Tomorrow I was going to start my older girl on piano lessons...

How long has your child been doing it? Have you achieved what you expected with the lessons? :confused3

Hey Crash, I saw a big piano sale over at Cal Luthern University today while out bike riding. Are you still in the market?

I don't know yet...

... we were gonna start lessons tomorrow - and I have to see how it goes... I swung by Piano Concepts (is that what they call it) on T.O. blvd by the Dennys' and they rent for $50-60 a month and sell new uprights (the short one) for $1299 (Yamaha). I also looked at Costco - but became discouraged with their inventory after I was counseled by my best friends' sister (who is a concert pianist) to stick with an acoustic piano...
:confused3

So Goofy...

... we're virtual neighbors! How many DCL voyages have you had? We're at 4... with the PC being our 5th with any luck...:thumbsup2

We have only done one so far. Mexico in 2005. We are heading to WDW/Wonder in June. So TPC will be #3. We did Alaska on Princess last summer R/T from San Francisco.

Hi neighbors Goofy and Crash. Where is the rain? I see you two are keeping the night shift going here on the West Coast. I wish I could stay up with you guys, but we have to be on the road at 5:30 am. We are heading to a Taekwondo tournament in Murrieta and DH has to be there bright and early as he will be judging. One of these days I'll pull a late nighter with you both!

He has been taking a little over 3 years now. I think he has progressed very well. He always complains when it's time to practice, but I just LOVE hearing him play. It's so nice and relaxing to hear him fill the house with music.

His teacher is an elderly woman that teaches piano out of her home to about a dozen or so kids just for a little extra something to do. Her pricing is very reasonable, and she is an excellent instructor. She always tells the kids that "sports are just great, and you should definitely participate in them....but when your old like me, you may not be able to play sports anymore.....but I can still play piano!" She's so cute!

1) You can take a picture of it.

2) I have heard if you talk to the head waiter, they will give you a copy.

My lead waiter just stuffed the menus into my stroller every nite after I asked her once... she was all smiles and suggested I keep it quiet...

I'm sure we're not the first to ask for these things... :lmao:

We are doing the same trip out of SF this summer, but they have changed the ship from the Regal to the Dawn Princess. Did you like the trip? We are really looking forward to it.

Just a little Captain Jack for you all before I head off to bed.

I'll tell you mate, if every town in the world were like this one, no man would ever feel unwanted.
Pretty much sums up this group of DIS'ers.

See ya tomorrow!!!

Go with an acoustic. We have a Steinway upright and there is nothing like it. We inherited it from an Uncle. I have had a electric keyboard for about 5 years which I learned how to play on. Our upright is a special one that has the same acoustics as a grand. The sound is awsome.

You know what...

... this is along the lines of what I was thinking ... among other things. My daughter is active in sports - so that is covered. But as I grew up I had no opportunities to learn an instrument. I would have LIKED that if I could turn back the hands of time ... as I am not as atheletic as I used to be (cough - cough).... ;)

I hope the lessons go OK tomorrow. I am trying out a 10 week sit down at a music store / school of sorts. It is cheap. Then later I was thinking of doing in house lessons or somethihng along the lines of the next logical progression ...

This make any sense? :confused3

You have a .... STEINWAY.... Woooooow!

:worship: :worship: :worship:

I may be a virtual "kno - nuttin'" ...

but I know a Steinway is N-I-C-E

Good night Mary! I see that you volunteered for Disneyland duty. I will be more than willing to help you out with that.

Just checking in with my pirate mates . . been busy doing work tonight. Can't believe how cold it is here, but it is getting warmer . . .

That would be great, especially now that I've added a Wench's Tea to my list! I just figure that since we are here in So Cal we can be helpful to all the people coming from out of state.

I had to repost this...

... as I re-read your posting. So - your upright has the tonal qualities of a GRAND? It must be quite TALL. And as for what we'll get... I am just gonna start with the lessons tomorrow and hope she takes well to it initially. Then in a few days we'll get something. What... I don't know as yet. An inexoensive acoustic is the way to start - but why waste money on something I don't want to see around the house? I want something N-I-C-E if I'm to spend any money. SO the temptation to get an inexpensive electronic is ... there. IE... Costco baby grand for $699.

Maybe I should swing by Cal Lutheran to check out the deals tomorrow?:confused3

Okay done with laundry switchover and folding but now Kokomo is DEMANDING her time out of the cage! (she's a parakeet- hand trained- she knows when everyone goes to sleep and Tramp, the dog, is off in son's bedroom that she gets to get out of the cage with mommy, aka BBB)

So I'll have to talk later taters.
