Chrissie, that looked like fun. Glad you won. For some reason I was expecting a huge cake that you all would have been surrounded by.:goodvibes You and Brandon have a safe trip down to WDW.

Tracy, hope you and Bill don't get anymore snow and that you have a safe trip down to WDW.

Julie, Diane, Tracy and Andy and whoever else has snow. Enjoy, it is so pretty to look at........................not so much to shovel.:goodvibes

All sn*w, freezing rain and sleet have changed to all rain now, as the temps are into the upper 30's. Still nasty and raw outside though, we stayed indoors all day today, where it is warm and dry!!! ;)

Hey Crew! Just sticking my head in the door to say ARGH! I've been able to ketchup since Friday. Back on the road again next week, so I'll be scarce until the end of the week. Then it starts to lighten up again for the rest of December. :thumbsup2

My crazy parents are taking my DS8 on an intergenerational Elderhostel right after Christmas up in Northern Minnesota (about an hour North of Deluth) where they are going to ice fish, snowshoe, hike, etc. They are even going to get a ride with a sled-dog team. I don't even want to THINK about how cold that is going to be. I've been buying DS extra hats, gloves, snowpants, etc. and am looking for thermal longjons for him!

Pamela (pdarrah)

Our favorite place for gear like that is campmor.com. Very good prices, and they usually have a good selection.

Here's a couple pictures of the snowflakes. They look really nice at night with just the Christmas lights lighting the room. We picked them up at the Dollar Store and used fishing line and hot glue to put them up. I burned my fingers quite a few times!

100_1543.jpg

This is SO cool! I dare not show DS6 or I'll be fighting that battle. Though, I think we'd use clear thumbtacks - easier to take down.

Or, how could I forget shoveling for more than six hours after the Feb. 2003 storm. This is a pic of the front of our house. That mound of sn*w just to the right of our house, is actually our car. Under the left window in the pic is Angelina. As she played, I shoveled, and shoveled, and shoveled..............:sad2:

We had a blizzard in CO Springs in 97-98 that snowed us in the 3 days. Took a front end loader to dig out the street. We didn't loose power or anything - just house bound. The dogs had a land bridge to freedom right over the fence. :headache: I should say I was snowed in. DH got trapped at the Denver airport for 3-days with several thousand other people. The Red Cross couldn't even get in for a couple of days. Now there's an interesting story. On the other hand, things have to go pretty far wrong for him to say it's a "bad" trip now. :rotfl:

Been really rainy here most of the day. Wasn't too fun driving home from work this evening. I hope we get "1" good snow here this season. We haven't had one for about 3 years so we should be due.:)

I'm really enjoying all the decoration pictures from everyone. Before I share ours - I have to tell the story...

DS6 took a bump to the head on Tuesday. It was bad enough that he spent some time resting at school, but was back on his feet for lunch, and played outside normally. No sign of a lump or bruising. He's always been a bit of a Drama King. At 5 am the next morning he was up throwing up. :guilty: He has a history of a tender stomach, and there weren't any other signs of a head injury, but... So, we kept him home on Wednesday to keep an eye on him. I was on kid-duty as I can work from home.

DS6 was infused with the Christmas spirit. He decided that since we were home we were going to decorate the house for Christmas. "No, you need to rest today. Besides, we don't have the key to the storage unit." "I'm fine. And here's the key. Daddy and I changed the lock." "No, I have to work, we can't decorate the house."

And off I got to work. Fortunately, my scheduled meetings that day were dropping off my calendar like flies - so having a busy, not resting, 6 yo was less of a problem than it might have been. As I'm working I hear something scraping down the hallway. Issac was moving something large. I look outside my office. There he is pushing a 17" CRT down the hall - cable trailing like a high-tech tail. "What are you doing?" "I'm wrapping it." "You're what?" "I'm wrapping it." (DS6 has decided that he needs a computer for Xmas - and this is an extra CRT we had sitting around.) Sure enough - he'd got out the wrapping paper and everything - he was good to go. "No Honey, this isn't something to wrap." "No, I'm going to get this for Christmas and it must be wrapped." "Honey, I'm not certain you're getting this for Christmas." But, I've got to come up with something to scratch this Christmas itch...

 "You know, we have a present for brother that needs to be wrapped. Would you like to wrap that? But it has to be a secret. You can't even teas him that you wrapped it." "OK." "You can keep a secret?" "When I see brother I'll say 'You want to play?'" So, off he went to wrap. It kept him occupied for quite some time as he decided to make a card to go with it.

But, he had declared Saturday as the day to decorate the house. At 8:30 am he was up, dressed, storage unit key in hand, and waiting to go get the stuff.

Here are the results. It kept the boys busy for the morning.

For some reason, every picture with the lights on turned out blurry. So you don't get to see the lights. My contribution was to help assemble the tree (it's artificial).
xmas07-01.jpg

Daddy's contribution was to hang the stocking holder (we don't have a mantle). This is the people side of the doulbe sided fireplace - includes stockings for my brother and parents. Hum, now that I count them, we're missing a couple.
xmas07-02.jpg

Here are the stockings for the animals.
xmas07-03.jpg

The fish don't get a stocking.

In honor of... Well, it's rather obvious.

What did the Pirate get for Christmas?

Hey Crew - Remember this??

Valuable Prizes!! Valuable Prizes!!

Official Pirate Joke of the Day Challenge

This one gets off to a really great start...

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
Often on a pirate ship the captain was the only one who had an individual room. If the other pirates were lucky they had shared quarters. Sometimes they didn't even have beds. Do you know where pirates preferred to sleep if they lacked a proper bed?
pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
On the carrrrrpet!
pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

But has a crummy end. Here's your challenge...

Come up with a better ending to this joke.

Winner will be determined (by Esteri) on Monday morning by the general reactions of others on the board.

Oh, and the valuable prize?? Winner will receive bragging rights, and a link to this special Pirate Joke of the Day signature icon.
pjodcwinner.jpg

In true Pirate fashion, bribes will be accepted. :rolleyes1

Yeah, that Monday was a while ago, but I was OBE (Overcome By Events). I believe these were all the entries. Much to my disappointment - no bribery was attempted.

On his treasarrrrrrrh's chest! :rolleyes1

Here's my pictoral entry ....

HOW about wherever Popeye's goin' here?...

Popeye-a-date-to-skate.jpg

Or ....

allaboardthebigbed6cz.png

:confused3 A CATARRRRRRGORY 10 GTY:rolleyes1

In a house of ill repute in Carrrrrrrtegena???????????????

It was a difficult decision - in fact I needed all that extra time to consider the results... And I've decided that it is ...

A TIE!!

Roger (GoofyontheHiSeas) has the most appropriate response for this group.

Julie (bellelinus) has the best Piratey response.

Congratulations to you both on your most excellent updates to this crummy punchline!

Hi everyone!

Here is what so many have been waiting for!

http://www.weddingdayonline.com/shows/vendors.htm

Go to page 8 under highlights and you can watch the video of the cake dive! I am in yellow!

Chrissie

That was great Chrissie! :thumbsup2 Congrats again! You were smart to go right for the middle of the cake. Loved how the whole top was coming off!

Thanks!

Hey anyone eat at Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge? Dress code???

Chrissie

Sorry I can't say I have, but I imagine at the most it would be business casual. We've eaten at CG many times which is definitely business casual but honestly anything seems to go as long as you are not in bathing attire, cut offs, or tank tops.

Glad to hear DS okay & too funny about the dedication to wrapping presents! Also love the pictures. :santa:

Congratulations Roger & Julie!!! And without bribes too! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

You know what I've discovered over the past couple of years..............it was much easier being a teenager, then it is, being the parent of a teenager...............
I hope I have the stamina to make through until our DD makes it to adulthood........:rolleyes1
For those of you who have gone through this, God Bless You, for those yet to experience it, God Be With You!!!

Andy,:lmao: my son 38 is still a pain in my whatever!!! Children never go away, they just get More needy as they get older!!!

Everyone's Christmas decorations look great! Thanks so much for sharing them. We tend to go way overboard with our decorations, too. So I feel like I'm in good company here!

Cheryl, I love how each one of your babies pictures has a little light above it. How long did it take you to get that just right?

Bought the frames with the lights all together. It comes on a strand but I need to update the pictures. :rotfl2:

Cheryl, where did you find that? I looked for years for a light up Disney topper for my tree. Love all your decorations:goodvibes

I know you all are. I just don't like to drive for a trip--3 hours is my limit. AA had airfare for RT for 150 or so, which wasn't bad, maybe I should just leave the boys at home. I'll have to give it some more thought.:goodvibes

I found the Minnie Angel(her wings move back and forth) at Disney Store several years ago. I have a Santa Mickey on my small tree (he waves a light) at Walmart!!

I really think it would be fun iof you could come!!!! I have a twin bed no one uses. I got rid of extra beds when the kids moved out. This way there is not much room for them to come back home.:lmao: :lmao:

I do have some excellent news to share.

Got an email from mileyworld.com saying those of use who joined the club to try and get early access to Hannah Montana tix - but failed - would be given a chance to try to get some buy tix today at noon.

and....

I got 4 tix for the Dec 30 show in Newark, NJ.

My kids (who dont yet) will be thrilled!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. And I hope to be less of a stranger in December!

Sil........I am soo happy you got the tickets!!!:woohoo:

Here's a couple pictures of the snowflakes. They look really nice at night with just the Christmas lights lighting the room. We picked them up at the Dollar Store and used fishing line and hot glue to put them up. I burned my fingers quite a few times!
100_1542.jpg

Very Cool Mike!!!! See note below!!!

What a neat idea Mike. I have burned myself everytime I have used a glue gun. I might try to do that down at the store if I find some snowflakes.:goodvibes

If you ever get a burn from a hot glue gun, use white toothpaste on it. For some strange reason this prevents the skin from burning and blistering!!!(Cant' be a Gel paste)

Bill's on his way out to shovel right now. We got about 4 inches or so. Wouldn't worry about the driveway except the huge pile at the end of it from the snow plow. We live on a wide street so we get bigger snow piles :sad2: Hopefully no snow on Thursday when we fly down to WDW :woohoo: :woohoo:

We went to friends in Wisconsin and we made it just before snow started. Our friends got over 6 inches and then a half inch of ice on top of it. By the time we left Sunday afternoon, it was raing. Go figure.:confused3

I think we wound up with about 20" of sn*w from this storm over the President's weekend holiday. Oh yes, that's when our furnace decided to break down and I had to dig out the front of the house so the heater repairman had a place to park his truck. Shortly after the repairman arrived at our house a State of Emergency was declared. Luckily for us, he got our furnace running and we haven't had any trouble with it since.........
The end result after six hours of shoveling................

1063983990026317863S600x600Q85.jpg

This still wasn't as bad as our January 1996 storm when we received 30.7" of the white stuff, took me about eight hours to dig out after that storm...........just have to love those Nor'easters

OMG Andy, you really caught it. I know you and me both wish it was sand instead. ;)

Cheryl, my Mom did the same thing with each of our bedrooms. Except 3 of them got totally demolished. When she remarried there ended up being 7 teenagers in the house, so they put up walls in the basement so that we each had our own room.
I must have gotten my topper at WDW, it is Minnie and one of the lights from the tree clip into a star. For several years I wired an animated Mickey to the top of the tree. That was so sweet with the offer of the bed, I am really thinking about it. Alan & Adam said I should go if I wanted, they said that will probably be the start of their fishing trips.:goodvibes

I remember the big snow storm we had in January 1996. It took the county 3 days to plow the streets in our neighborhood. Meanwhile, I worked in a diagnostic lab at the time and my boss was desperately trying to get people to come in. She tried to get me to walk to the nearest highway so she could pick me up in her SUV. I considered it, but with so many people being hit by cars that winter (skidding, getting out to inspect damage, and getting hit by another car) I decided it just wasn't worth the risk:confused3

Luckily we haven't had any snow storms that were quite that bad since:)

*** Important Updates ***

Dis-meet Party

I am going to put a deposit for the clubhouse. We can only have the party when office is closed so instead of doing a night one, I am planning one for Sunday March 30th.
I have a limit of only 50 people max.:sad1: Everyone and anyone on this thread is invited !!!
I will take pictures this weekend of clubhouse and post for all to see. ( just keep in mind it's set-up for Christmas now. )

As long as I don't nail anything in wall..........I can pretty much do what I wan't and trust me the  are already flowing.

I will host the party as a gift from us to you.:goodvibes

I wasn't able to take pics. today. I was locked out.:sad1: I will take them tomorrow.

I have 38 openings left..............PM me if interested.:goodvibes

SEVEN teenagers??!! And they all survived?? Your mother was a saint!

.

I am not good about keeping secrets,:rolleyes1 I will try my best. Chuck & I had a wonderful lunch at Red Lobster today and I am very excited to say that a theme to the dis-meet party is set.:woohoo: We already did some shopping today...........

Here are some clues to the theme. Inspired by a Disney movie, no I haven't seen it but bought it today.:goodvibes

No it's not pirate: of the Caribbean :rotfl2:
