Just a drive by posting to ask for prayers. I've got to get back to the hospital.

Trevoy got hurt playing football today. He fell and hit his head hard on the concrete. He's got a skull fracture and swelling on the brain. So far his neurological tests are all fine. He can respond and move whatever you ask him too. They said it's a small fracture but they are still being very cautious. They've transferred him to a larger hospital 30 minutes away, but they have a pediatric ICU there.

And then when I called my mom to tell her, I found out my aunt probably won't make it through the night. She's my mom's only living sibling. She has a ruptured bowel and is on a ventilator. They can't get her stabilized enough for surgery. She's down in southern CA, about a 9 hour drive. My mom is torn. She doesn't know whether to stick around here for Trevoy or go to see her sis. Although it looks like it may be a funeral she'd go down for.

I'll add you and your family to our prayers this evening. Please take care of yourself, Monica.

OK Captain - please report in.

Just saw on the news that 6 teens were shot getting off the bus in North Vegas. Realizing that there are several million people in Vegas - I just want to make sure all our young swabbies are OK.

Reading this makes me laugh (not because six teens were shot -- I am not that cold) but because it reminds me of my mother-in-law. Everytime there is some incident in Chicago on the news, she calls to see if we are okay. My wife is always telling her there are over 8 milllion people here. It probably wasn't us.

Thank goodness MIL doesn't know that cop accused of killing his wife (and his previous wife) lives in our subdivision....

Prayers go out to Trevor, your Aunt, your Mom and you. :grouphug:

God bless and prayers for you and yours....

Julie, Tom31b and I sure can relate to that.

Eh hem...mine is 5 days after Christmas which maybe doesn't seem so bad, but I'm the day before New Years Eve & with 9 kids in my family I'm sure you can guess the priority of my birthday. I honestly rarely had a birthday celebration other than a store bought cake & certainly no presents. Does that sound like a pity party? ;) Really I can't complain, DH makes sure we go out for a nice dinner every year & it's great because the restaurants are usually very quiet! :thumbsup2

did everyone check out the excursions? they are now up on dcl

Nope I had no idea, thanks for letting us know! I'm going to check them out as soon as I'm done here. :flower3:

Thanks for the heads-up. :thumbsup2
Looks like there are many Acapulco excursions including cliff diving. So maybe this means that we will be there longer than anticipated.

Oh boy I really hope so!!!

i just made my cruise reservations for 2009. im on the aug 15 tortola eastern than on the aug 22 western. it was nice i was able to get the same room for both cruises.

Congrats! :cool1:

The logic of little children. My DD told her pre K teacher last year she was an Indian. When the teacher asked us and we said we were not, we asked Rebecca why she said she was an Indian and she said...wait for it... "Well, I am not a Pilgrim."

Can't deny that logic now can you? :confused3 :goodvibes

Adam owes me some almond m&ms.:sad2:

The ST left about 10 in my coffee mug:rolleyes:

mmmmm almond m&ms & coffee...sounds good to me!

Disney is having a new holiday program for 2007 Christmas on the Travel channel At 7 pm.:yay: Central standard time. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I saw it!!! I swore I'd never go back during the holidays, but after seeing that castle....I think we'll go again in 2009. Next year we already have the F&W & MNSSHP planned again.

hey everyone! it's been a while again...i seem to not be able to keep up here...it's been super busy at home. i can't believe we are at the 9 month mark...it's coming so fast!
anyways, hope everyone is doing good, and gearing up for the holidays. we are trying to get ready here!
i just posted a thread on the main board, cuz i'm trying to figure out the airfare thing. i'm not finding any good rates...has anyone here found decent rates? if you could take the time to read my thread, i'd appreciate it. i don't get on the comp too much at this time, and when you post answers back here, i seem to not get them. so if you don't mind sharing if you got your flights booked, that would be great!

See below....

I'm still waiting for rates on Jet Blue and Southwest Airlines:confused3

Me too!

OMG Monica I am so very sorry! You have really been put through the ringer lately! Please keep us posted!

Happy Birthday Andrew!!!

Esteri, sorry that I missed it. I may not be the best person to ask this of. We normally do day trips but we have stayed at all three hotels. If you have the money the GC has the best location. I really did not think the rooms were anything special but you are connected to California Adventure and only a 2-3 minute walk (from the lobby not your room) to DL. The DLH is the oldest and really the furthest from the parks (you have to walk the length of DTD to get there but the Monorail does run kind of close to it). It has the best pool (Neverland Pool). They will be starting a major make-over starting after the first of the year but will not be finished until 2010-2012. The Paradise Pier is the cheapest and is kind of separated from the main part of resort. You can walk across the street and through the GCH lobby to the entrance to the parks. PP was remodeled not too long ago and for the money is where we stay if we spend the night. They have a rather plain pool area but do have a water slide that is reminiscent of the Magic/Wonder.

I have put together a pictorial guide to each one of them.
Grand California Hotel
Disneyland Hotel
Paradie Pier Hotel

Let me know if you have any specific questions that I can get answered when we are at the parks.

Thanks Roger! That's what I was looking for. I found the links off the website, but remembered you giving a short little description like this.

I'm torn between GC and DLH. I like the location of GC, but I have a feeling we're going to be spending plenty of time at the pool. Since we're on points - $$ isn't as much of a factor.

Gee....did that have anything to do with BAH w/DEP and medical?

We thought about it, but there would be no way to pull it off. If we got married legally before the wedding, we would have had to keep it secret from our parents - keep in mind we were 22yo and DH's family is super Catholic. And since FIL actually married us (he's a deacon), the absense of a valid wedding license for him to sign would have been rather conspicuous.

Nope. But it did have an awful lot to do with DH getting a new posting at Falcon AFB and the USAF not moving girlfriends. So we found his base chaplain and did the deed. Not terribly romantic - but quite practical. Hum. That's rather descriptive.

In any case, the whole thing was to be kept a secret as my DDad was going to perform the service, and we had set a date, and the church, and the presents, etc. etc. etc. It was going to be too much bother to deal with all the questions.

I told my brother as we worked at the same place and it was likely he'd hear and swore him to secrecy - he's keeps secrets good. DH didn't tell anyone.

Little did we know, this was the first official act of a brand new chapliancy. Our marriage made his WAR report. And it made the summary WAR report. And it made that summary WAR report. When DH started getting wedding gifts from coworkers we knew we had a problem. (I mean, who actualy reads those things?) Turns out our marriage made the WAR report for four levels up -must've been a slow news week. Nearly the entire freakin' AF knew. So, much for keeping it quiet... :rotfl2: I just love it that the leak was from USAF. :lmao:

So, we had to call home and confess. :rolleyes1 It was less of an issue for us as they'd already blessed the engagement, and I think Dad was just glad to be rid of his 30-yr-old daughter. :lmao:

And of course we had to deal with all the questions we were trying to avoid. (What about the church. Do we send gifts now? )

That's what DD and DSIL did -- they got married here at the end of Sept --

ANd then had their wedding in Cancun at the end of Oct ---

Roger , let me know if you do look at going your own route , we would be interested cause I know the people who do the Zip Line there website says 6 years old and Destin will be 7 and he wants to do this ...

Sounds good Todd, Austyn will be just shy of 8 when we go.

Me three! Issac will have just turned 7, and I have a feeling he'll want to do this.

Hi Gang!

I talked to Monica while she was on her way to the hospital w/pedi intensive care. This is such a Wonderful support group - she needs all of our prayers & hugs right now. The prognosis looks very good for him - thank God. Boy, she has been through a really rough time lately!!!

Sadly, her aunt did pass away today.

Its tough to have all of this happen during the Holidays!!

This made me giggle, hope you all get a kick out of it :)

Dear All

My thanks to all those who have sent me emails this past year........

I must send my thanks to whoever sent me the one about cockroach eggs in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet towel with every envelope that needs sealing.

Also, I now have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown); who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.

I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program .....

Or from the senior bank clerk in Nigeria who wants me to split $7 million with me for pretending to be a long lost relative of a customer who died intestate.

I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's novena has granted my every wish.

I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward e-mails to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.

Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca-Cola because it can remove toilet stains.

I no longer can buy petrol without taking a man along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm filling up.

I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore and Uzbekistan.

Thanks to you, I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my bum.

And thanks to your great advice, I can't even pick up the $5.00 I found dropped in the car park because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.

If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhoea will land on your head at 5:00pm this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump.

I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbour's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician.

By the way....a South American scientist after a lengthy study has discovered that people with low IQ who have infrequent sexual activity always read their e-mails with their hand on the mouse.

Don't bother taking it off now it's too late.

Oh Monica - hugs and prayers to all of you. I know the Dis slides down everyone's priority list quickly in times of crisis, but please keep us updated.

They be fine , Im way southwest Vegas ...nowhere near North ..I wouldnt live in North Vegas either ..I didnt even see that on the news ...But Thank You for your concern ..

That's what I figures - just wanted to check!

Reading this makes me laugh (not because six teens were shot -- I am not that cold) but because it reminds me of my mother-in-law. YIKES!
Actually, I'm not a worry-er, but Todd & fam are the only folks I 'know' in Vegas and I knew Dylan was an ST, so I thought I would ask.

Why the heck do we keep shooting at eachother?? Seems more so lately than 'normal'. 'Tis the season I guess.

My MIL makes the same phone calls. I once had to send her a map & explain that the earthquake occured in about South Carolina and we were living in the equivalent of Oklahoma even though we were both in Alaska.

Oh wait...I had to do that here too!

Nope. But it did have an awful lot to do with DH getting a new posting at Falcon AFB and the USAF not moving girlfriends. So we found his base chaplain and did the deed. Not terribly romantic - but quite practical. Hum. That's rather descriptive.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OH I would so bring that up every time someone launches into the standard spouse OpSec speech! :lmao:

I moved to Alaska with 2 suitcases and 3 mailed boxes, so it wasn't an issue. Our issue was BAH - going rate for an apartment in Kodiak was $300 more a month than 0-1 BAH. We refer to this as our "tuna helper days".

Gosh we've come a long way in 13 years - my base price for this cruise would have paid our rent for 5 months!!! How's that for perspective?

*OpSec = Operational Security - don't tell anyone where he's going, when he's leaving, when he's coming back, loose lips sink ships and whatnot.

Would it be too mean to send this to her?
