"I'm so excited...I just can't hide it..." I just won my dress on Ebay for $49.00!!
Let the dieting begin!

c4aa_1.jpg

Hmmm...we didn't have this comforter in December. Both of our cabins (one Cat. 9 on Deck 2 and one Cat. 6 on Deck 6) had the navy blue comforter with the nautical flags on it.

The Navy one was what I wanted. The other one you can see on the bottom of the picture of the dresser from AKL.We are still thinking it over.

I booked a category 8 today...thought I gotta admit I will only do this cruise if I can get into a 4, 5, or 6! Hopefully one will become available before May!!!

:cheer2: :welcome: IngridRalph :cheer2:

Hope you can sail with us - it's a great crew we have here.

Before I ketchup...It's PICTURE TIME!!!

Since we couldn't talk either of our families into going, Kristina and I met at the Corcoran Museum last weekend to see the 2 photo exhibits - Ansel Adams & Annie Liebovitz (obviously seperate exhibits!)

Look! Pirates at the White House!
(Ask Kristina the names of all of the trees...)
Mandkristinawhitehouse.jpg

And...
since we were talking about old family photos a few days ago, I thought I would show this. This is my Picture Wall. It has been in 6 houses (so far).
We have wedding photos of our grandparents, parent, brothers, pics of how we remember our grandparents, more recent pics of our parents, and stuff from our own little nuclear family (including my senior prom picture - DH was my date!). I love the daily connection to those who are still with us, and it also lets me share those who aren't with my kids. They never met my Mom, but they can point out Nana in the pictures.

picturewall.jpg

M....I love your picture wall. I use a wall by the stairs for my gallery of pictures. It is fun to look at a glance to see how everyone is aging.:rotfl2:

Great picture of you and Kristina!!!!:woohoo:

Our flight is not until 6:30pm when we return on Sept 1 - does this mean that even with DCL transfers we can't use the service? I was thinking of using the service for our luggage and going to the airport on the bus but then renting a car from the airport and going to DTD. Is this possible?

We are not leaving til 3 pm. We could always have a party at the airport!!!:dance3:

Hum. Our flight isn't until 2:40pm. I'm not particularly interested in hanging out at the airport for a long time either - though it is a nice airport. If you take the DCL transfers - what time do they get you to the airport?

Interesting idea - going to the airport, and then getting a car to toodle around. Takes more time, but might be worth it to be rid of your luggage.

The first cruise we were stuck at MCO because we missed the 12:00 pm flight. The health authorities boarded the ship for a surprise inspection.:sad2: We did not get to MCO till almost noon. We did not want to cut it that close this time and have to wait standby til late again. We have a 2:55 pm. flight this time. :flower3:

We could always have a party at the airport!!!:dance3:

Thanks for your kind words!

You know, I debated putting the 25 Tips link in there, but thought there was some good information. I think as long as we use common sense the port will be wonderful! I'm doubly excited as it will be my first visit to another continent!

I am so glad you did add the 25 tips.:thumbsup2 I think it will make people more aware of just using common sense.:rolleyes1

I was really glad you put in the 25 tips, I would have felt so stupid getting scammed, I tend to be too trusting:rolleyes1
First trip off the continent for me too:goodvibes

I got scammed in Mexico on some fake gold once!!!:headache: I will definitely be more cautious.

DW plans to do a little browsing for emeralds too. That's what she went looking for in the Bahamas and ended up with tanzanite instead, so now she's on a mission. I'm a little worried about how safe it will be if we do find something there.

I had three tanzanite rings already so John was lucky last cruise.
I do not have any Emeralds but I would hate to get scammed.:sad2: I am sure DCL will have the where to shop for Emeralds lectures on the Ship.

Wantneed one!!! I tried to google to find one, but no luck so far.
Hmmmm, I wonder what wine.com ships in.

A shipper? Huh. I just googled "wine shipping box" and found a bunch of suppliers. The one with the stryofoam inserts from boxvendor.com is the one that we have. It's about $11 there. Looks like another $5 for shipping. There's one at spiritedshipper.com that folds flat and is recyclable. Might be a nicer choice.

DH says he got the one we used last year at BevMo. With the airline limitations they're becoming much easier to find.

Oh, and after you drink all the wine - you have a nice box to ship home the island liquour you bought and your souvinours. (or however it's spelled).

Oh and back to wine. I like big wines (with most food), I like dry more than sweet, but it needs to be balanced with nice fruit. I like all varietals, but I tend towards chianti, pino grigio, syrah, shiraz. Merlots are hit or miss for me - I've had som OK ones, but never one I love & a few I couldn't stand.

Yikes, I just counted - 4 adults on my last cruise & we must have gone through 16 bottles on a 7-night. 2 wine packages w/ dinner (one for us, one for MIL & FIL) and 2 from our room for shows & walking around in the evening. Gosh, I'm really not that big a drunk, we just enjoy a bottle of wine with a nice dinner!

:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh we are going to have so much fun. Your tastes lie somewhere between mine and DH's. Since the two of use will easily polish off a case between us over 15 days - we'll need to get a package for the table... or two... or bring more wine. :rotfl: :rotfl:

We LOVE V Sattui! DH and I have been to Napa 3 times and make sure to stop at V Sattui on each trip. We love to get there around noon and put together a picnic lunch at their wonderful deli. My kids were with us the last time we visited and still talk about the lunch we had there!

Have you ever been to the Van der Heyden vinyard? It's also in Napa but on the Silverado Trail. It's a very small operations but their wines are to-die-for!

We gave up our June trip to California to do the EB PC cruise so no Napa for us this year. :sad1:

Haven't visited Van der Heyden. Will have to put it on the list. I'm more familiar with the small wineries in Calaveras and Amador counties than Napa. They're closer to home.

I booked a category 8 today...thought I gotta admit I will only do this cruise if I can get into a 4, 5, or 6! Hopefully one will become available before May!!!

WELCOME ABOARD MATE!!

Hope you get your wish in May. I'd think so...

I like the blue much better!!!:yay:

Glad to run into another V Sattui fan. We got the invite for the barrel tasting too, but won't be able to make it.

I remember tasting the Angelica. When we were last there it was a choice between that and the Muscat. Went with the Muscat as we'd had so much luck with it. Only to discover that we'd already purchased several bottles of it on our last trip (same vintage) when we got home! So, now we've got the '05 Muscat coming out our ears. Guarantee we'll have a couple of bottles of it on the cruise. Wanna trade? I'll bring my Muscat if you bring your Angelica. Or if you only have the one bottle - we can trade glasses.

On the other hand - it's a pretty good bet that we'll have this vintage for some time - seeing as how we've got FIVE bottles of it. They turn into a nice dessert wine - without the syrupy sweetness after about 4 or 5 years. Had a bottle once that we lost - it was about 7 years old when we found it. Was like eating tree ripend peaches off the tree. A truly memorable bottle. (seeing as how we drank it in 2000 and I still rave about it!!) :rotfl2:

Haven't tried Mumm. Where are they?

I only have the 1 bottle of Angelica. But that could change. I'm sure I'll visit the winery once or twice (or more) before TOAL.

Mumm is on the Silverado Trail, about 5 miles from V Sattui. Head South on 28 and turn left at Zinfindel Lane. This cuts over to Silverado. Turn right and Mumm is a couple of miles up on your right.

Then, how to get from Hojo's to port on Sunday(with ALL our luggage - YIKES). Is there still someone looking into bus transportation? I wonder if DCL would consider picking up at Good Neighbor Hotels? Any help with this would be great! THANKS!

I've been thinking about this for a few hours - I don't mind co-ordinating the list of people who would like transfer from the DL area to the Port/ pickup times etc. However, could someone else possibly look into a bus company that can take us from DL to the Port / cost? I think someone mentioned possibly having a stop to pick up water / liquor on the way to the Port.

So, if you are interested in going to the Port with the Dis Group from a DL area Hotel - PM me. That way we can get a rough idea of numbers for how many buses needed.:)

Yeah, that would be the one. It's on ebay for $199, which I actually think is a good price. The trouble is shipping it to PA would be wayyyyy to much.

If you fastforward a few pages - it's only $149.99 if you "buy it now".

Thanks. That's from New Year's Day 2006. We're heading down to WDW on Saturday, so hopefully we'll get another new one for the siggie.

Lucky you - have fun visiting Mickey. ::MickeyMo

Feels like we're living in a freezer. Coldest weather this year 17 degrees. Sitting here with a Winnie Pooh jacket on. The little one got sick last week and has now passed it on to everyone. All the sudden he is walking, really comical. The big 1st is this Saturday. :cool1:

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. I have been fighting this horrible cold since before Christmas and it won't leave me alone!! Happy 2008 everyone.

geek_blinding_computer_gif_hg_wht_2.gif

I'm sort of driving by with a couple short postings too. And like you... I am still FIGHTING the same cold I though I had shaken a couple of days ago. As such, I am better now then last weekend - but the coughing I still have has been a real pain. Oh well.... I'm gonna resume glancing backwards through a few more postings before I call it quits.

Sigh,....

 Mornin' All and T.G.I.F.!!!

Congrats Debi on your eBay win!!!

I won this early this morning on eBay as well. I placed my bid at 12:11 this morning, about 90 seconds before bid closing. Chip and Dale are favorites of mine, so when I saw this litho the other day, I knew I just had to go after it. After it arrives, I'm going to have it framed like the other DCL lithos I have. Only trouble is, I didn't get to sleep until after 1am this morning, and boy am I paying for it now.........:lmao:

Ain't that the truth John. I was so cold yesterday, that when I got home I wrapped the heating pad around my feet to get my toes warm..........:lmao:

Another cold start today, but at least it will be a bit warmer today, then up near 60* by Tuesday!!!

OK, the ST just out in a request for a egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, which means I have to sign off for now, see y'all later.......

We're staying at the same place! I sent a email to HoJos this afternoon, to see about airport shuttles. Ill let you know if I hear anything. Coincidently,we'll most likely be arriving about the same time of night on the 15th.
Definitely let us know about any shuttles to take us to the port - Thanks. We are coming in on Wed night the 13th - we wanted to do DL since the opportunity was there - PLUS DS who will be 12 when we fly in will be 13 when we wake up for our first day at Disneyland on the 14th! He will get to spend his first day as a Stinky Teen in Disneyland! But we will watch for you on the 15th :thumbsup2

The 1st MoD walk I did was when I was pregnant w/ oldest DD in 1996. I was about 15 weeks along. It was 12 miles and my friend and I ran the last of it just to be smart alecs to the ones that were huffing and puffing to finish walking.
Little did I know at that time what a difference MofD would make in my own life in just a few months. That baby was born at 24 weeks and would never be alive today if it were not for MoD. They developed Surfactant that kept Megan's tiny fragile lungs from "blowing". I cry every time I see one of their commercials as there is no way to repay the gift they made possible to me.

Also, Roger hug your wife for me. To little preemies (and their parents) the NICU nurses are God. I was amazed and pleased with what they could do for a baby so tiny (1 pound). I will forever be grateful beyond words and deeds how many people helped keep my little Megan with us.

This "little bundle of joy" just called her 8 yo sister a "pig" so I guess all is how it was intended to be. :)

That's a great story Coral!

As another NICU veteran, I'd like to add, hugs and cheers for Cherie also. My full-term, 7 lb., 11 oz. youngest spent day 3-10 of his life in the NICU. He looked like the playground bully and the nurses all took turns holding him (some during their breaks!)because he was one of the few who could be picked up and held. Scariest week of my life. Besides my personal & family crisis, 2 things stuck with me: I don't know how these nurses do what they do & Ronald McDonald House is the best place ever!

Cute story - DH and I are very deliberate in our philanthropy. We have a budget and a plan every year (OK it's what I do for a living...) ANYWAY, this was the first year that we involved the kids. They each got to think and research and decide where we give some of our family's money. DS7 chose Ronald McDonald House to help babies like him. ;)

I sent Jolly Pirates and e-mail asking about their cancelation policy just to have something in writing.

This is the policy:

In the unlikely event of bad weather or in the unlikely event that you r
ship would not arrive we will promptly refund your tickets.

We do not refund tickets for sunburns, over sleeping, good/bad luck in the
casinos, change of heart.

Please let me know if you have other questions.

Sunny regards,

Carla

:thumbsup2 Makes sense to me!

Do you usually bring your wine to dinner and pay the corking fee?

I saw the spirited shipper one, but it made me nervous since you can't SEE the cushioning they talk about. It looks like a regular cardboard wine case. Thanks for looking. I'm going to check out box vendor. I'm sure I'll take it to LA emplty & pick up our wine in Cali. Hmmm, now to find a Class 6 nearby. (I'm going to save so much money this will all be free in the end, right???)

I want to LIVE on Zinfindel Lane!!!
Seriously, you guys are killing me. I've been to almost every state and the vast majority of tourist-y places in the U.S. SF/Napa have always been at the top of my list of places to go & I haven't made it yet. DH has even been there without me.

I found a company called Super Shuttle that can take us from DL to the Port. I was quoted a price of $48 for the first person and $9 for each additional passenger. I was also told that we can set the pick-up time.
