I read at Christmas DCL got it wrong and too many people were on the cruise at payment day so they offered a lot to some to bump off, one person said they switched weeks around so instead of DCL>WDW they did WDW>DCL next one so it does happen. They seemed pleased with the offer???

If this happened to me on this cruise....I would NOT be pleased!!!

:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache: ....Aghhhhh, I have to stop thinking about this

Andrew so do you think it was voluntary then? In other words, they offered people something for changing to another cruise instead of being forced out. I guess kinda like on a flight? I am going to have to wrestle my boss to the ground for this time off as it is. If I did that and then got bump, well, I would be sad (and mad)

If DCL did overbook, which I think they may have, I imagine they're expecting cancellations. I imagine there will be and it'll workout w/18 months until sailing. But, if it was overbooked, wonder what it'd take in terms of an offer from DCL to get some one to voluntarily bump? For me, I don't think even a free back to back Eastern/Western Caribbean would do it. Not the same. We're doing the EB Canal due to kids missing no school days, but if they said something like, "If you switch to the WB Panama, we'll give you a free stateroom, plus a 2 Cat upgrade, pick up your tips and give you $1,000 OBC", I'd probably miss you guys a lot come August.:rotfl:

From what I was reading on these boards it worked like airlines overbooking their flights, they contacted some people presume on CATs that were overbooked and asked if they minded being bumped off the cruise and they would get another cruise and also compensation, not sure how much but they were happy with it, maybe an upgrade etc

I presume they ask for people to say 'yes' first, and prefer not to just bump you off.

I would add whilst the 2005 Repo showed full for a long time, availabilty did come near the 90 day payment date when people hopfull to go couldnt pay up, or had other commitments. I am sure people booked last week on the 31st to have the option of going knowing it will sell out, but also knowing they might not go. Basically reserving their place.

The thing is, I was under the impression these people were called relatively late. I don't recall seeing the posts before we left in mid-December for the 10-day but then read about them when we got back. DCL should have known way in advance so I was wondering if something unusual happened that caused them to need to reduce the number of people on-board. That was the only time I've ever read of DCL bumping people.

LISTEN EVERYONE, THIS BEAUTIFUL LOVERLY LADY HERE NEEDS SOME

I really wouldn't worry about this, I have only read about it happening once and usually DCL is very good at managing capacity on its cruise to ensure full at sailing day, last time I had a GTY for the repo allocated about two months in advance, didn’t here of anyone being bumped off and there was some availability at the and when people didn’t pay up, I spoke to one guy who booked just three months before the cruise.

They also auctioned a CAT 9 room last time for Disney charity on EBAY it went for $19k+ and Roy Disney got on, they must keep rooms back for that, and maybe DCL staff who book relatives on the cruise at a discount could be bumped off?

OK, I can't believe I just did this, but I had to share this with a "few" of my closet friends, LOL!!!

I just got a quote for the 5 day sailing of the Magic on 9-1-08 for just Hazel and I in a cat. 11, if I can swing it, and pull it off, I'm going to use this as a surprise 33rd Wedding Anniversary gift to her. The price came in a just a tad over $1200, I first got a quote for a cat. 9, but since it would just be the two of us, the $$ saved from a cat. 9 to a cat. 11, would help cover our tips for the 5 nights.

Can you imagine 20 nights on the Magic in a row and three stops at Castaway Cay within days of itself!!! Talk about your back to back cruises, I think my retirement date of June 1, 2010 might be extended, LOL!!! :rotfl2:

:wizard: Wish me luck, I think I'm going to need it!!!!!:wizard:

SWEEEET!!!! You need to get it on tape when you tell her....priceless :cloud9:

I, too, am trying in vain to catch up on all of the postings here. But from what I can gather, this seems like the best group of DISers anywhere on the board! :thumbsup2 Now all I have to do is find that banner somewhere amongst the hundreds of pages, remember how to update my signature and count down the next 560 days to pure bliss! :hourglass
