Hey...

... the funny stuff should not be affected by restraint against "fluff"... and may I say anyone else is welcome to fluff the thread as much as their heart desires. As - I will admit that from time to time I may feel like goin' nuts and posting fluff a bit too... sometimes. But for now I do want to let some other folks have some posting space - I've been a "hog" with 900+ posts and some of my stuff has clearly been fluff to creep up on "00" when we were 15 away. That's fun - but maybe not so hot all the time.

I say .... ther should be NO RULES when we get close to the "000" and especially "0000" postings. It's TAKE WHAT YOU CAN with no footnotes... and dare I say... there will be blood running over keyboards right after we all sprint for the 100,000th posting. That might come to pass in less then 320 days if we average 250 postings a day.... yeah... ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND. The summaries every 500 postings are gonna need a summary every 10,000 on that! What a hoot, eh?

Crash, you better not slow down! Not only do I enjoy all your cartoons, but you mathmatical calculations are awe-inspiring. How else would I know that I better not make any plans during the month of December so that I don't miss the 100,000 post. Santa-smanta! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Fluff or no Fluff. :lmao: I think you are all friendly and nice for pirates that is!!! :thumbsup2 I now understand no one is ignoring, its just that you could never be at present time. Things have slowed down but you all make it fun!!! With that I am going to say goodnight.:woohoo:

I so totally agree about clothes for boys! I only have one child - DS7 - and since there are almost no girls anywhere else in the family either, I almost never get to shop in the huge girl sections. Always stuck in the tiny boy secions which is totally boring with everything in brown, navy blue or black. Do they think boys don't like color? What is wrong with Red, Orange, Green, bright blue, etc?

This is "spirit" week as DS's school and tomorrow is supposed to be mis-match day where they wear clothes that clash. Since ALL his pants are either jeans, khaki colored or brown (no other options being available) how on earth do you have anything clash with that? I'm thinking I'll have to layer him with a red turtle neck (all others are grey, navy blue or white!) and dig out a bright colored T-shirt that clashes. Of course, that means I have to force him to wear the turtle-neck shirt and practically rip his ears off getting it over his head! :rotfl2: I always buy them at least 1 size too big and its still a struggle to get them over his head...

Good night all. Happy Shoveling for those in my neck of the woods.

Good Night Laura!

I gotta turn in too! The nervousness over my DD has wiped me out. Seems like she's down for the night though so I'm gonna try and get some shut-eye.

Good Friends!

HI All --

Took a day off to get some work done . . .LOL Seems like you pirates having been busy partying without me.

What do you think about buying shipboard credit for DH for Valentine's Day.:love::love: He's always tough to buy for any holiday. Thought it would be cool. Does anyone know if Stateroom credits are transferrable later? Just in case . . .

Thanks a bunch

I'm buying a stateroom credit for my hubby. I'll get him a credit for each holiday or gift-giving occasion until we cruise.

Don't know what you mean by "transferrable" in this case? I do know that the credits are applied to the total for that stateroom account, and any unused portion of purchased credits (not incentive credits like onboard booking or TA incentives) will be refunded in the manner paid.

Again I will explain what I meant by the word "fluff" was posts with NOTHING in them- but a smilie or discussing the run for minis/etc. I did NOT mean posts with jokes, chatting, having a good time and making funnies, etc. I meant fluff as in fluff= nothing of ANY merit in the post whatsoever except to post to get closer to the mini.
We are not looking at the word fluff in the same way so I will not use that word again so there won't be any miscommunication.

Your funny stuff, images, etc. is not what I would consider "fluff in the run for minis", atleast not in my opinion! We enjoy those posts! :)

Crash & everyone...the chatting that we can do before the cruise helps us to build a sense of community here as we get to know about each other. Over the next 18 months we are going to share a lot with each other. That isn't going to be limited to just pure planning posts so we can still joke around with each other. The thread is going to be huge no matter what. I have a tally of 429 people just in our immediate families...NOT counting all of the friends & family members traveling with us. That many people are going to generate a lot of posts. It is the fact that the numbers were being pushed up by so much pirate: talk that many were concerned that it was adversely affecting the view of some of those trying to decide if they should jump into the fire & join in. We have been told that is is overwhelming...and I agree with that even as someone who has read/skimmed over every single post on the thread from the beginning. :scared:

I know that many of us have been involved on much smaller cruise meets threads. I can only speak for myself, but on our last cruise we developed strong bonds with our fellow DISers as we prepared for our cruise over 18 months. We were there for each other thru illness, death, births, struggles and challenges. I know that personally that group helped me get thru a very long year with DH gone for 10 1/2 months working on his graduate degree. On the cruise we did connect more with those who had kids the same ages as ours but we did reconnect with everyone in the evenings at dinner.

Having so many people join in at the beginning of the thread's existance has been mind boggling. It usually starts out with a couple & grows as the cruise gets closer. This group's size is getting intimidating even to me so I can understandd someone who hasn't been as involved in the boards before being hesitant to join in. I hope that everyone feels comfortable enough to join in and say hello. There are many things listed on the first page that people have come forward to help with. If there is something that you would like to do that isn't on that list PLEASE contact me and I will be more than happy to introduce it to the group. This could be a group tour in a port booked outside of DCL. Everyone's input is welcome. :goodvibes

Lisa always says it best. :thumbsup2

G'nite folks! My poor bruises (from the roller-skating yesterday) are telling me they need some rest  I'm sure I'll be terribly behind again come tomorrow. Maybe the snow will be so bad I'll have to stay home for a while tomorrow morning as they clear the roads :woohoo:

So is a post consisting solely of a picture of a jar of fluff a "fluff" post or not?

So - what amounts to a "fluff" post? I would like to acknowledge that if we toned it down a bit then we might have a better flow here - and it would make for a better community over the next 18 months. I actually decided this past weekend to lay off a bit - as I was getting overtaken in total count - and it just wouldn't end until someone gave in - so I decided to lay off and revert to quality in my posts. Hence I have dropped to maybe a dozen or so a day in the past couple of days. And my posts had one lengthy or time consumptive one a day - generally. The recoloring of the Captains' R/C plane took me a while to make - and the travel idea by Train a couple days ago took me a while to create too.

So - maybe we should knock off the sprint to 20,000. We know what is possible if we get enuf of us into a silly "spreading" mood. And that is not very attractive to new folks looking in on our community here.

With that in mind - I'm going to drop a couple notches in intensity - and resume the posture I took a couple days ago. No "fluff"... just real replies where I feel they are warrrented. 'K?:thumbsup2

I've certainly enjoyed your posts. Your graphics often have a on-topic visual appeal and I thought the Amtrack vs. driving analysis was informative. I do expect the board will slow down naturally due to the extended time frame and figured the run for the "mini's" would run its course anyway, but if you're going to error, error on the side of "fluff". :thumbsup2 :hippie: :goodvibes

Good for Kimberly!!

I noticed today that the WB repo is also a sellout... I have a feeling that the 2009 Repo will cost quite a bit more than the 2008. The demand is totally unreal!

We booked this cruise in large part to DW's belief that this would be the last repo, given the all-but-inevitability of a third ship (that, and the relative value we got for it). However, it now seems clear that (a) there will be more repos, and (b) the prices will be much closer to double the Mexican Riviera's rather than what was, in our case, only $1,000 more for eight extra nights.

I tend to agree with you that the next repo...and due to the demand & money being made of of the 2008s there will be more...will be more expensive. I am so glad that we jumped onboard this one now so that we can experience it without as much hurt on the wallet.

2) What are you having/HAD for Dinner tonight? McDonalds

I just had to share something here...

When i skimmed your replies here I had to instantly pause and ... INVOLUNTARILY I thought.... "MMMMM"..... I could smell the french fires....

..... and then I thought - how funny.... just the other day we drove past the local McDonalds and I said to my my older daughter in the back car seat ... "look sweetheart, they tore down the McDonalds".... and before I could say another word she started screaming... "Yeahhhh!!!! .... Hooorray!!!".....

Now her reaction may take some explainin'... you see... my DS is fairly health concious while I am generally health UN-concious.... and she otherwise is always chiding my dietary inclinations and getting me to agree to "deals" where if I get anything to eat that is on my "bad" list then she gets something out of me ... generally it's money. IE, If I get a pastrami sandwich then I gotta give her 50 bucks, or if I buy a hamburger then it's $5 for her on the spot. No renegotiations or squirming. AND... my kids are usually self regulating to make "healthy choices" for diet along the lines of what we teach them is healthy to eat.

WHich brings me to McDonalds. I have been known to come home with a McDonalds napkin or cup mysteriously in my car. I have not the faintest clue how it got there. So ... my dear BIL in Boston sends an email to my spouse to check out this movie with me called ... SUPERSIZE ME. It's a documentary/movie relating the 30+ days where a normal fit man adheres to a McDonalds only diet for 30 days. Skipping all the story except one defining moment which my daughter sometimes remarks on - about mid way through the 30 days the subject relates his ill state and abruptly throws up out the car window... and my daughters are fixed in shock. SHOCK. And they often will quip as we drive by a McDonalds... that we ARE NOT going there. I can't get them to go for it or near the place. Hence... when I said "look, they tore it down"... and my girl starting hooting with joy!!! Later I told her they were remodeling it and were probably gonna rebuild it. She was totally SILENT for a while after that remark....

I thought you and others might find that little story ... amusing.....

Now if you'll excuse me I have a pavlovian urge for some fries but I have a long drive to satisfy my urges... what am I to do???

You should come here to shop. I stand in the boys' department saying, "Why is EVERYTHING yellow, orange or red? My kid looks awful in ALL of those colors. Where's the navy? Where's the white?"

When I posted it, it was 1/2 humor and 1/2 fluff (but 100% artificial flavors & colors).

Send me to the Mickey Jail. I posted Fluff, and now I'm posting about posting fluff. I must be stopped. ;)
