OK, I am taking a break from the site info. Here are the stats as of now.

364 DISers

60 families entered for info
47 families still need to be entered for the DIS bios.

Are there really 318 Disers on this cruise? ISn't that about 1/5?

Any other MNer's out there? Even any cheese heads?

I think the total count is up to 351. The capacity according to the DCL brochure is 2,400 (1,754 based on double - 877 rooms). However, they said that 2,700 were on our sailing in January.

If you use 2,700, we'd be at 13% at the current 351.

BTW, we're cheeseheads.

Cool! :woohoo:
Thanks for your hard work!

Took me all day (here and there) to catch up with you guys! Occasionally I'd check the last page and post something but mostly I was just trying to catch up. My posts to catch up:

Mary Ann- thanks. I am feeling good so far. I feel just the slightest like a "headache is coming on" or might, those of you that have felt this know what I mean. But I've been drinking water all day and no soda. :)

Caroline- that was my sentiments exactly when I saw the picture of the "Magic roundabout" in Swindon. There is no way in the world I could drive that. Even looking at an above picture like that and studying it for awhile I couldn't figure it out. I can't imagine trying to DRIVE IT. egads...

Caroline- UIL stands for University Interscholatic League. I had never really thought of it only being in Texas but I did some researching online today and apparently UIL was started by the University of Texas at Austin and all the regions of school in Texas participate in it. In the case of band- they have concert band UIL competitions as well as individual solo and ensemble in the individual schools. Ruby did a solo- which consists of being given music (in highschool you choose your music usually from a list of music the band directors have chosen or perhaps they are given it by the UIL board) and she had to practice it and then play it for judges that come to the school but are not part of our school. (in other words they are not judged by our own band directors or teachers so there is no possibility of biase- the judges don't know these kids at all and thus can judge on the basis of the music they played and how they played and that's it) They are given a ranking of 1, 2, 3 based on many different judging qualities of how they played the music. Think of it sorta like a dog show- the dogs are judged on how closely they match THEIR breed's standard. Well say if you're playing solo, you're playing the music and they are judging you on how well you played that music to the standard of how it's supposed to be played- it's not judged against some other child playing some other music choice. KWIM? And ranked by how well you played the music that you chose/played. So in other words others could play completely different music but if they played it closely to exactly how it was supposed to be played- in tempo, tone, accurate note & rhythm, articulation, etc.- then they also could get a 1 rating. In theory, every single person could play different music and get a 1 rating- if they all played it perfect or close to perfect on the music they played. It's competing to do well at playing the music you're playing, not competing against one another to play better than one another. So getting a 1 means she played the music perfect or near perfect, it doesn't mean she played better than anyone else or beat anyone else. Understand?

UIL is not only for band though- they do for athletic, music, drama, and academic contests/judging. In the band area- they do concert band (where entire bands play together), solo (playing by themselves, like Ruby did) and ensemble (a group of players play the same music together and are rated all together). Concert band UIL contests are done at different times- right now it was only solo or ensemble. 6th grade UIL solo or ensemble was not mandatory but ruby did it and got a 1 on hers. This year it counts as a test grade (in 7th/8th grade and i'm sure in higshchool as well) -so I'm sure everyone did either a solo or ensemble (or you can do both if you want). Thus her getting a 1 this year means even more than the medal she receives... it is her test grade in band also. :)
More than you wanted to know? LOL

Oh no! The captain is on early (main) dining??? I was sure hoping he'd be on late dining. Who ever heard of an earlybird captain? LOL Darnit. We probably won't ever get to see the captain. wahhhhh (yes, you can call the waaahhbulance on this one. I'm in full fledged wahhhh tantrum)
Oh wait- I see later on he said he'd come see us at late dining. Hurray!

Monica- I like the way you think (10 minis make a full pirate)

Captain- love the images.... they will look GREAT on our red shirts (and DH's black one) teehee

Is everyone switching to early? dang, who is going to be left on late dining with us? *pout*
"that it seemed like some of the better kids club activities were during late seating, and that we were getting ready for the shows at 6:30 anyway, why not eat first then do the show?"
We thought about that too- because we also noticed the kids had better things going on in the lab/club during late dining (and towards the end of the cruise the kids caught on to this and kept wanting to eat super fast and then one of us would have to run them to the lab and club in the middle of our dinner) and because like you said- we were rushing back to get ready before the show then straight to dinner anyway.
However, this time I think we'll be staying with late dining but doing things a bit differently. We will NOT rush back unless the show that night is one we haven't seen before or just want to see again (not seeing every show every night) and if we don't see the show that night- then the kids can go to the club THEN, eat dinner with the club/lab, then do their fun stuff with the lab/club while we go eat dinner alone! Except maybe on specific nights like pirates night and formal (lobster). Because the other nights the kids were not real interested in a lot of the foods offered anyway and kept wanting to leave to go to the lab/club. It just didn't work well with us all going to the show together (while kids in the lab/club were eating) and then our family would go to dinner right when the kids wanted to go to the lab/club to do fun stuff, but if we let them- then they wouldn't have dinner!
OR we may just let them eat other stuff during the show (on nights we don't see the show) and then off to the lab/club without us. In other words- we are not going to be rushing to see every show and not forcing the issue on the kids going to see the show with us and then forcing the issue on them eating dinner with us. We've done it once, we'll be more flexible this time. :)

This time when I board the ship and meet with the dining manager, I will have a copy of the seating paperwork with me to hand him so that he can review each reservation to make sure that everyone is where they are suppose to be.
Have I told you lately how much I love you, Lisa? I hope this time DCL gets it right and keeps us linked up with the DIS'ers! Our family is 5 but on most nights our kids are probably not going to be eating with us. so I hope they don't stick our family at a table by ourselves off in a corner behind curtains and stuff like last time. We wouldn't mind being seated at larger tables with others so we won't be lonely. I'm beginning to wonder if we should just go to early dining... the kids could still eat with the club and then stay there if they don't want to see the show afterwards. It seems like the majority are going to captain's dining!

Caroline:
Oh we had "chairs" and such, but the teacher in JH kind of just seats them based on grade I believe. And believe me, just because the piece is for 1st clarinet does not mean it is harder. Many times it is easier because it is the melody and you actually know what you are playing while practicing!I was just confused with all the different bands you were talking about.
I know. I played clarinet from 6th grade thru college, I think I know what you're saying. LOL Yes, sometimes 2nd clarinet is harder to play with the band playing, but the music on it's own is significantly easier to learn and to play- lower longer notes, etc. 2nd clarinet is usually not as "fun" either. LOL
(sorry about all the different bands- it's basically because all the kids in that age are all in the same school so the band would be too huge to even have classes if they were ALL in one band- so they had to split it up, based on performance/how well they play and apparently how well they audition- but Ruby said she never auditioned or even heard about it in 6th grade so I suspect it was done in the last few days of school when she was gone to go on a cruise!

WOW! There are 20 6 GTYs in the group along with 8 6s assigned a room. You guys could take up one side of the ship!

When will you start being home? You might want to let the May repo know that you aren't going with them. Your name is still listed in the first post. ;)

I hate to admit this ... but I am a big time mutli-tasker in the bathroom!

I bring my notebook in with me as I wifi there! Woo Hooo!

Note to self: Do NOT borrow Crash's laptop.

Now, be careful....we can start discussions that will bore you men to tears, or make your skin crawl at least.....Ladies, do you remember what you would tell your MALE Phsy Ed teacher when you wanted to get out of gym?

I hung in with the ladies (right Magiroux) on the 10-day holiday cruise talking about all sorts of feminine issues. But as told them then, if you start talking about the "Crimson Tide", you'd better be discussing Alabama football.

BUT, if you do happen to borrow it on the cruise, you're never more than 3 feet from the nearest antibacterial wipe.
