What makes ya say that Mark? We do tend to draw a crowd when we all get together. It's fun to see the looks on peoples faces! :lmao:

Sara use to have a scooter.
I have seen scooter rallies
I'll bet its not every day they see the "Hecks Angels":lmao:

The noise is really kinda "cute" and everyone is really having a good time

My flights cost more than the cruise!

I can relate. We rented a house on the beach in Turks and Caicos this past June for the four of us for $1500 total. Airfare for the four of us to get there? $4000.
:scared1: But still cheaper than what a cruise usually costs us, and that's what the hubby wanted to do.

Don't know if I've posted all this before or not.
The Escaping Moms have decided that we will all meet in Phoenix two nights before the cruise and rent a (big) van to drive to California the day before the cruise.
We'll stay the night before the cruise at the Doubletree in San Pedro.

And I booked the flights yesterday for the two of us who need to fly back to Phoenix. We booked coach on USAirways, non stop, and used our points to upgrade to First Class.:woohoo: :woohoo: Still, one-way coach isn't cheap.....$238 total per person...but with the upgrade it seems a good deal.

Now I think the only other thing we still need to do (other than book excursions, Palo and Spa) is to get a day room at the Hyatt on the 1st.

The funny thing, though, is that I DON'T have all the details worked out yet for the December cruise, the May wedding, and the June cruise. :guilty: Can you tell which trip I'm the most obsessed with??? :rotfl:

Well now that you have the travel worked out for this trip, you can move your attention to one of the others.:goodvibes

Thought I'd post a "few" pics from our rally last week. We estimated 60 scooters in attendence. We had one guy come all the way from Colorado! Some from KS and MS.

Debi/Kev:

I thought your photos were FANTASTIC! I feel like I was there sharing in all the fun. Your captions and photos were a real treat! The "sinful" rider who got her arm broke being arrested by an officer she was calling Barney Five! WHat a hoot! And the one scooter with the HUGE cargo box looked like it was intended for carrying pizzas! Plus the cool scooters - with the 650 cc long wheel base - and the all enclosed BMW (being strapped in it looks like it's keeping the driver locked inside - is THAT right? - and the Cushman and Honda Ruckus are my favorites! With maybe the RUckus taking the cake by a nose:

I'd have no where to paint on pirates skull and cross bones as in on of the pink scooters at the bottom. And - I think you indicated your first scoot was like the pink one. Was it in fact PINK!? That's so cool - !!!!

This makes me wanna shop for scooters now! But I gotta go - we have a beach lunch with another family -

- well it looks like I never posted this BEFORE I left for the day - so here it is now... sigh.

The beach day was really nice - the beach had a very unusual condition - about 5' of sand was washed away so that there was a 5' mini-clif edge to the surf line. It seems the high winds of yesterday drive the water far up on shore and it carved a perpendicular clif face into the sand. I'll post pictures later when I get a little more settled in from the day.

SO - otherwise - it was a really nice and relaxing day. My Dad semi-surprised us - he showed up and brought a ton of take out food to go with our lite snacks - so afterwards I took him to dinner at Buccas' .... I had a coupon that was unusual in being good on saturday.

OK... now back to my wandering and lurking on the other threads I haunt...

Looks like I've got the only green lite on - so I'll post a little bit in general reply. I'm thinking my spouse and I are fighting a bug of some sort - as both our throats are itchy - and we all need a good nites' rest. So... we're canceling out of meeting my cousins at DL tomorrow - and I think we'll just stay in tomorrow. We'll rest - turn up the heat - and see whatg comes of it. Plus I'll load up on vitamin C and see if there's anything else I can do to let my body heal.

Aside from that - I see all this talk about airfare costs versus the cruise cost. SInce we're in LA, you all don't wanna know what our air fare costs are gonna run - but I'll just say we expect it to run about 12-15% of our cruise fare. No surprises there, eh? And as Paula said - our costs for air travel for a MED sailing would have been high - except we probably would have dropped air miles to do a med cruise IF the air component ran over $1250 per person. Off hand - I think we resisted the DCL MED sailings mostly on account of our pre-existing plan to do a group sailing in the MED with several family members. SO as not to undermine that agenda we resisted the DIS deals when they came out. Shame... eh? Plus the price was a bit much - compared to some alternatives we were considering.

At any rate - I gotta help Alicia with the kids now - gotta get them out of the tub now...

If I'm still awake in a couple hours I'll post some of those beach pictures from today - no warm sunsets - but some intersting sand shots of the wind driven surf n' sand erosion.

TTFN!

Tom hope you all get to feeling better. You MUST be feeling bad if you cancel a trip to DL.:goodvibes

Yeah,my first scoot was a Pink Genuine Buddy named "Pink Tink". I had a large Tinkerbell :tinker: decal on the front. People used to ask where I got my moped. That's how I ended up with my tag from the Tag Fairy.

If you'll look to the left in this picture, you'll see yours truely sitting on her Legacy. Black scoot, woman in white helmet. Kev was taking the picture and I'm parked next to his scoot.

Good morning have a nice Sunday

Andrew--that is the main reason we didn't do one of the Med. cruises this summer. :sad2:

Yes its a big cost either way and a major investment in time, basically a loss of a day in travel, 11 hours to LAX, I hope there back to Euroope in 2009.

I can relate. We rented a house on the beach in Turks and Caicos this past June for the four of us for $1500 total. Airfare for the four of us to get there? $4000.

Yes big cost!
