You are so right!!!!!! They can do pretty do much whatever they feel like. I booked specific rooms twice. The first time DCL called to say my room Cat 8 #7008 was swithched to 8576 A Cat 5 just two weeks before the cruise. The second time I booked a Cat 7 hidden verandh and kept the same room number for a year. There is no rythme or reason why thay do anything!!! Once DCL gives a verandh, it is hard to ever go back to anything else. They hook you.

That is part of the gameplan overbooking lower Cats, that are cheaper. Balancing the people there, against higher Cat rooms being undersold, that allows UPGRADE's, and then Cruisers who are lucky are very pleased and 'hooked' on higher Cat's, I now only go for CAT 4's, its like travelling First class on a plane, expensive, but once you have done it, you cannot go back to Economy!!!

Hi Everyone! It's taken a while to catch up today. I left at 4pm yesterday to take DS7 to his school's "Family Skate Party" at a local roller rink. By the time I got home, I was in too much pain to even DIS! Ugh - I hate roller skating - give my ice skating any day DS7 had never roller skated before, so I had to teach him, hold him up, try and keep my own ballance as he fell, get tripped up by his skates, etc. Today, I am bruised and battered but surviving - DS7 of course is perfectly fine and isn't even stiff!

I'm so bummed I missed the Police on the Grammy's last night I saw them in concert when I was a freshman in college '83/'84 and really enjoyed their music. Actually, I enjoy a lot of Sting's music separate from the band as well. I would love to see them again if they tour, but I suspect that getting tickets would be tough.

I suppose I will fall behind again the afternoon/evening. Gotta take DS7 to his Irish stepdancing class and then DH & I have choir practice. We are singing a 'concert' version of HMS Pinnafore, so all the references to the sea and ships keeps me thinking about this cruise even at practice

I agree with BBB (or BIP) about keeping track of the cubscout animals - DS7 is currently a Wolf and it all just confuses me. They seem to think we all just know how this stuff works. I had to buy DS a vest this weekend at the scouting store because someone finally told me that is what we are supposed to put all these extra patches on. Although I had managed to figure out where the ones went on the uniform shirt - I didn't have a clue where all the other ones went! DS did the Pinewood Derby in absentia - we were on the Magic when ours was run, so he made his car and gave it to one of the other kids in his den to race it for him!

You did not worry for the next 18 months, you will need a holiday by then, you are booked to go, you will go. So will all others who have GTY's unless they cancel.

I had a Cat 4 GTY last time, only allocated after the 90 day pay up time, but still a very good room in a very good location.

I am not worried about being in a GTY status, I am just annoyed. Say that rooms open up after the pay off date. Even if they have assigned me a room, I can not try for these open rooms (if that even happens) because I am GTY. Just annoyed that they put us this way.

As of earlier today, they were calling for a wintery mix here, but that will probably change. DS is hoping for anything as long as school is closed, I can't say that I blame him as they haven't had one snow day this year.

We are getting slammed here . Have 3 inches of snow from last night and getting 6 more tonight. Going down under zero too. We are paying for are nice warm December. The highest it has been is 17 degrees in the last 3 weeks. The average is usually 33 degrees by now.

You can also get the So. Cal. CitiPass at Costco and Costco.com. Current price is Adult $210, Kid $170. They also have some hotel $ on their website. I've also seen "Play 4 Days" DLR passes at Costco stores, as well as discount passes to other theme parks like Legoland and SeaWorld.

Also, though GC is closer and has a private entrance into DCA, all of the hotels are very close, 10 minute walk or less. And, we try to get to DL 30 minutes before opening. There are characters on Main Street, plus DD likes to play on the fire truck.

And why is it that Schaumburg Twp. cannot clear their roads? I drove all the way from Bolingbrook to Schaumburg this morning, then from Schaumburg to Arlington Heights, and the ONLY snow-covered roads I encountered were Schaumburg Road and Roselle Road. Is Woodfield Mall not bringing in enough money any more?

Hi micmse2003 - we had about 2" last night where we are. Current temp is a "balmy" 29*F, but it looks like we're going back to the deep freeze - although they are forcasting into the mid-30's next week. I sure hope we don't get the 6" they are talking about tonight/tomorrow.

Note to other CHicago area DISers - based on a couple PM's it looks like we would prefer to wait for springtime and better weather before planning a mini-meet here! If you want to PM me that you are interested, I'll try and contact everyone come spring. Maybe we should all just hibernate until then!

I took her in at 9:30. She was just on the couch letting her skin air and be doused with the lotion watching Dora. She wanted to go to school. They get their homework on Friday and it is due the next Friday. It is only a few sheets of math & spelling work. The rule of 20 minutes for 1st grade means that they had to send home permission slips to give the kids anything else in addition to the 20 minutes of reading they are suppose to do every night. Anyhow, she sat down Saturday afternoon before we went to dinner & did all of it. She wanted to show her teacher that it was done & she wanted more! She ate breakfast & said that she didn't feel sick at all ... so off to school she went.

This sounds like my dd....she is also in first grade. She loves to do homework! I know this won't last long.....
