I'm sure it wasn't me but back in '05 we were doing the family cruise on July 23, 2005. On one of the last nights - the DCL rep made an announcement that there were still openings available on the EB repo - we checked the next day and we were able to book 2 connecting cat 10 - on deck 1 mid ship - which was all fine with us.

It ended up that the older kids couldn't do it as school started on the 17th - :sad2: for them but we were able to take the youngest - another decision we agonized over - but as it was "Once in a lifetime" trip - we did it! Anyways, we gave up one cabin and took the other one and it was awesome! Highly recommend it if anyone gets the chance.

We ended up getting a pretty good deal pricewise not too much higher (if at all) than the opening day I believe but I was happy to get on it at all - as this cruise. And we booked about 22 days before sailing!  Can you imagine that happening here?

And you get to go again! That is great! I have a feeling things will simmer down in the next year....LOL :lmao:

 what this !..tuxes? what kind of pirate wears that? me ain't
no cross dresser! davey jones..be flippin in his locker, that's for sure..

:wizard: pirate: , the swashbuckler! :rotfl:

OK here's my take - Happy Birthday - ALan, Kandi and Lisa.

Sorry - no big graphics - haven't figured that out yet!!!!

But please have some :cake: :bday: :cake: for us all - party on - pixiedust:

Happy Birthday to Lisa, Alan and Kandi! Hope you have a great day!

I was just looking on the webpage and discrazzy either just turned in their info or they got room assignments! I know because one of their rooms is one of the obstructed view cat 7's that I asked my TA to try for, on Sunday when they said they were going to be working on it Sunday (and haven't heard a word about it since then). It wasn't on that list because I looked and now it's there! And they have a cat 11 down the hall too! Congrats on the snag of the obstructed view room! (one of them atleast) :)

It does appear to me that there are a lot more on the "rooms assigned" part than there was before... quite a few people have assignments. I know mine was booked rather early because of the price we got- yet we're gty. So strange. Maybe most of those people were on the waiting list with IC?

Capt JS - how's the weather up there? We were comtemplating going up thar yer ways this weekend but decided that we'd wait until this upcoming weekend.

We usually visit about 6-8 times a year. Last time was on New Years!!! Had a great time - :thumbsup2 love yer neck of the woods!

I don't have any ideas for you (unless you wanna swing by Texas LOL) but you have made me start thinking! Our first WDW trip was during the holidays and short notice (just found out DH was being "forced" into his vacation time by way of lay off- so instead of taking the money we had to take the time off and had nowhere to go, no family to spend the time with, etc. so we hopped in the car and head to WDW- before I even found this board... LOL We were so naive then but I digress) and since then our trips have been on short holidays or the kids missing some school (or trips to WDW in the summer but without DH) but you just now made me realize- this cruise is starting in the summer for us. DH isn't crazy about Disney anyway (hence the reason we've made some trips without him) so now I'm thinking hmmm, I could potentially drive down earlier with the kids, without DH losing even more days off work and then he could fly to meet us shortly before the cruise (like the day before- I wouldn't cut it too close). That's definitely something to think about!

I'd have to find out some info about where to leave our vehicles during the cruise though. I don't imagine if you stay at a Disney resort and go on a Disney cruise that you could leave your vehicle there?
And on the way back- oh nevermind... no can do. My vehicle would be in CA but I couldn't take the time to drive back! The kids have school then! Well it was a thought... I guess maybe rental vehicle to leave in CA and fly back? I dunno.

How about renting a car? This would have no parking or wear and tear on your car... but would incurr a likely drop charge.

Coming back from Florida to TX is another issue... probably all fly one way. Unless driving again on a one way is a consideration.

Check the mapquest driving ranges and times involved to see if you really want to do this.

It is possible to get good deals on one ways. I know of a MOTOR HOME MANUFACTURER who will give you ONE WAY rentals for $48 or less a day from AZ to LA! You get the RV for something like 3 days and 700 free miles... enough for modest diversions... so you could see Vegas or the GRand Canyon on your way out here. I thought it once as a one way flight to AZ to dog leg to the GRAND Canyon.... then wander back to LA.

Never got around to it though.

What do you think of that?

Here is a link...

You can get a special for up to 6 days rental and 1500 miles.

NO!!! Keep working on him. I don't want to have the only one in uniform. (and they certainly are arm candy) Just have him wear the one he likes - it's not like the uniform police will be on board.

DH is his own uniform police! And it really is almost identical to what the crew wears on formal night. DH cringes at the female crew members who have their hair down in uniform. You see, DH went from Catholic school to military college to active duty. He's been in uniform since he was 5.

What branch are you?

Is it he who doesn't want to wear it or you and him both? I think it would be great for him to proudly wear his uniform. :thumbsup2

I'm all for the uniform, but this one really does look like the crew. Here's a random google picture (not DH):

has anyone every noticed the lady cm walking the decks with a clip
board. she looks very serious and never speaks. always observing...who
is she and what's her job..funny, i frist saw her 2 cruises ago and
each one since..:confused3

DH & I like to play "I spy a security CM" on the cruise. They are very obvious once you know what to look for!

I am so glad to hear that from such experienced cruisers. DCL is all we have known for now....but we like no casino and the family friendly environment.

Bulls eye on those two points!

But the list does not end there...

Conde Nast readers survey of 161 cruise ships in the global fleets ranked the DCL Wonder as #3 in the world for top service among large cruise ships. Personally, we've always thought the ships were maintained in superb condition, and the theaters were (and may still be) the largest stages at sea! Certainly, we like the fact they are free of obstructions - and boast high order stage craft and productions. And there really is so much more beyond that!:thumbsup2

And you get to go again! That is great! I have a feeling things will simmer down in the next year....LOL :lmao:

Yeah - I don't think I gave DH a chance - told him that I'd "strongly" wanted to attend- the family cruise he has no choice - we celebrate 2 birthdays and 1 anniversary within 4 days and what a better way than to have DCL help you celebrate? I'm a closet extrovert and rather shy :lmao: to boot but I do like to make big deals of special days!

Anyway, the EB was a given but WB we're unsure if DH is going sooooo may be looking for a trevel buddy at the last moment -but I know that barring any unforeseen problems - I will be on there also!!!:woohoo:

On the 11 nite sailing last September I was walking the ship with my DIS neighbor passing out fish extender stuffing novelties and treats - we had a couple of strollers in use to carry the stuff and we eventually picked up a ships officer shadowing us. THAT was security.... no Q about it. Of course, we were making our rounds at something like 2AM.... which for my DIs neighbor and I amounted to only 11PM since we were both from Caifornia.

How funny!
So what happened? Did the officer keep following you unti you were done or finally say something or stop following you after they realized what you were doing or what?

OMG! :scared1: I just realized that the CM walking behind me at 1 am wasn't going back to his room after coming off duty - he was 'shadowing' me! Of course - it didn't help that I was lugging bags and hidden pouches!

I caught him behind me several times and slowed down several times yet he never caught up to me - :scratchin aha - now I know! :headache:

Me and my DIS pal were talking pretty casually... it was obvious we were passing out treats and stuff to all the fish extenders - and we had boxes of stuff in our strollers... so he shadowed us for maybe 2 decks then left us alone. :confused3 He did look pretty serious when we first spotted him shadowing us... almost mean looking. He was definately some kind of security sort.;)
