It's been a while, but I think I just do an advanced search and put in mousesurplus as the seller.

Thanks, Mike. I'll try that a little later tonight. It's probably going to get me in trouble. I would love one of the steamer trunks from our DCL stateroom. Man, I couldn't get over how much room we had for storage. I think we were more organized in our cabin on the ship for 4 days than we were on land for the other 10 days. :rotfl:

Guess I am back to my 15 passenger van. :sad2:
I don't know why I fall for these things from DCL.
In our cruises case, the check in does not work either unless you have transfers from PC to MCO or air and transfers. LAX to port would not involve any airport check-in so it does not apply.
So you either have to buy transfers or you are on your own. I still fail to see how this is any different than what happens now. We have a 2:00 flight so it would not pay to get DCL transfers or we would be at the airport forever. I want to do what we did last time which was going to DTD or one of the hotels in the meantime.
Next time there is some kind of DCL "press release" that involves air or transfer everyone repeat "Coral, step away from the computer. If it sound too good to be true, it is!" :)

Our flight is not until 6:30pm when we return on Sept 1 - does this mean that even with DCL transfers we can't use the service? I was thinking of using the service for our luggage and going to the airport on the bus but then renting a car from the airport and going to DTD. Is this possible?

Thanks for the pictures Arlene. I would love to go pokibg around the warehouse, but would probably get myself in trouble. DW keeps trying to talk me into renting a truck one way to buy an entertainment armoire from Animal Kingdom Lodge and drive it home!

My DH now wants that armoire. Here is the pic of it.

It is in my opinion too big for our small townhouse. But the first one would work in the 3rd bedroom which the kids use now when they stay over.

In Napa - V Sattui
Winery of the year, year after year - never had a bad wine of any sort from them. Our favorite trick is to get their Muscat and let it sit around for 3-5 years (usually cause we forgot about it) - not only does the wine hold up for that long, but it's excellent! Don't bother looking in the store for them - you can only get it direct from the winery. Thus, the free shipping box... Of course, being local - you probably already knew that. :rotfl: DH thought I was nuts when I told him to get the free shipping box. "But we're just going home." I had to remind him it would be handy for the cruise. :sad2:

For sparkling wine we like Chandon (just down the road) - they have some very nice wines that aren't so dry your teeth squeek. Try the rose sparkling - yummy! (don't know if they offer free shipping boxes or not - we never get that much)

In WA - Terra Blanca
Yakima Valley. Makes awesome reds. Not a lot of tannin. I'm less thirlled with their Chard. But, hey, their winery dog is one of ours, so we visit a lot.
.

I thought it might be V Sattui.....or at least hoping....'cause their my fav too! Like I said, I haven't gotten the shipping boxes, just the regular case. But next time, I'll ask for the shipping one. I don't have any of their Muscat right now, but I do have an Angelica (Muscat blend) that I'm aging (if I can hold out long enough).

I really want to go to the Barrel Tasting at the end of this month but it coincides with a good friend's son's first birthday. And it's her first child so I think she'd be a little upset if I wasn't there.

Haven't been to Chandon in ages. I usually trek over to Mumm when I get a taste for sparkling.

Yes, you sound like you have a great plan! DCL would check you in for your flights, print out your boarding pass and take care of your luggage. Then you are free to shop, shop, shop!

Esteri.. the wineries sound wonderful.. all we have around here is the fruit wine syurpy stuff in Wisconsin..

but I was thinking about asking at our local wine store and see if he had shipping boxes.. and could recommend some wines to bring..

Or just to the the website of your favorite winery and buy what you like. V Sattui sells over the internet as do many others. Then you get the shipping case for "free". :rotfl2:

With everybody talking about boarding their furr kids, I got to thinking.... Wonder if I can Pre Pay my vet like we can pre pay the CM's tips? Sounds good to me.

Our pet sitter offers a gift certificate of you pre-pay $300 or $600 in services. With our trip being three weeks - we'll prepay at the $600 and apply it to the same trip. Should just about cover the cost. :thumbsup2

is it friday yet???
ugh! i think half weeks of work are worse than full weeks. all my daycare kids are whiny and clingy...nap usually starts by 12:30, and today it did't start til almost 2!!! yikes...by that time it's almost time for them to wake up already!! by the time they get on my schedule this week, it's going to be the weekend, and i'll have to start it over again monday!
oh well...hope everyone is having a good day!!

We're having fun trying to enforce regular bed times in preparation of school starting next week. Having spotty luck.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: If I didn't already have my mind firmly set on diving Aruba - I'd join this shindig just so I could hang this picture.

Wow I know someone famous!

I came up with two responses to this. Like them both equally well - so I'll let you decide wich you like better. :rolleyes1

Ha! Not hardly.

OR

My philosophy is that everyone is famous in their own circles, It's just that some people have bigger circles than others. My circle is pretty small, but you're welcome to it! :thumbsup2

What I have found out from DCL regarding the airline check in is that you must have transfers with DCL (at least one way from the ship to the airport).

Guess I am back to my 15 passenger van.

We have a 2:00 flight so it would not pay to get DCL transfers or we would be at the airport forever. I want to do what we did last time which was going to DTD or one of the hotels in the meantime.

Hum. Our flight isn't until 2:40pm. I'm not particularly interested in hanging out at the airport for a long time either - though it is a nice airport. If you take the DCL transfers - what time do they get you to the airport?

Interesting idea - going to the airport, and then getting a car to toodle around. Takes more time, but might be worth it to be rid of your luggage.

Or maybe we could carpool? Coral - you got any room in the 15-passenger van? Or is your group that big.

I have a DS 13 and DD11 (12 at cruise time) - they are interested in making some cruise friends before we sail. So, if your child would like to exchange emails please PM me - thanks in advance from Karl and Erica.

DS10, will be 11 at cruise time is also looking for a pen pal. I know we talked about it earlier, but I bowed out since the cruise hadn't been officially announced. He's been wanting to get a log on id for the boards, which I've been discouraging. An email pen pal would be better.

Did we have someone organizing this? Uh-huh don't look at me. The shirts are a big enough project for me. :rotfl2:

Not that we will have much money to shop by then - YIKES!

The other thing is how to get from airport in LA to HoJos at 10pm on Wed night - taxi or shuttle?? Any suggestions? Then, how to get from Hojo's to port on Sunday(with ALL our luggage - YIKES). Is there still someone looking into bus transportation? I wonder if DCL would consider picking up at Good Neighbor Hotels? Any help with this would be great! THANKS!

The way I understand it, yes your plan would work. Let them take your luggage and you get a car and enjoy DTD.

When Coral was talking about times, I believe her only concern was that with DCL transfers, they get you to the airport much earlier than she wanted to be there.

Last January we had early breakfast seating and was at the airport by 10am. We got off the ship :sad2: claimed our luggage  and checked it at the Delta Kiosk  and off to the bus we went. I know we could have taken more time getting off the ship so we could have stretched it out but there was no line and we figured that was a good a time as any.

Roger - love the Aruba picture....will definitely use it if I'm able to book us on this excursion

Mike - love the new sig family pic

Glad to run into another V Sattui fan. We got the invite for the barrel tasting too, but won't be able to make it.

I remember tasting the Angelica. When we were last there it was a choice between that and the Muscat. Went with the Muscat as we'd had so much luck with it. Only to discover that we'd already purchased several bottles of it on our last trip (same vintage) when we got home! So, now we've got the '05 Muscat coming out our ears. Guarantee we'll have a couple of bottles of it on the cruise. Wanna trade? I'll bring my Muscat if you bring your Angelica. Or if you only have the one bottle - we can trade glasses.

On the other hand - it's a pretty good bet that we'll have this vintage for some time - seeing as how we've got FIVE bottles of it. They turn into a nice dessert wine - without the syrupy sweetness after about 4 or 5 years. Had a bottle once that we lost - it was about 7 years old when we found it. Was like eating tree ripend peaches off the tree. A truly memorable bottle. (seeing as how we drank it in 2000 and I still rave about it!!) :rotfl2:

Haven't tried Mumm. Where are they?

Arlene

The pics are cool of your day trip up to the Mousesurplus place. Where abouts on EBAY are items listed? I cann't make to the brick and mortar location (just a little too far) but I sure can make it to the internet one. I love things like this.

Their store is http://stores.ebay.com/MouseSurplus - I avoid looking as I want it all and shipping to NZ for a bedroom suite would just be far too expensive :)

Yeah, that would be the one. It's on ebay for $199, which I actually think is a good price. The trouble is shipping it to PA would be wayyyyy to much.

Mike - love the new sig family pic

Thanks. That's from New Year's Day 2006. We're heading down to WDW on Saturday, so hopefully we'll get another new one for the siggie.

Took DS to the neuro surgeon for his follow up. He got cleared to go back to school on Monday. No more house arrest. He won't be back in PE until the end of the month. And no contact sports until March.

But there doesn't seem to be any lasting damage. They were initially concerned about possible hearing loss. But weird thing is it seems as it he hearing slightly improved. :confused3 He hasn't been wearing his hearing aids but he hasn't had to have the TV up as loud as he used to. Could be that he just doesn't really care about paying attention to the programs. We'll be scheduling a full hearing test in a few weeks.

What great News!!!!:yay: :yay:

Oh, yeah, and...

Current Temperature
Eagle River, Alaska: 21* feels like 21*
Alexandria, Virginia: 23*, feels like 11*

It is below freezing. I'm shocked DC hasn't shut down.

Maybe I need to consider Alaska to retire.:confused3 I just considered and Florida wins!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Alaska is beautiful but I like (crashes )plam trees better than pine trees.:flower3:

Did John tell you that you missed that sentence? ;)

Actually Arlene spotted your offer.:thumbsup2 She is willing to sit with us too!!:beach:

Roger....that is to cool!!!:cool1: :cool1:

What I have found out from DCL regarding the airline check in is that you must have transfers with DCL (at least one way from the ship to the airport). You don't have to have roundtrip transfers with DCL. You have to be flying out of the airport the transfers will take you to (in other words, you can't be flying out of Sanford and use the airline check in). I didn't get an answer about whether or not you can use the airline check in from LA or not (because we don't need it :) ), but it sounds like Cheryl will be able to do this.

Yes, Tracy I will be able to easy check from Port Canaveral to MCO. I fly into LAX the day before so I will be handling my own suitcases til I get back to LAX via shuttle from my hotel. I love the part about not claiming the suitcases before going through customs.:yay: :yay:

I will be at MCO til 3:00 pm when my plane takes off. I had an option of noon but was afraid if we got into port late...I would miss the flight.

Back from our roadtrip. The new warehouse is truly in citrus country. The names of some of the roads started with Minute Maid. Nuff said. If anyone had been to the original location at the airport this is larger. But the stuff is all over the place. The bedspread form DCL I wanted was not there but another one I didn't like as much. Saw some furniture and if it hadn't been so deep I would've bought it. See picture ...... There was a lot of STUFF. The best thing we saw was going for $1600 and I thought the Captain might be interested. By the way, it is lifesize.

I would be in big trouble if I lived there!!:lmao: :lmao: CJS would be coming home with me.:rotfl:

the cost. :thumbsup2

.

I kept the 15 passenger van but got an email from USAA on special rates. I checked out a Suburban and it was cheaper than the big van thru Avis.
The Surburban would be preferable as it is what we drive at home so more familiar. I was worried about the luggage fitting but since we will leave our house and pick up Mom and Dad on the way to the airport, we have to be able to fit our luggage in anyway.
If we still have the van absolutely you can ride with us to DTD! :)

Yes, the T-shirts defintely fill you dance card.

Before I ketchup...It's PICTURE TIME!!!

Since we couldn't talk either of our families into going, Kristina and I met at the Corcoran Museum last weekend to see the 2 photo exhibits - Ansel Adams & Annie Liebovitz (obviously seperate exhibits!)

Look! Pirates at the White House!
(Ask Kristina the names of all of the trees...)
Mandkristinawhitehouse.jpg

And...
since we were talking about old family photos a few days ago, I thought I would show this. This is my Picture Wall. It has been in 6 houses (so far).
We have wedding photos of our grandparents, parent, brothers, pics of how we remember our grandparents, more recent pics of our parents, and stuff from our own little nuclear family (including my senior prom picture - DH was my date!). I love the daily connection to those who are still with us, and it also lets me share those who aren't with my kids. They never met my Mom, but they can point out Nana in the pictures.

We're staying at the same place! I sent a email to HoJos this afternoon, to see about airport shuttles. Ill let you know if I hear anything. Coincidently,we'll most likely be arriving about the same time of night on the 15th.

Not even your bed?? :rotfl:

No, I usually, get up at 6 a.m.,so no basking in bed. Usually pouring a cup of coffee and hopping the the Dis to wake up.

Getting it on the ship is no problem. Our last visit to our favorite Napa Winery they gave us a "free" shipping case (free after buying a case of wine). Big box, lovely syrofoam inserts, designed for airline travel. So, it just goes on with the rest of the regular luggage. Used the same trick for our 7-day in 2006 (and yes - between the 5 adults, we went through about 10 bottles. :drinking1 ) left it to the gorillas to bring up and it arrived all safe and sound.

These specially designed shipping cases are built for rough handling. Course, what that does to your wine is another problem. I highly recommend them to anyone planning on bringing wine with them. And yes, you can get them for less than a case.
.

Wantneed one!!! I tried to google to find one, but no luck so far.
Hmmmm, I wonder what wine.com ships in.

Oh and back to wine. I like big wines (with most food), I like dry more than sweet, but it needs to be balanced with nice fruit. I like all varietals, but I tend towards chianti, pino grigio, syrah, shiraz. Merlots are hit or miss for me - I've had som OK ones, but never one I love & a few I couldn't stand.

Yikes, I just counted - 4 adults on my last cruise & we must have gone through 16 bottles on a 7-night. 2 wine packages w/ dinner (one for us, one for MIL & FIL) and 2 from our room for shows & walking around in the evening. Gosh, I'm really not that big a drunk, we just enjoy a bottle of wine with a nice dinner!

7) And for thefinal question posed in 2007 ... by popular demand.... Tell us something about you we (probably) don't know... !

Back in NY and some years ago......I was the co-chair for the March of Dimes Walk America and tripled the amount of money raised in prev. years.

Good for you!

A non-profit development career is paying for my cruise!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Welcome aboard!
