers, he was rear ended and pushed into the car in front, $2000 damage to my car (that was a lot in 87). Anyways, he felt he had to make it up to me so he popped the question that evening.

The car wreck should have been a warning. We lasted 10 years, and are now divorced. It was an amicable split, and we are actually better friends now!

Oh I guess I skipped that part. Did I mention they were in the hotel bar when this all started? The demon rum always plays a part! ;)

Diane, I feel for you, I really do, but I just can't stop :lmao:

I have this picture in my head of your mom flinging her shoe and pocketbook around.

Once again, you show your sweet side to us. :)

Reading your post made me remember that Valentine's day does have a special place in our heart here. DH proposed on 2/1/97...while we were walking thru the mud pit they were clearing for more homes in our neighborhood...but it is the thought that counts. ;) Definantly unique! Anyhow, my 30th bday was 2/10, and then we drove up to VA to visit the family and take my sister up on her offer to get us a discount on a ring where she worked. That was 2/14. The man at the counter asked me if the ring was going out of the store in the box or on my finger. I looked at DH2B and said that the only way it was going on my finger was if he was down on one knee. DH quickly said...in the box. :rotfl: After dinner he came into the room where I was sitting, got down on one knee and proceeded to make me cry. He said that he hoped that he would make me as happy on my 80th bday as I was on my 30th.

Lisa, that made me cry!!! :sad1: Is DH still so romantic????

Oh no!!! Just realized my Doctor appointment for cholesterol check is tomorrow am. Thought it was for Friday. Does anyone know how many hours you have to fast for? I just ate a grapefruit.

I was always told nothing to eat after midnight the night before the test.

Umm...you aren't bringing any of your extended family on the cruise with you, are you?

What an awful story, yet somehow funny. Sorry that your big day had such an awkward morning after.

OK, that's it, I'm all caught up and I'm off to bed. At least this way I know where I left off.

Night All

Pamela I think it's very romantic. It must be true love if you guys just sort of drifted together like it was meant to be.
